Valkyrie of the Battlefield: Gallian Chronicles
Valkyrie of the Battlefield: Gallian Chronicles is an upcoming Strategy RPG developed by SEGA for the Playstation 3. It is set in the fictional world of Europa, in the country of Gallia, which has come under attack by an enemy nation. Players take control of an uprising of Gallian nationals, dedicated to repelling the invasion. The game's visuals have received a lot of attention, featuring sketch-style cel-shading of such high quality that it has attracted favorable comparisons to animations by Studio Ghibli.

Gameplay
Valkyrie of the Battlefield features a unique turn-based battle system called BLiTZ (Battle of Live Tactical Zones). In-between turns players are treated to an overhead map view, but zoom in to control each individual unit on the battlefield. Movement and other actions are handled in real time, though limited by an AP gauge that varies for each character. This gauge can recharge even during the same turn as you operate other characters. Additionally, players are in direct control of the characters' aim, allowing for headshots and other advantages. The environment also factors heavily in combat. In an urban level, for example, snipers can be sent onto rooftops to eliminate unsuspecting enemies below while tanks and other units can outmaneuver enemy positions via the streets.
Each character in the game fulfills a unique role - for instance, Alicia Melchiott is a mid-range rifle unit, while her male companion Welkin Gunther is a tank driver. There are also a host of other units including short-range machine gunners, heavy artillery, and snipers.

I really got sad when I learned that Operation Darkness was coming to North America, seeing as I'm now leaning toward buying a PS3 when I have cash and time, but I think this will even it out. I don't feel so bad anymore.

I get this game confused with Operation Darkness. I'll definetly pick this up if it sees a U.S release.
Reminds me of a sub par game called Future Tactics.

I dunno. I liked Future Tactics. It wasn't anything revolutionary, but it was simple and fun. The multiplayer was also a nice thing to add. Seems like a no brainer, but most games like it don't have multiplayer.
Maybe I should check out some video footage of this game, because I honestly have no idea what it plays like. I just assumed it was a third person shooter.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it too; their really isn't anything like it out there. It certainly wasn't going to win any awards, but with a price tag of 20 dollars on release, it was definetly worth it.

This is the best video game related news of the day. I love it when Sega makes me eat my words. Now, hopefully it's vintage Sega like Ryu ga Gotoku and Feel the Magic are.

Yes. The 360 will actually drive you to the moon. That is how powerful it is.
I once used a 360 as a spare tire. It still worked after I was done.

This is a day one purchase for me. Quite possibly the first one too (unless I hunker down and get Gran Turismo 5: prologue or MG:O)

I've already played through CoD:4 on the 360, Borrowed my roommates rig to play it.
I as yet do not own it on the PS3, but I might soon how does it hold up?
