I really appreciate that you guys are doing this, but hoo-boy are you about to give out a ton of CDs to people that didn't buy the game.

Whoa. Shouldn't this have been done with a requirement to send in the defective CDs? Sucks hard for ATLUS to have to launch a replacement program again, though. They didn't really need to do this, though. It was just a bonus.

Thank you again for taking care of your customers, Atlus! We love you. Sorry in advance for all the people who are gonna scam you for a free cd...at least they're pretty cheap.
I just got SMT: Strange Journey in the mail today, I can't wait to get home and play it!

They are being cool about the defect and replacing them. I haven't even used mine yet because the game is MUCH MUCH more important to me.

Does this apply to International Customers as well? Or like with Demon Souls are we screwed?

Realistically speaking, who's going to send out for the CD that didn't already buy the game? Who wants to listen to the soundtrack of a game they don't have, or have no interest in?
Jerks, I guess...Oh, well. I should probably try and play my CD. I still don't know if it works or not.

Might be good advertisement too though for the game...people love "free" stuff, so I'm pretty sure this is going to pop up in slick deals and the like. Hopefully this will make people actually buy the game too.

Well, they've let me order it from the UK. Whether it comes through though, we'll just have to wait and see.
I must say, I'm impressed by their quick response to this. I don't import games very often but I love Atlus' games.

i really hope this includes international customers since it would be my second "defective" product in a row after the demon's souls strategy guide.
i really love altus for everything they do for us but they should really keep an eye on their quality management.

So, is there going to be a release of the game with a functional copy in the future? Or will all the copies be bogus? And is the replacement offer only for a limited time? I was planning to wait to get "Strange Journey" until I finished "Soulless Army" (I know, I know, late to the party...), but... I'd like to get a functional copy of the soundtrack, too.

Hey man my coaster works as a CD too! I demand a new coaster since they are supposed to only be uni taskers!
That said Atlus really is nice going out of their way to resolve this. They could have just offered a download or flat said "tough". Instead they are giving a real replacement that is probably going to put a a little tarnish on the wallet. Take it from me, experience says a company that will do right by the consumer is the exception not the rule.

Aw man, Atlus. This is too much. You guys really didn't have to do this. I would've been more than happy with a digital download as a fix.
You guys are the best.

I haven't gotten the game yet, but many, many kudos to Atlus for being extremely fast and responsive to the issue. Especially considering it was just a bonus gift! You guys really go out of your way for the fans. Gotta respect that.

Eh, should have just offered the soundtrack as a free download instead. Quicker replacement for the people who bought the game, advertising to the people who didn't, and cheaper for Atlus (particularly since this disk replacement seems to rely entirely on people doing the right thing and not scamming them for a free CD).

I know. I debated whether to wait until my copy arrives in a couple of days or go ahead and order, but apparently some copies work, so I'll just wait and see. I am kind of sad that we don't even have to register a serial number and that folks can just get a free CD. Maybe it's their way of advertisement.

Love the music, but can't really see ever listening to it outside of the game.

Every CD works the same way; the thing that doesn't work on any of them is playability on a CD Player.

I've been busy so I haven't even opened my copy of Strange Journey yet... but the website in the email I got says that the CD is "Out of Stock."
Does this mean that despite having actually purchased the game, I can't get a replacement CD? What the heck?

Same here, I'm also getting this: "The product is out of stock" error x.x Oh well, considering the stupidity I put up with from amazon [my pre-ordered copy took a strange journey of its own and never made it to my house x.x], I'm just glad I managed to find a copy of the game at EB today [although it was a last resort to buy from them... ;>>]
This is a great idea, but maybe pics of a reciept with our username or something would probably be a better idea to validate the cd purchase if these ever go back in stock XD

Yeah... Registered here to post this as well. I got an email through Atlus Faithful three hours ago and the link is already dead.
You guys can say what you want about how we're not owed a replacement and all that, but Atlus really dropped the ball on this by a) sending out the bad cds in the first place and b) implementing the replacement plan so poorly that legitimate customers aren't able to get one.
Between this and not getting a Persona 4 art book despite my preorder, I'm pretty disappointed with Atlus USA in general right now.

Just found out about this via my Twitter feed only to find out it's out of stock...I'm sure word has spread like wildfire around CAG and the like with freeloaders ruining the party.

Just feel the need to say that these are pre-order bonuses and are an act of kindness from Atlus.
It really bothers me that some people are getting mad over a gift malfunction. Issues like these are accidents, and the game itself works, right?
Yes?
Then you got your money's worth.
I'm sorry, but it's annoying that Atlus goes out of their way to give fans extras just for everyone to be ungrateful when something happens to go wrong.

I wouldn't worry too much at the moment about the "out of stock" message; if I had to guess, I would bet that it's just a temporary measure while they make some adjustments to the replacement process (possibly adding some sort of proof of purchase requirement). I'm sure if we just wait a bit everything will be up and running again shortly.

So you're saying we shouldn't hold Atlus to the extremely high standard we've come to expect from them? Isn't Atlus's attention to detail and reverence for their fans part of the reason we love them so much?
And to be fair, when sites like Amazon advertise the fact that a free CD comes with the preorder of a game, do you find it unreasonable that people expect it to work?
Also, let me state that I have no sense of entitlement regarding Atlus offering extra swag with their games; when they do however, I expect the item to not be defective.
Regardless, the company has long ago earned my respect as a fan and will continue to have a loyal customer in me.

Standards are good. But being flat-out rude to someone who gave you something is just ridiculous. Atlus doesn't make these mistakes often, and so it's normal to expect what you've been given to work.
But when something goes wrong, you should be patient and not say how PO'd you are that something you were given for free doesn't work. Atlus will obviously fix the problem, and they're trying to.
It's just horribly inconsiderate to be angry and impatient over a gift that will most likely be fixed or redeemed in time.
By the way, by "you" I don't mean you, pacanug. I mean the many people I've seen make posts that show a total lack of respect for an act of kindness.
