OFFICIAL BLOG #1 : Levant's Tale
Hello Friends of Atlus,
I’m Clayton S. Chan, Project Lead and Editor for the upcoming PSP mega-blockbuster
Hexyz Force. You may remember me from such previous Atlus blog entries as, “
Shiren Blog #3” and “
Kneel Before Zoids”.
You’re probably wondering what a Hexyz is, and why someone would need one, much less an entire Force of them. Well, the Hexyz were legendary Divinities from Berge’s
(1) ancient history. They fought and died alongside mortals during the battle known as The Gods’ Remorse
(2). The battle cost the Divinities their lives and irreparably divided Berge, but they were ultimately victorious.
Here's some Hexyz.
The world of Berge is one where all life force flows out of a holy artifact known as the vessel. As life is taken, it is returned to the Vessel, and as it is born it flows from the Vessel. The same is true of the Hexyz, and the people that inherit their Force are also known as Hexyz
(3).
Today, I’ll be talking a bit about Levant von Schweitzer’s story. He’s one of the two main characters, and is also a Hexyz. Levant starts the game as a Cerulean Knight in the service of the Rosenbaum Empire. His leader, the Emperor Axel Faulken von Rosenbaum, has just asked him to do the unthinkable. Axel wishes to unite humanity with the non-Human races that inhabit Berge to finally bring lasting peace to the region, and he wants Levant’s support. Levant’s been brought up to view these races as the enemy for his entire life, so he’s naturally a little hesitant. Eventually, Levant agrees to go along with the Emperor’s plan, until events throw the Empire into war with the non-Humans and Levant into prison.
Those turtles are neither teenagers, nor are they mutants.
Levant is broken out, and sets out to discover exactly what is going on behind the scenes. He smells a rat, but unfortunately, the only people he can turn to for help aren’t people at all. He’s got to work with the forces of Argent, the non-Human Halbmenschen
(4) resistance fighters, in order to figure out who’s conspiring to destroy the region’s peace.
As Levant searches Dark Berge for answers, he’ll run into Cecilia and her friends from Lustrous Berge, and they’ll realize that both of their paths are parts of a much larger plot, one that threatens to destroy the whole of Berge altogether.
If you don't buy the game, Irene's going to be making that sad face permanently.
Levant’s tale and Cecilia’s tale are both fully-contained stories in and of themselves, but if you’d like to discover the truth behind everything that happens, you’ll have to play through them both. There are dozens of hours of replay to be had from Hexyz Force, and it is my sincere hope that you’re all just waiting for the day you can start digging into it.

(1) Whoa! Footnotes! First time in Atlus Faithful history! Anyway, Berge is the game world that Hexyz takes place in. It is split into two halves, Lustrous Berge and Dark Berge. Most inhabitants don’t even realize that the other half of the planet exists.
(2) The Gods’ Remorse was fought between Delgaia, the God of Destruction and mortal life. The Hexyz took sides with the mortals and ended up sealing away Delgaia.
(3) Hexyz all fall into one of three Divine Aspects: Crimson Lotus, Pearl Light, or Cerulean Flame. Each Divine Aspect also has a leader, known as a Divine Pillar. Levant is the Pillar of the Crimson Lotus, and Cecilia is the Pillar of the Pearl Light.
(4) Halbmenschen or “Halbs” is the derogatory term that Humans of Dark Berge have given all the non-Human races.
