Level Walkthrough
General Tip: Don't be afraid to use the "Soul Remains" you pick up during this stage! They can be invaluable in luring otherwise deadly enemies to show their vulnerable backsides. Simply throw it where you'd like them to attack, and then unleash your fury once they are confused. This is especially useful when fighting the large axe-wielding cliff skeletons, and a great tactic against the red-eyed duel-wielder.
Boss Strategy
Vanguard (optional)
Attacks:
- Axe swings
- Butt stomp
Remember this guy? This is the demon that abruptly ended your tutorial! Before, Vanguard was impossible to beat except for only the most skilled players. Now he's as simple as shooting a bunch of arrows at him for ranged fighters. Magicians will also have an easy time with this, as your target lock range is far longer than Vanguard's attack range. Simply lock on and cast away! Pure melee fighters will, however, have a slightly harder time. Vanguard will use similar tactics as in the tutorial, swinging its weapon at you. You should also watch for when it uses it's surprisingly effective wings to fly up in the air a few feet and drop back to the ground, causing area damage around it. Just be sure to dodge these attacks and swing away.
For melee fighters, just run around behind them. Once there, the only attack he'll do is the butt stomp. As soon as you see him start to fly up, just back off a decent distance; you have more than enough time to do so. A well-timed roll while near him during this attack should avoid its damage and knockdown as well. As he lands on the ground, run up to him and swing away, but be ready for him to turn around and face you. As soon as he starts to, just run around behind him again and repeat the process.
A rather cheap, but somewhat safer method of fighting Vanguard with melee is to come up out of the hole behind him, slash him in the back two or three times, then retreat to the hole as he begins to fly up into the air. Wait for twenty or thirty seconds, then come back up and repeat the process as many times as necessary before he dies. Again, it feels cheap, but it gets the job done.
Adjudicator
Attacks:
- Tongue Whip
- Cleaver Swipe
There are two approaches to defeating Adjudicator, however both begin the same: Start Moving! If you are a melee fighter, start going down the stairs to your right, but be sure to hug the wall. The Adjudicator will destroy part of the ledges as you make your way down to the bottom floor. When you have made it there, do not lock on to Adjudicator. Most strikes will simply bounce off of him. Instead, attack the large cleaver on his left side until it falls forward. This gives you an opportunity to attack its weakpoint, the bird on his head. Repeat this tactic until Adjudicator is dead.
In order to stay safe, stay behind him. Wait for him to attack, then use the precious few moments of reprieve to run to the front and attack the wound in his stomach -- only a few hits however, and then quickly make your way behind him again. A couple of direct hits from him can kill even the most seasoned player.
If you happen to be a spell caster, your job is slightly easier. Like the melee fighter, start off by running to the stairs on your right. Keep going straight down them until you find the corner after you reach the bottom of the stairs. This should put you right at eye (bird) level with Adjudicator. I won't say that it is safe here, as Adjudicator can still attack you with its tounge or cleaver. However, Adjudicator cannot destroy this section of the room. This should allow a decent magician to target the bird on Adjudicator's head directly instead of waiting for it to fall over. Just keep dodging its attacks and casting those spells and it will be dead in no time.
SHORTCUT TIP (Glitch): If you would like a fast way to get back to (or just get there faster) the Adjudicator boss area, and skip a lot of battles, there is a shortcut that can be used early in the level. It is considered a glitch as it involves rolling over a wall that you probably shouldn't be able to get over. After defeating the 6 skeletons in the opening area, take the door to the left under the archway. Go up the stairs to the top of the wall where the 2 archers, and other skeleton are. Defeat them how you chose and then continue along the wall until you reach the stairs that lead to a dead end. At the top of the stairs remove all of your armor (you need to do this so you can roll far enough). Look at the wall that is facing towards where you start the area, get a running start, and then roll towards it as you reach the edge of the platform you are on. If done correctly you will roll on top of the wall. You can then fall down to the ground with minimal damage. Don't forget to put your armor back on, and then look to the left where you will find a trail. Follow that trail through the doorway at the end and keep going left through the doorways until you reach the area just before the boss room. Here is a video[1] that shows it in detail.

Glitch: If you roll off the first open side after descending the staircase so that you can reach maximum distance, you will pass over the "instant death" limit and fall for about 30 seconds before you land at the bottom of the map. This is just an interesting glitch.
