I think the biggest reason it isn't more popular is simply that most gamers haven't even heard of it. Or worse, there are people who might have only played 5, when most fans will tell you 2 and 3 are much better games.

I finished Growlanser II twice and Growlanser V once. I am already half-way into Growlanser III but I need to go back to Growlanser II to get my third ending and other endings so I can transfer the characters into Growlanser III. This is what makes Growlanser Generations better than Growlanser: Heritage of War, I think.. Each ending of Growlanser II promises a recruitable character in Growlanser III. It takes about 10 hours to get an ending.

I have played all the Growlansers that have been release in the US. I would buy any others day one if Atlus could get them to us.

Yeah thats one of the best features i have encountered in any game. The party of Slayn, Carmaine , Wein and Hugh are the best party of all times. Kinda wanted that in growlanser 4.

Its a pity that Growlanser V and Growlanser VI are not linked via game save, not to mention that Growlanser VI is not even localized. Having the Growlanser V protagonist plus the stats and equipment as recruitable would be great!

Actually the japanese versions of Growlanser 5 and 6 are connected via save game so you can get hashen with the weapons and stats and its the only way to get his ultimate weapons and you can rename him (Like in growlanser 2 and 3 japanese they let you rename Carmaine and Slayn respectively) luckily growlanser 6 can get a vita version if 4 goes well if ever gets localized.

The fact that Atlus Japan ported Growlanser I and IV to the PSP (2 of the 3 GL games that haven't had an English release) certainly makes me thinks they intended for them to be localized. I'd love to see both of them translated but I'd be ecstatic if either one of them comes here.
Since it sounds like VI has the "action RPG" combat style that V had, I can't say I'd be very interested in it. Truth be told I never even finished Heritage of War.

I finished The Sense of Justice and Heritage of War, still need a few more endings before beating The Dual Darkness. I want those recruitable characters on my team!

Recruiting the GL2 characters in 3 is a cool feature, but personally I prefer having only the characters from 3 in my party, because they have dialogue. IIRC the II characters are totally silent if you bring them along in III.

Also interesting from Growlanser 2-3 when recruiting characters is that they are typically a little slower in two. Spells overall became a lot faster (especially buffs) and attack magic becoming slightly weaker.
I kinda didn't like using characters from Growlanser 2 in Growlanser 3 because the fighters seem to have longer cooldowns and aren't too much stronger with their hits.

Thanks for letting me know..
I will be beating Growlanser III instead of getting those endings now considering that it takes about 10 hours to get a single ending.

Actually, they DO have something to say after the final boss fight, when you're talking to all your party members. Carmaine himself congratulates Slayn for proving why he was the ORIGINAL Growlanser.

Growlanser III is a prequel. When the Featherians, humans, and your party are in the space tower celebrating, they are celebrating the fact they will find a new world. Your party stays in the old world to try to fix the inbalance in the spirit powers.

It wasn't really a surprise anyway.

I loved Growlanser II and III was pretty good as well. I got annoyed with V and never got back to it but it was still fairly decent. And I'm very happy to get to play IV later this year! Now if only I get a way to play the first one and VI.

I'm very tempted to go ahead and import the Japanese Growlanser I and use the fan translation guide. But now with IV being localized I have this very tiny smidge of hope that IV will sell better than Atlus's wildest dreams and they will actually end up localizing I as well. I know it is extremely unlikely considering that the PSP is in it's twilight years, but Vita is backwards compatible so I will continue to delude myself for a bit.

I imported Growlanser 1 PSP recently though I haven't beat it yet. Sucky thing is that the guide seems to only cover one ending (Julian's). But oh well, if it is only gonna cover one ending might as well be that one since Julian is cool. Other endings might be added to the guide at a later date though, who knows.
The guide for Growlanser 6 has all the endings translated, but it is also harder to play with a translation guide because G6 is way more complex than G1 (mostly because of the skill system).

Guess I'll wait until this summer when Wayfarer of Time comes out, on the off chance that Atlus decides to localize the first game on PSP, too.
Anyway, I'm bumping this to say it would be nice to hear from more Growlanser fans: The Growlanser Realm forum is pretty dead. The neoseeker forum for Wayfarer of Time is still dead. Even the Wayfarer of Time forum here on Atlus USA is dead. Are you guys still alive?

Every forum is go i only see you there daveyd as i said before the Neogaf forum is the place to be since they get new entries almost every day (Even Vic is there). That make we wonder about the "fans" of Growlanser there in the states (Im not american and still is more rare to see spanish speaking fans than here in american forums).

Well there's only so much you can talk about before you run out of topic ideas. After all, if the game has already been released in another country, there's nothing to speculate (which is what a good deal of forum threads are about usually for a new game), and thus nothing to keep the place going.

I can create 20 topics about Grow 4 and still it wont be visited too much since now that the game is going to be out they think that they have already supported the game. Its still a long way to go before the game is released so we must now hype the game so we asure a good sell for the game.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. Hopefully Atlus will release an English trailer somewhere down the line so we'll have something to talk about between now and when the game is released. Anyway, glad you're still alive and kicking.
