Ostrava of Boletaria

Ostrava of Boletaria, King Allants son can be found throughout the entire Boletarian Palace and in the Nexus until he dies. The first place you can find him is just after the first Blue Eye Knight in section 1-1. The next is at the start of section 1-2, to the left of the Hoplites, trapped behind a grill. In section 1-3 he is under attack from three Red Eye Knights and in the final section of the Boletarian Palace you will find him on the steps that lead to the False King Allant. You will also encounter a Black Phantom Ostrava of Boletaria, just before the final battle.
Ostrava of Boletaria wields a Rune Sword and a Rune Shield. If you attack and defeat Ostrava of Boletaria, he will drop the Mausoleum Key which will unlock the Mausoleum behind the first Red Eye Knight in section 1-1. In the Mausoleum you will find Old King Doran and if your encounter with Old King Doran goes well, you will also pick up Demonbrandt. Defeating the human form Ostrava in battle however will shift your Character Tendency towards black. There is another way to get this key.
For Ostrava of Boletaria to appear in each section he will need to have survived and been rescued in the previous section before the defeat of the major demon of that section. For obvious reason Ostrava always appears in section 1-1 on each play through.

In section 1-1
After the defeat of the first Blue Eye Knight, head down the stairs and Ostrava of Boletaria can be found just over the edge of the walkway. Walk into the edge at bottom of the stairs at the correct the location and the player will jump over it and down to the ledge with Ostrava of Boletaria.
On this platform you will also find a Thief's Ring. Talk to Ostrava of Boletaria, then take out the Dreglings below. Talk to Ostrava again when he jumps down and he will give you a Brass Telescope. Fight the enemies in this area with Ostrava (to help to keep him alive).
In section 1-2
Ostrava of Boletaria is now being held prisoner by crossbow wielding soldiers just behind and to the left of the Hoplites, before the Red Flying Dragon bridge. You can talk to him here, but to free him you need to get to the first bridge tower, take the stairs down and come back through the dark passage. Take out the soldiers and the odd Dregling on the way and you will have freed Ostrava.
Once you reach Ostrava, talk to him and he gives you 3x Dark Moon Grass. A nice little pick-up. Ostrava of Boletraia will then continue on his way to see the King.
After this rescue, you will find him in the Nexus sitting on the beam between the Archstones. You can chat with him there and a lot of the back story will be learned.
In section 1-3
After defeating the second Fat Official at the large portcullis in section 1-3, Ostrava of Boletaria will ask you for help against 3 Red Eye Knights. This can be a little on the tough side. It is very possible for either you or Ostrava to die at this point.
If Ostrava dies he will drop the Mausoleum Key.
If you die, rush to this area and you will find Ostrava fighting the Red Eye Knights on his own. You now have a second chance to rescue him - but be quick.
If you both die, have a look around this area when you get back to it. At the top on the left you should find a little dead-end ally. In here you should find the Mausoleum Key. If you do not pick up the key, it will be gone until the next play through.
If you do rescue Ostrava he will give you a Pure Clearstone for you effort.
In section 1-4
A depressed and disillusioned Ostrava of Boletaria can be found on the steps just past the Blue Flying Dragon. More story is explained here then Ostrava kills himself. Pick-up the Mausoleum Key. There is no Character Tendency shift with this outcome. You can also go off and do the Old King Doran sidequest or continue in section 1-4.
Up the steps and on the bridge is the Black Phantom Ostrava of Boletaria. This fight can be a little tricky. Ostrava is not exactly hard to fight, but the bridge is not very wide! Using a ranged attack can make sure Ostrava stays on the bridge. It is also possible to pull Black Phantom Ostrava back down the steps and off the bridge.
Black Phantom Ostrava will drop a Rune Sword and Rune Shield if he dies on the bridge. If he falls to his death these items fall with him. There is no Character or World Tendency shift for defeating the Black Phantom Ostrava.
If Ostrava of Boletaria dies
If Ostrava of Boletaria dies you should be able to locate the Mausoleum Key either where he died or on the next load of that section, near where you would have found him. You will need to pick-up this key on the next load or you run the risk of losing it until the next play through.
If the human form Ostrava of Boletaria is killed by you (or dies while being angry at you??), your Character Tendency will shift towards black. If, for example the Red Eye Knights defeat him, there is no Tendency change.
There is no World or Character Tendency shift for defeating the Black Phantom Ostrava of Boletaria.
