Default Atlus summons more copies of Demon's Souls into stores across North America

ATLUS SUMMONS MORE COPIES OF DEMON'S SOULS INTO STORES ACROSS NORTH AMERICA;
DELUXE EDITION SOLD OUT, OFFICIALLY DISCONTINUED

Own one of the best reviewed RPGs of all-time!

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 19, 2009 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today announced that additional stock of Demon's Souls™, the newly released award-winning action RPG for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, will be making its way to stores across North America this week in response to overwhelming demand.

"We're thrilled at the level of interest and acclaim gamers are showing for Demon's Souls, one of the best reviewed games of the year and one of the highest-rated role-playing games of all time," stated Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus. "We're working quickly to get more copies of the game out onto store shelves. We thank fans for supporting a daring, innovative product, and we ask interested gamers to be patient as stock is replenished."

The publisher also announced that the game's Deluxe Edition, which featured a 160-page strategy guide and collectible embossed slipcase, is now considered out of print in North America and will not be remanufactured.

"While the now discontinued Deluxe Edition of Demon's Souls was the only way to obtain the game's official strategy guide, the title already benefits from an in-game messaging system, a tremendous online community, and dozens of online resources for players who are finding the game to be a bit challenging."

Among those online resources is the official Demon's Souls wiki (LINK), which offers a central location for community members to share what they've learned about the surprises that await in the Kingdom of Boletaria. As more and more people discover the game, the community-driven assistance tools expand in quality and breadth, ensuring that while gamers are tested during their adventures, they never have to be frustrated.

"Mr. Jabbari," interrupted a frantic worker. "The game-making engines... They just can't take much more of this! They're going to blow," cried the man in a thick Scottish accent before turning about and returning to the game-making furnaces, soon followed by Jabbari.

Demon's Souls is out now for PlayStation 3 system and retails with an MSRP of $59.99. For more information, visit the game's official website (LINK).

Praise for Demon's Souls:

9/10, Editor's Choice Award
"Brutally challenging and utterly engrossing, this innovative role-playing game is one of the year's best." (GameSpot)

94%, Editor's Choice Award "It's utterly unique among the offerings on any console right now, and absolutely, positively should not be missed." (Sam Bishop, IGN)

9.5/10
"Gorgeous, thoughtful, and complete unto itself, it's the second-best title I've played this year. Maybe even better." (Play Magazine)

5/5
"Demon's Souls is the best game I've played all year." (RPGamer)

95/100
"Without question, Demon's Souls is one of 2009's finest titles, and an amazing, challenging journey without equal." (GameCritics)

94/100, Editor's Choice Award
"This is a truly exceptional RPG experience that hasn't been offered by any other game in its genre." (GameZone)

Good for Atlus and From Software. I had two people in front of me at Gamestop asking for copies when I went to pick up Uncharted last week....Which, btw, still hasn't made it into the PS3.

Bravo Atlus!

I'm very happy this game is doing so well because... well it essentially means I'll have more people to play with. Hurrah!

Hopefully people who have heard the word of mouth can get their paws on this game.

Nooooo! I really need that players guide. The wiki just isn't enough any plans to release it separately?

This is great news for all those people who didn't pre-order and couldn't get a hold of a copy! I'm glad that there is such a demand for Demon's Souls. To be honest, I thought this game was just going to fade into obscurity like its predecessors, the games of the King's Field series.

Wow! I didn't think Demon's souls would do this well! It's great to see a game like Demon's Souls get the recognition it deserves. Its one of the few games that got me so hooked, I can't stop thinking about it even if it isn't in my face!

I'm glad that the deluxe edition is out of print. The guide is a piece of junk for the extra $10. The color on the cover can easily wear off. Just by holding it for few minutes then the color will wear off right away.

So much for deluxe when my guide look like it has been used for hundred time.

Agreed, I think about it at school. I haven't had that happen to me since the original Resident Evil.

Meh, I really wanted the deluxe edition but I just could not justify paying $70 for a video game. Although I was told the guide was a piece of crap so in that case I'm glad I didn't buy it.

I guess my wish of a Black Friday deal on this won't happen. Amazon magically had some copies of the ToV Special Edition for Black Friday last year so who knows...

Whoever told you that about the guide was so wrong it isn't even funny. Yes the ink washes out, but the actual content of the guide is dead on accurate and gives all the info a person needs to plan their characters effectively. As for the walkthrough part I can't say since I never read it.

Even the walkthrough is useful for people who have yet to play through it. I love hearing these people who get all bent out of shape about the ink wearing off of the cover - Who cares? The information the actual guide provides is well worth the $10 - Especially considering Atlus could have easily charged twice that amount and people would have bought it.

considering how rare the Deluxe Edition is, I wonder how rare a Deluxe Edition guide with an unfaded condition cover will be

True, but if you are buying simply as a collector's item - You shouldn't be opening the packaging anyway.

Yeah I didn't really buy it as a collector's item but I would like a new guide just so that it looks better on my gameshelf. Now it looks like I have a weird white book in my DESG slipcover.

This game spread like the video tape in the ring. Ruining lives and relationships in it's path. For shame Atlus/FS. For shame. And thanks.

you know .... this is so true ... I take great care of my products and i am happy to say that all my ps3 game discs are mint condition with no scratches ... not even light ones even after having them for 2 years.

I took the same care with the strategy guide and found out that putting into the slip case and then sliding the game case in after it ... wore out the edge on it ... now its white edge !!! grrrr ... its ok though ... nothing some clear plastic cant fix. The strat guide is useful for people who dont have laptops and dont want to turn on their comp / phone browser. It has everything and is detailed and tbh ... i love it.

Otherwise if you dont mind using your comp while playing. or phone ... everything ... and more is online.

As for Atlus ... great that this turned out to be such a success. I am really glad that From Software is profiting as well. I truly hope they make more games as epic as this and Armored Core For Answer

Lightbulb We need a Strat

I love it when I can play the game and look at a guide when I'm stuck. But since Atlus likes to make people guess at the game it really makes it harder to get into it. They could just put a strat out for weapon, spell use and some level play. So if Atlus is reading this get on the ball and put a STRATEGY GUIDE OUT!!!!! not just one that comes with the deluxe edition.

I know I don't like stopping my game to go over to my PC to get info! I'd rather have my strat by my side.

Default Greetings from Canada!

Hi, just curious if there's an ETA on re-stocking Demon's Souls for Canadian retailers? Even just a few days ago I noticed that places such as Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Newegg.com all had the game in stock but not the Canadian counterparts. I can't even find a used copy of the game at EBGames.
