Are you the best Luminous Arc 2'er on the planet? As an Atlus Faithful member, you will have the chance to compete for the title of Best Luminous Arc 2 Tactician*!

To be eligible, you must be a member of the Atlus Faithful (if you can read this, you are), have a copy of Luminous Arc 2, and have internet access. In January, we'll send an email asking who would like to join, and from those respondents we'll randomly select 48 participants. (Some of these spots may be given out for representatives of certain websites.) Every participant will be given a super limited prize. I know what you're thinking. You're probably like, "Oh, it's just a leftover artbook or soundtrack. Big deal, I already have those."

WRONG.

This is an even more limited trinket. It's a Luminous Arc business card holder. It's metal, it's got Lucia on the front, and you'll be the envy of every Luminous Arc fan on the internet who isn't one of the lucky 48. The lucky/skilled person who wins it all will get the business card holder as well as their choice of: A SIGNED copy of the Luminous Art book, a choice from a list of older Atlus titles or a giant promotional Luminous Arc 2 box art poster. Secone place will get their choice of whatever's left, and third place gets the item that the second place winner doesn't choose.

Since Luminous Arc 2 doesn't keep track of win-loss records, we're going to be relying on good old-fashioned honesty. Based on the response for the tournament, combined with the number of disputes we have, we may or may not run future tournament style events for the Faithful. This will all depend on everyone playing nice.

Official Rules

1) Atlus and Atlus U.S.A. employees are not eligible for this tournament.

2) You must have a copy of Luminous Arc 2 and be wi-fi play capable in order to participate. If you are selected, you must prove that you actually own a copy of Luminous Arc 2 by take a picture of the inside box with a piece of paper or something with your forum name on it. (No, you can't just Photoshop your name onto it. Everyone's got some sort of digital camera these days.) Post the pic to the forum. (Use imageshack or something.)

3) You must be a member of the Atlus Faithful and have a Atlus forum account to participate.

4) You and your opponent must agree to the time and date in the Atlus forum in the Official Tournament thread prior to playing. (Therefore, if you do not have a forum account right now, you should probably sign up for one. We’re giving you plenty of time to activate your account.) You will have 5 days to do so. If all matches are finished before the 5-day period is over, we will speed up the following round.

5) 6 characters must be used, and NONE of them can be ABOVE Level 45. This must be verified by making a post in the Atlus forum before starting the game. (This is why we're telling you now. Keep a tourney save and a normal one.)

Note: After discussion I've decided to ask to a restart of the match if the map that comes up is Colosseum of Luck.

The following items have also been banned: Drive-Max, Drive Soda, Flare Bomb, Grenade, Dynamite, and ManaMaterial.

6) At the end of the match, the victor and the loser must verify the result of the match with a follow-up post in the forum.

In the event of a no show:

If Player A sets up a time in the forum and Player B does not respond at all before the 5-day period is up, Player A automatically advances.
If Player A and Player B make no postings in the forum within the 5 day period, they are both eliminated.

In the event of a dispute:

If Player A and Player B dispute the result of a match, you must replay the match if possible within the 5-day limit. If that is not possible, or if the replay is disputed, both players will be “flagged” and a random event will determine who advances to the next round. If a “flagged” player is involved in another dispute, the “flagged” player automatically loses the dispute and is eliminated.

This tournament is limited to North American players.

In...January? That means I have to take a break from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World just to train! Darn... But I've never been able to compete in a tournament before. Well, they had entry fees, were inconvenient to attend, and had entry fees. I hope I can score one of those 48- spots.

Actually, I don't even have the game yet. I ordered from Amazon on the 11th of October. Hopefully that was in time for the bonus art.

But how will this work? Trade friend codes, fight each other, then report who won? Honesty is my thing, but isn't it true most people would lie to get ahead? If two people said they won, then what? Disqualify both? Clearly this is only going to work if everyone tells the truth, if there's no way to watch the match. Hmm... There should be a way to do that.

Oh, I suggest adding to the official rules something along the lines of no Action Replays or similar hacking devices being allowed to alter the game's natural function before and during the tournament. It wouldn't be fair if someone power-leveled all the way, right?

Well, it wouldn't matter for level specifically if caps could be set, but I don't know if that's possible. I said I didn't have the game earlier, and I don't see the need to research that tidbit of information right now.

Well, you have to figure they will have a level limit, so maybe you can save at a lower level. I mean if it were completely open to any level, you could never control the interaction.

Okay before we go all out into this what are some rules?
There are a few things we/I need to know before the power leveling begins:
1: Level Caps? Are there any and if so what is it.
2: Banned Items? Is there any equipment that we can't use like Rega and stuff. Also can we use items?
3: How many characters will fight? *I'm not going to level Pip... EVER*
4: Any characters we cannot use?

Other then that this should be loads of fun killing :3

You are as prepared for this tournament as you can be, aside from sharpening your skillz.

The only thing anyone else would need to do until further notice would be to sign up for the Atlus Faithful and sign up for the forums.

I was hopeful and excited when I saw the date as January, because I preordered the game and had it shipped to an aunt in California so she could bring it along to a family meetup for me in the Philippines in December, but then I got to the VERY end of the post.

WAAAAAAAAAAAH. TIME ZOOOOONES.

I suppose it would be highly impractical to arrange matches worldwide, though...

Interesting.....except my copy is in my college mailroom while I'm here on thanksgiving break. I won't be seeing it for another 4 days or so. I might actually try a few battles online to see where I stand in comparison to most people. I'll also have to get used to any differences between the first game and this one, but I should be good to go, I think. This'll be fun.
