Strategy-Guide cover [ink washes out]
Hi Folks, i'm from germany.
So sorry about any bad spelling in this post.
First, i'm realy happy about the Deluxe Edition, it's great. But today i realized an issue with the Strategy-Guide.
To make it short, the Ink on the bookletcover gets washed or blured just by touching it.
To get it understandable i link a picture of what happend just from holding the book in my hands to read it.
http://www.npshare.de/files/fae57056/IMG_1822.JPG
Anyone of you have the same Issue?
I mailed Atlus customer service. Hopefully they send me a newone, becouse i'm a collector of games and the Deluxe Edition is one of my favorite item in my collection. But a Strategy-Guide looking like this sucks hard.
UPDATE:
I just got an reply from Atlus on my Mail. it seems they are investigating this issue.
everyone who has this problem should let Atlus know about it !

Hi, ......
We are currently investigating the cause of why this is happening, and asking our customers for feedback about this matter. If you could tell us about the condition of the manual before you started using it (did it have any markings before it was removed from the original packaging?), and also how many times it was handled before taking the picture, it would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably because they are about 10 bucks.

I still do not believe in this line of argument. I have bought plenty of books that cost $10 and their covers don't melt upon use. I am of the opinion that they could have used a different material for the cover, one that maintained the price yet still doesn't bleed ink.

should not happen, even if they are about 10 bucks.
if this happes do other peoples this seems to be a manufacturing error with the impregnation of the Ink they used

So far, the majority (if not all) of the people with the guide have complained about this. At least as far as I've seen.

Use kitchen gloves!
No, I am just kidding. I've had the same problem with other booklets but not with this specific one. Through my years of collecting video games I've learned that the best way to hold paper products like this is by their very edges, so you don't touch much of the paint. I know, it shouldn't have to be like that but those booklets are mostly overly painted to look good so it's only natural that they should cause...problems.

Nope, the complaints eventually just died down once everyone got addicted to the game.

Well it's happening to mine too, but I don't really mind. I find it's only the cover that's fading, at least the information inside isn't

Yeah my cover is now white with my finger prints, happened this morning. and the binding is almost pure white.
As long as the inside info is good i'm happy though.
This was a great CE even if the book wears VERY fast.

Yep the spine and edges of mine are all white now just from holding it and flipping the pages.
It also has an irregular smell from the pages. Never smelt that from any other book or strategy guide.

Same for mine. I liked the deluxe version of the game but the strategy guide print quality is really bad. It's a shame because the info within it is quite good.
They don't make em like they used to!

You just haven't played it enough, like the game your book will shift to white world tendency from dark with no real reason

mine is neutral ATM (binding part is spreading though). Soon enough it'll be pure white and then the book will reveal how the hell WT actually works for real lol

Maybe when you are reading it, you start to get nervous or anxious over the game and the sweat from your palms and fingers wears it out

I haven't had a problem QUITE that bad but a little bit of paint did come off of my copy on the edge. Kind of makes me want to not touch the thing unless my hands are bone dry.
And of course it'll just make the copies of the dorks who never take the thing out of its case and play it all that much more valuable. Ugh.

Mine is still in great condiction. The problem is the way you treat it.
Wash your hands and don't abuse the book. All books fade and get worn out when you treat them like crap. Most of you are breaking the spine right off the bat I bet.

No, this is definitely an unusual amount of wear. If it were in a bookstore you wouldn't be able to sell it unless it were wrapped in plastic, because all the covers would be screwed up.
I mean part of the problem is it looks like there isn't any kind of (significant) protection/lamination on the cover. Even the crappiest of paperbacks tends to have that. What you're seeing in that image isn't someone dogearing the thing and screwing up the binding, it's actual ink coming off of it.

I'm a collector of Games, and i know how to treat them well. In this case it's just like the Ink is fading away just from touching it. I never had such an issue with any book/guide i bought.
Definitely Not Normal !

Finally a common thread for this issue! I realised the spine of my guide was turning white after reading about it somewhere else so I've been using the guide with maternal care preventing the damage to spread. Still, the quality of such a high collector's material (not sold separately) is very questionable... I'm sad
