SMT: Devil Summoner 2 shows off its package
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI®: DEVIL SUMMONER®2 SHOWS OFF ITS PACKAGE
Popular publisher likely to regret choice of words in header
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- APRIL 22, 2009 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today unveiled the special deluxe package for the upcoming action RPG Shin Megami Tensei®: Devil Summoner®2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. Limited in quantity but not in quality (zing), this premium bundle is the ultimate SMT collectible and the centerpiece of the publisher's Atlus Spoils fan appreciation program. Each and every set includes SMT: Devil Summoner 2, the new chapter in the stunningly original action RPG series, and Raiho, the plushie that will steal your heart (if he doesn't try to eat your soul first).
Improved over its predecessor in every way, Devil Summoner 2 is an action RPG breath of fresh air, with a deep, intuitive combat system, combined with nearly two hundred demons to negotiate with, collect, and fuse. Gamers will discover a variety of strategies to employ and master. Experience a 1920's Tokyo bustling with cases to solve, criminals to bring to justice, and the threat of the mysterious King Abaddon looming on the horizon.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon is scheduled to negotiate its way into retailers on May 12, 2009.

###
About Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2:
A new threat to Japan's Capital calls for the return of its case-solving, tube-slinging Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha the 14th. When a woman walks into the Narumi Detective Agency and asks to find a man, Raidou's boss is reluctant to accept, but soon it's clear there's more to the case than it seems on the surface. It isn't long before Raidou is on the trail of crooked gamblers, masked ninja, and strange insects... a trail leading him inexorably to the mysterious King Abaddon.
Key Features- Massively upgraded battle system — Advancements to the battle mechanics include a MAG balancing system, dodge and hide abilities, and the ability to command two demons in combat. Use the retooled Weapon Alchemy system to create new swords with unique special attacks.
- Deeper demon integration — Demon negotiation returns with more than twice the number of demons to attempt to recruit to your side. Create more powerful demons through fusion and skill transfer. Control two demons in battle and choose from more tactical options.
- Phenomenal creative team — The rich environment of this Taisho-era Japan comes to life with the character designs of Kazuma Kaneko and the musical score of Shoji Meguro.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha versus King Abaddon has been rated "M" for Mature with Blood, Sexual Themes, and Violence by the ESRB.

It's...so beautiful.
And it's nice to see that the Pirates who kidnapped the plushies were thwarted.

lol.....3 minutes after I post in the main announcement about this because I didn't see anything about it. Now its here. Oh well, I'll leave my post there.
However, like I said in my original post there. The fact that in the e-mail Atlus said "
Special delivery, Faithful! Months after we first announced what could very well be the PlayStation 2's RPG swansong (hint: Devil Summoner 2)", could mean we are witnessing Atlus releasing their last PS2 title?
honestly it's not that surprising since Atlus is one, if not the last, few companies to move over to the next gen system for their main flagship titles.
That alone in the e-mail is pretty big news if you ask me.

lol, you'll probably be lucky to even get one? Since this game is getting a
"very limited print run" according to Atlus.
I gotta wonder though....just how many copies does that mean? Personally I think what it means is, that Atlus will print as many copies as there are pre-orders. In other words, if there are 10,000 pre-orders, there'll only be 10,000 copies made, and a few extras in case those damn pirates decide to show up again and steal the plushies...So it probably won't be something you can waltz into the store and just find on the shelf.
Pre-ordering is probably the only time to do it, if you want 2 copies for sure that is.

Looks great. I'll probably end up putting it back in the package after I finish the game for display purposes.

I already pre-ordered one copy off Amazon already...which actually leads me to another question: I wonder if this still qualifies for free shipping? When I ordered it, I got free shipping with it. But the package looks pretty big.
I guess ordering two of them would be greedy, and pretty pointless, but it would be awesome to have a sealed version on the shelf.

Yeah, it should still have free-shipping since I checked mine just the other day. It's kind of funny because they lowered the price of the game, but I wonder if that was before they realized the size of the game?
Oh well, I'm sure Amazon has shipped heavier/larger things than this for free before anyways.

This is my second time ordering off of Amazon (first time was...Persona 2: EP reprint ), so I wasn't really sure if they would just ship small, thin things for free and the rest at a cost. I'd probably pay the shipping fee anyways, but still. Free is always welcome!
I haven't actually checked my order in a while despite ordering Devil Survivor yesterday...hurm.

I just checked mine. To my surprise even though I ordered on January 30th...like the day preorders went up, they got it listed to ship on the 18th when it comes out on the 12th, and it's due to "Arrive" May 26th - June 1st. WTF?
I'm thinking of probably changing my shipping speed, but I gotta say even then paying for the 2 days, it'll arrive on May 19th? I suppose that's better but I've read somewhere that pre-orders usually arrive the day or day after it releases, I don't know how true that is though.

SO thought this was gonna be a special edition when I read the title. Glad it's not, though.

*cough* Fallout 3 Survival Edition *cough*
I am rather impressed about the package. I knew it was going to be something for display purposes (due to it being individually numbered) but I didn't expect a huge window of opportunity.
Bravo Atlus!

That's bull####. I pre-order Atlus items extremely frequently from Amazon and with Free Super Saver Shipping I usually don't get them for a half-week to a week after release. I still don't have The Dark Spire even though I pre-ordered at the beginning of March. The people who say they get theirs extremely quickly likely live near major Amazon distribution hubs.
Oh, and this packaging looks pretty sweet. I'm considering ordering another for the collecting value, but there's a lot of Atlus goodies coming up for DS so maybe not.
