If that refers to what I think it refers to, I'm the one who asked, and his response was interesting.

That would be great! I want this to play this game so badly I'm very seriously considering importing the Japanese disc... never done that before though and I think having to constantly refer to a translation guide might suck the fun out of it.

I remember picking up Growlancer Generations not really knowing what it was. It just looked cool and had some decent reviews, so i figured, why not?
It turned out to be a really good buy. I actually liked 3 more the 2, but thats mainly because i made some poor choices in 2 and ended up having to spend my Christmas or whatever it was with Hans... Kinda wish i still had these games, they were quite good...
Didn't Growlancer II have a character they didn't even bother to name?

Hm, it fills me with joy to see that the Growlanser topics still get crowded
I just hope that they're secretly working on a new GL game

Unless, it's like V or VI, which will make me sad . Then again, if Shining Force can (finally) return to its roots, then there's hope for Growlanser VII, too.

Yeah, but it took Shining Force over 10 years. And Shining Force Feather has yet to leave Japan. Your analogy is suboptimal.

Did you consider that Atlus has a lot more sense than Sega does? I don't believe it will take Atlus 10 years to realize that taking the action-RPG route for Growlanser was a mistake. And I still have hope that Growlanser PSP will be translated. And if Sands of Destruction does well, maybe Sega will take a chance on Feather.

I doubt that. To me, as well as many other critics out there, Sands of Destruction looks like a stereotypical kind of RPG, and we have a ton of those already. Perhaps it has enough hype to have its own anime and manga series, but still, this is probably WHY some companies are hesitant to release games across the country now.

I really would love to see this come over, as I was a huge fan of the old Shining Force games. As for Sands of Destruction, it's a decent game. It steals some plot points from Xenogears (I won't get into it, for the sake of people who haven't played it yet), but that doesn't detract from it that much. The plot doesn't even resemble the anime's (thank god), so that is nice. Anyway, I definitely want to see Shining Force Feather come over and revive the old fans' love for the series, as it was definitely strained by the false entries in the series.

THREAD REVIVAL! *explosion occurs in background*
I love this series. I've played and gotten all the endings in 2, 3, and 5. I would love to play 1 since it bridges the gap between 3 and 2, and I would also love to play 6 since it's a direct sequel to 5, and who DOESN'T want to see what our team is up to after that game...besides, it might show us which ending is right. And I also want 4...because the story sounds amazing, and I loved the strategy part of the series. Overall, I just want them over here...since we already have half of the series.

Growlanser is one of my all time favorite SRPG series. I love the character designs and the character interaction. The PSP port of the first game is at the very top of my "to buy" list.
Hopefully one day this series will find a greater audience.

I'd love to see Growlanser 1 make it over here. It's a very high quality game, but it's sometimes difficult to play though due to my lack of understanding of the Japanese language.

also the illustrator(Satoshi Urushihara) is one of my favorite. more than 50% of the time I'm driven to buy any new localized growlanser is becuz I admire his artwork. the other half falls in the story and Ost category.
~still praying for the localized versions~

No official announcement on a US release, and it's been out in Japan for awhile.

As a Growlanser fan myself, I reccomend trying Record of Agarest War, It's more like it than any other games I've played to date.

That's good to hear...but that means I need to get a 360, which I loathe doing...because I already lost my 360 after 5 RRoDs and bad customer service.

It's also available on PS3 as a download-only title or you can import the European disc-based version.

Wait, what? RoAW is a grid RPG, isn't it? And worse, an Idea Factory one.

when i said similar i didnt mean battle system wise, I meant it reminded me of Growlanser story and relationship wise, sorry if i wasn't clear(and this is my own opinion, so feel free to ignore me if you want). And it's a Compille Heart Game, Idea Factory is just their parent company.

Agarest doesn't have any of the usual killing flaws IF games tend to have. If you are deciding not to play it because IF was involved in the development, you are making a huge mistake. The Extended Area combo system is a work of genius that makes the strategic battles go very quickly, and while the story's general theme isn't particularly unusual, the idea of shaping your protagonists by choosing who you marry is enormously fun.
Edit: Also, it isn't really accurate to compare the story to that of Growlanser... Growlanser 2 and 3 both had truly superior storylines that were well-written, with really good character development. While Agarest's story is well-written, it isn't at the level of those two games. This is mostly due to the fact that you have five different protagonists with wildly varying personalities, making it a bit difficult to empathize with them if you aren't psychologically adaptable. Though, the dialogue in the events is often hilarious and I do like the returning characters for each generation a lot. I'm simply saying that the plot of Growlansers 2 and 3 was more emotionally immediate and thus more powerful...

One of The biggest fan perhaps?
I have growlanser 12346 in japanese and 235 in english. No game have its battle system or lovable characters i know that there are other superior games but growlanser has something that make it unique. I have finished every growlanser game at least twice. It would be great to receive an english release for 1 and 4 but if it never were to be one at least i want a 7 installment of the series.
