Will I be lost if I haven't played Xenosaga?
KOS-MOS from Xenosaga has been mentioned quite a bit on these forums, and I finally watched the Japanese trailer of the game which has her in it and it seems she's a major character. If I haven't played any of the Xenosaga titles will I be really lost?
EDIT: BTW the gameplay in the Japanese trailer looks AWESOME! I can't wait for April!

Not at all. Xenosaga really has nothing to do with this game. KOS-MOS is merely a cameo from that universe, but as far as I know there are no tie-ins with the Xenosaga series.

As these guys said; KOS-MOS and T-elos are only in cameo only. So there's no need to play any of the Episodes.

I only have Xenosaga episode 1 that I got from F.Y.E for 17 bucks. I might get the others later heck I haven't even started to play one yet.

Make sure you have a good chunk of time to dedicate to your play sessions and consider having some popcorn on hand.

Yeah dude. Heck, I spent a good 60-70 game hours. Half of this was dedicated to a certain sidequest.

Hrm you dont really have to, since they are not really directly connected.
You'll find funny remarks from KOS-MOS on the battles though hehe

Thanks everyone! I was a bit worried as I don't have a PS2 at the moment, though I've been planning to pick one up cheap before the year ends.

At the very least, play Episode III. In my opinion, it's the best of the XS series and the KOS-MOS in Endless Frontier is based on her model from Episode III.

No, don't play Xenosaga.
Just play Xenogears instead.

The sort answer: no, they are mostly cameos as most here said. Long answer: Only if you want to know more about KOS-MOS and T-elos. (as to why t-elos wants to destroy KOS-MOS) As far as the games I suggest that you play Xenogears first. Not only is it one of the best RPGS on the playstaion but it has One of the most epic robots ever! For Xenosaga it all depends; Xenosaga 1 is the worst with the over use of cinema, Xenosaga 2 improved with gameplay and Xenosaga 3 was the best overall. (it is kind of like the first star wars movies)
For those who want to see kos-mos and t-elos in action I have they’re First battle in Xenosaga III. There are some spoilers in it but this shows those who are now playing endless frontier will know how kos-mos lost her last body. I am right now at the point in endless frontier where you fight t-elos for the first time. (or as haken called her "hot coffee bot", lol)

I'd suggest removing your "body" comment for KOS MOS, considering that it's spoilers for people who haven't played Xenosaga III, but plan to play OG Frontier.

This game really has nothing to do with Xenosaga.
If you feel you must play Xenosaga, play the first one, skip the second one (because it is the worst RPG ever concieved in some time) and then get Xenosaga III and watch the Xenosaga II digest DVD before playing that. Xenogears is also something to play if you really care to go that far back, but its only vaguely connected to the Xenosaga series.
But in terms of story for SRT OG Saga, KOS-MOS is a crossover character and her background is of little importance. Same thing for Reiji and Xiaomu, though thier appearance will make you wish Namco had released Namco X Capcom out here, they're fun characters.

I agree but Xenosaga is good for those who love the whole "God is dead" theories by Friedrich Nietzsche.
Damn I like to see Monolith revive that game on psn or something. You don't really need to know KOS-MOS, since she describe her relationship to T-elos (somewhat) though she does somewhat reference Shion which may be somewhat confusing to Xenogear virgins, but just wiki those parts if they bother you.

Like the others say: You don't have to play Xenosaga. Even Reiji and Xiaomu are from different games too. (NamcoxCapcom) but Kos-Mos is also in NxC too. The characters do mention stuff from their respective games but overall there is no need. Just enjoy Endless Frontier
