Default FEATURETTE: "6 Specialties"

In our first featurette [LINK], we introduced you to the backstories of the 6 specialists in Trauma Team. Now (in what we've affectionately titled "6 Specialties"), we're taking a closer look at their particular fields of medicine. Stay tuned for a lot more assets and content from Trauma Team, and be sure to visit the official website [LINK], for more info!

6 Docs, 6 Jobs
Each of the six player characters in Trauma Team has a particular medical specialization, and the gameplay changes depending on the doctor that is currently being played. Let’s take a closer look at the kinds of things you’ll be doing with each type of operation.

Relax, It's Not Rocket Surgery
CR-S01’s style of play will be the most familiar to veterans of the Trauma Center series of games. As Resurgam’s best surgeon, he’ll be handling cases involving invasive surgery to manually go inside the patient’s body and sort problems out personally. You’ll be doing a lot of careful slicing and stitching, along with carefully monitoring the operational situation and maintaining the patient’s vitals. Unlike previous games, there’s no time limit for the surgery portions. Don’t expect the game to be a walk in the park, though; you’ll still need to be precise to become a master surgeon.

Elementary, My Dear Player
Gabriel Cunningham doesn’t deal with curing patients, but in a way his job can be harder: finding out just what’s wrong with the patient in the first place. In addition to taking scans and comparing the results to baseline analyses, you’ll have to figure out which conditions match the symptoms the patients are presenting and deduce what the most likely cause is. There’s a measure of psychology involved as well, because sometimes patients can’t or won’t say exactly what’s wrong with them. You’ll have to think on your feet and know how to read between the lines to understand what they’re trying to tell you—and uncover what they’re trying to avoid telling you.

E.M.T., It's Dynamite
Maria Torres may not be equipped to handle the most delicate surgical procedures, but her job is to stabilize patients so that they can get to the hospital. Emergency situations are hectic and fast-paced, with multiple patients to monitor at any given moment. You’ll need to be able to switch back and forth between patients to keep them all alive while stabilizing the worst of the injuries to prepare the patients for transport. Think of it as juggling, but instead of catching balls you’re preventing people from dying.

No Bones About It
Hank Freebird is an orthopedic surgeon; his operations don’t necessarily have life-or-death consequences, but they do have a lasting impact on the quality of life for the patient forever afterward. For a character who’s so big and bulky, you may be surprised to learn that Dr. Freebird’s operations require the most delicate touch and the most precise movement. There’s no hurry, so be absolutely sure of what you’re doing before you take action. Whether you’re driving pins into a fractured femur or carving a segment of artificial bone, you’ll have to stay at the top of your game and keep your reflexes rock-solid.

Tunnel Vision
Tomoe Tachibana’s endoscopic surgeries are a drastic departure from the standard Trauma Center experience. You’ll be guiding an endoscope into the human body, steering the camera with one hand while feeding the cable in with the other. The human body is a dark place from the inside, and you’ll need to navigate by flashlight as you make your way further and further within the fully 3-dimensional environment. The tools on the endoscope have a limited range, so you’ll need to identify affected areas to treat, move the camera close to them, and perform the treatment without harming the patient by carelessly moving around and bumping into things.

Reach Out To The Truth
Naomi Kimishima may no longer be a practitioner of medicine, but she puts her training to use as a forensics expert for the city of Cumberland. The incurable disease that threatens to take her life at any moment and without warning hasn’t affected her considerable mental faculties at all, though perhaps she now sees things with a certain fatalism that she wouldn’t have before... While playing as Dr. Kimishima, players will need to solve deadly crimes by finding, analyzing, and corroborating evidence found on the scene and on the bodies of the victims. You’ll have access to the crime scene as well as be able to examine the bodies for any injuries or clues that could lead to identifying the circumstances behind their death. Things are never as they seem at first glance, and only through careful understanding of the facts can the truth finally come to light.

No time limit on surgeries? That's new. Interesting, too. o.o
