Enchanting a Weapon with a spell or item will add extra damage to the weapon for a period of time. The type of damage that is added will depend on what is used to enchant the weapon.

Not all weapons can be Enchanted and not all upgrade paths are supported either - but enchanted weapons can be very powerful.

Only a weapon held in your right hand can be enchanted. This is important for spell based enchantment as the catalyst must be in your left hand. Switching the weapon while it is enchanted will remove the bonus affect, but switching the catalyst to a shield for example, after the spell has been cast will not remove the affect.

What to use

There are six ways you can enchant a weapon, three are by consumable items which can be found or purchased throughout the worlds. The other three are with spells. Two of the spells require a Demon's Soul.

The consumable items are:

Turpentine Adds 80 Fire damage for about 60 seconds Can be found in the Boletarian Palace. Is a rare drop by Dreglings. Can be purchased from the Dregling Merchant for 500s (sections 1-2 and 1-3 only).
Black Turpentine Adds 150 Fire damage for about 30 seconds Can be found in the Valley of Defilement. Can be purchased from the Filthy Woman for 1,500s.
Sticky White Stuff Adds 110 Magic damage for 60 seconds Can be found in Stonefang Tunnel (near where the rocks hit the ground at the start). Giant Slugs will drop it. Patches, the Hyena and Graverobber Blige will sell some for 5,000s

All spell enchantments last about 60 seconds. The Spells are:

Icon Spell Affect How to learn Notes
Enchant Weapon
1 slot
Adds a fair amount of Magic damage that will scale with your Magic stat level. Sage Freke, the Visionary or his apprentice can teach you the spell for 5,000s MP Cost 20. The amount of damage added will depend on the catalyst used.
Light Weapon
2 slot
Adds a strong amount of Magic damage that will scale with your Magic stat level. Sage Freke, the Visionary will require the Silver Demon's Soul from the Penetrator in the Boletarian Palace, section 1-3. MP Cost 50. Appears to be about twice the amount of the Enchant Weapon spell. The amount of damage added will depend on the catalyst used.
Curse Weapon
3 slot
Adds 50% damage to right hand weapon. Yuria, the Witch will require the Silver Demon's Soul from the Penetrator in the Boletarian Palace, section 1-3. MP Cost 100. This spell will curse your weapon, which will cause it to drain a small amount of your HP while the spell is active. When used in conjunctim with the Dragon Bone Smasher, the Morion Blade and the Clever Rat's Ring ring - this spell is very powerful.

Supported Weapons and Ores

Not all weapons can be enchanted. As a basic rule however almost all weapons that already have Magic or Fire damage can not be enchanted. The exception to this is the Blueblood Sword, which can.

Any base level weapon that is not a Unique Weapon can be enchanted, however not all upgrade paths are supported. As there are a lot of upgrade choices, it is almost impossible to remember which path can and which can not be enchanted. Luckily, the supported upgrade path list is small.

Of all the Unique Weapons, only the following can enchanted.

The following weapon upgrade options are the only supported paths for enchantment. This means any weapon upgraded with the Ores below can be enchanted, all others can not.
