Each surgical tool is a different direction on the Control Stick. Press the corresponding direction and you're ready for prime time. This helps the game move more quickly, and you can't blame a slow tool-switch for your failure. It's all on you now. This system allows you to operate with both hands, instead of just using the stylus to select and operate in the DS version.
