In Demon's Souls you will quickly discover that some enemies will drop Ores when defeated. You can also find them if you explore areas. There are 14 different Ore types, all of which can be used to upgrade weapons and shields.

Either Blacksmith Boldwin (Hardstones, Sharpstones and Clearstones only) or Blacksmith Ed can upgrade a weapon or shield with the Ores listed below.

A few Ores can also be traded with the Double-Winged Hawk Girl for a limited number of items.