Boss Strategy
Old Hero
Attacks:
- Overhead Slash
- Vertical Stab (Area of effect damage caused when he pulls his blade from the ground.)
- Charging Slash (If you are at a distance and he's able to hear where you are.)
The first thing you need to know is that Old Hero is blind and only attacks what it can hear.
Mages, now would be the time to purchase and equip the Demon's Prank spell and find yourself a Thief's Ring. For spell casters, this fight can be an easy one if you just take your time. Cast Demon's Prank to lure Old Hero away from you and then toss some ranged magic at him, but be careful how much you do this. Too much magic will bring him leaping in your direction. You should fire one shot and then watch and wait.
Melee fighters can also benefit from the Thief's Ring in this fight. They can also do without a heavy set of armor, because this doesn't help your sneaking ability (if only there was a cardboard box...). In this one, walk, don't run. The combination of the Thief's Ring, light armor (the Assassin's Armor set should work well), and walking should leave Old Hero confused and swinging his jagged sword at the air. When he's off swinging in another direction, rush up to him and attack. Get a few swings in, then go hide behind a pillar again.
Bow users have the easiest time killing this boss. With a good bow you can use precision aiming to attack from the other side of the room. You have a little lee-way with the strategy, but the safest bet is to stay a the far end of the room by the entrance and only attack when he is halfway across the room or further. Old Hero will patrol up and down the center of the room. With the thief ring equipped, you can spend most of your time simply standing still behind the altar near the entrance. If he gets too close, simply run (or walk if you have time) off to the side and wait for him to turn around. The safest way to kill him is again, to only fire when he is half-way down or farther, only fire once, and wait for him to return to his patrol before firing again. If you are impatient you may be able to get off a few more arrows when he is further away, just remember that when you are not moving or firing, he can't hear you, but he will still occasionally attack locations at random.
Side Note: You really only need to take of your feet gear (go bare foot), thief ring equip. You can nuke and run around easy with out getting any hate. Just don't nuke more than 2-3 times before running to a new spot.

Boss Strategy
Storm King
Attacks:
- Homing spears
If you have a good bow, lots of arrows, and time, this one can be easy. Initially, the Storm King will not appear in the area. To get it to show up, you must kill several of the flying stingrays. If you have the bow and are a good enough shot, you can accomplish this with some good aim. Otherwise, it's best to equip either Soul Arrow or Soul Light and use magic to bring them down. But make sure you do this carefully. It's very easy to get too focused on one stingray while 3 or 4 others are poised to kill you. Your best bet is to stay near the entrance and let them come to you. Once a few of them are killed, you will see the Storm King begin to circle above, but still be out of range. To get it in range, keep killing off the flying stingrays until you see the Storm King fly lower. When that happens, make your way back towards the entrance and hide behind the rock near the cliff on the extreme corner of the map. From back here, you should be safe from the Storm King's attack, but it will also take much longer for you to defeat it. From there, you can launch only a few arrows at a time at it before it passes you up and flies out of range. This is probably the safest strategy if you are patient.
For Melee fighters, you're going to have to have a special weapon in order to defeat the Storm King. Not to worry, you can find the Stormruler fairly easily. The only difficult part is making it past all of the flying stingrays. When you start the level, head down the hill towards the demolished building but staying towards the edge of the cliff. I suggest this because it's the easiest way to find the Stormruler sword and to find your way back. Stay on this edge (but not too close) until you get to the point of the cliff. You should be able to find the Stormuler there. Before you stop and try to equip it, run back the way you came and hide behind the back wall of the demolished building. That should give you enough time and cover to equip the sword. When you do have it equiped, be sure to use it with two hands. Target the nearest flying stingray and take a swing. The Stormruler will whip a pulse of energy/magic/whatever high into the sky; killing the flying stingrays with (usually) one hit! Keep doing this until the Storm King decends from the clouds.
A good strategy would be to watch its attack pattern for one cycle. Each pass, the Storm King launches a large group of homing spears from its body. That wall you hid behind before will be your one safe spot nearby, so learn how to get behind it when you see the spears coming. There should be enough time for you to pop out from behind the wall and send a few Stormruler swings its way. Just keep in mind that the Stormruler takes a sizeable chunk of your stamina with each swing, so an immediate dodge after a swing may not happen. Just keep popping out from behind the wall and the Storm Ruler should fall.
