Cloudstones

Cloudstones can be found from defeating Storm Beasts and a treasure in Shrine of Storms. Shards can be purchased from the Graverobber Blige in section 4-2 for 3,000s. A Pure Cloudstone can be picked up from the Storm King Archstone and is a very rare drop from Storm Beasts in section 4-1.
Cloudstones can only be used on shields and will reduce the amount damage from magic attacks. Upgrading a shield with Cloudstone will add a Dark prefix to the shields name.
All supported shield upgrades start from +6.
Only Blacksmith Ed can upgrade shields with Cloudstone.
Note: The Dark Silver Shield is not a Cloudstone upgraded shield, nor is it a supported shield.

Upgrade damage bonuses
| A fully upgraded Dark Shield will have a 70% damage reduction rating against magic. Only the Dark Silver Shield has a directly better rating of 100%. However the Rune Shield has a rating of 60% as well as a Magic Defense buff of +30, which will increase to +60 if upgraded to Rune Shield +5.
Getting a +5 Dark shield may be a difficult task as the Chunks are not that common. You may need to do a bit of Storm Beast farming with a Large Sword of Searching in your off-hand at the Storm King Archstone to get all the Chunks you will need. Pure Black World Tendency seems to help as well. The Anti-Magic Field Miracle is a much better choice than any shield when going up against Magic based enemies. |
