Atlus-O-Weenie 2008 - Halloween Costume Contest
It's that time of year again. Leaves are turning red, the weather's starting to cool, and your local coffee shop conglomerates are likely now well-stocked in a variety of pumpkin-spiced concoctions. Halloween nears, and with it comes the 2008 Atlus-O-Weenie Costume Contest!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last year's Grand Prize winner - Hackfire
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dress yourselves as your favorite Atlus characters from your favorite Atlus games and enter the running for some excellent swag.
This year we will feature a web-based image submission system which will go live in October. We will not be accepting submissions until that time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ONE Grand Prize Winner will receive... - -Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 Poster signed by Masayuki Doi (character designer)
-Growlanser: Illustration Archive signed by Satoshi Urushihara (character designer)
-Etrian Odyssey 2: Heroes of Lagaard 3-disc Music Collection
-Set of 3 Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns Posters (including the super-rare third unreleased mini-poster)
-Persona 4 T-Shirt
-Dokapon Kingdom (your choice of PS2 or Wii)
-Large hardback promotional poster of an Atlus title of your choice (subject to availability)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FIVE randomly-selected runners-up will receive... - -Growlanser: Illustration Archive signed by Satoshi Urushihara (character designer)
-Persona 4 T-Shirt
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We'll start accepting entries in October, letting the contest run all the way through the fabled day of candy and gorgeries (Oct. 31).
Remember, Atlus fans: the Grand Prize will not necessarily go to the most elaborate costume, or the most accurate... It's about which costume we like the most, so it could be any aspect of your entry that could win you our favor and get you over the top!
You've got nearly two months... Let the costuming begin!
I mean the second reverse cover art poster. They have 1 of the reverse cover art as a prize but not the other.
This reverse cover art:
EDIT:Removed image because its not necessary since I am an Idiot.
I only see the actual insert posters up there. No reverse covers (there were 2 as I recall). If you're counting that way, then there's 5. Are you saying there's 5 posters? Are you sure you don't know something we don't know? C'mon, fes up.
It seems I'm a bigger idiot than I thought I am. I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention and mistook the GameStop poster for the reverse cover art picture and was wondering why they give that away and didn't give the other reverse cover.
Well, I'm sorry about my idiocy, and my mistake but there are only those 3 posters.
While the Persona 4 shirts are quite rad (I got one thanks to the GameStop conference), do they come in medium? I got an XL and I'm swimming in the thing. L is too big as well. . . any chance of smaller shirts being made?
I think they are going to tell us soon. Its got to be a very busy time there now what with all the goodies being worked on. I am really psyched to see this year's entries, they keep getting better. Maybe they'll throw a Teddy plushie in on the deal!
I'm just throwing this out there...
But if someone dresses up as a Zoid, I'd be pretty impressed.
Hikari, I don't think there's an official submission solution yet. But don't worry, I'm sure there will be a way before the contest expires. Plus, theoretically, you should be dressing up as the character this year, and going to parties where you share your love of Atlus.
A plea
I am asking early, as I am a lonely man that spends all his time here in front of the computer. Let's see some Vanessas, Izunas, Carmillas, Cynthias, maybe a Kopin or two thrown in there, I mean, as much as I like looking at Zoids Ass. art, I would prefer something a little softer and rounder.
This sucks. I can't find a cheap Minato costume or a Fencer Costume.
EDIT: I didn't mean the contest o_O
I want to dress up as the Protagonist from Baroque, but I don't know if I can lose enough weight to get that "emaciated Ethiopian" look that he has in only a month.
This kind of slipped into the site without any of us being informed... A.R.A.M. needs to have his notification software updated! Anyway, the official submission form appears to be up.
FYI: I don't agree with that cutoff time as it is now. I'm going to argue for some more leeway for you people to actually go to parties, take action shots, then sleep it off and clean yourselves up from the debauchery before you have to put your pictures up.
While I wouldn't mind seeing those either, pleading for it is probably counter-productive due to creepiness. Hell, I'm a little creeped out and I'm not a chick.
On Truth and Beauty
Oh, Oletheros, I am sorry you find the Atlus form so disturbing. I hoped everyone here would be more open minded about such things. Besides, you stare at Zoids Ass. all you want, I'll take Fatima.
Um, yeah. I'm plenty open minded. I was simply pointing out the fact that by actually asking, you were decreasing the chances of it actually occuring.
You can choose not to believe me, but I speak the truth.
Also, I really don't care. Do as you want.
Exhibitionists need Voyeurs sir. Methinks you need a refresher course.
That and you can't expect to get what you don't ask for.
Like right now, I waaaaaaant to seeeeeee, mmmmm, uuh, Gwendolyn, yeah, Gwendolyn. Alright y'all, help me out. Aaaaaaannd, how about something strange from saaaaaay P2.
I don't see why you couldn't? If you need pics to make the costume from I can supply you. I'd love to see some YU costumes.
The problem is that I don't have the materials or what not.
Also, where'd you get the Flunky Portrait? Do you have a Russell version?
Oh man, I didn't know they'd show last year's entries in the e-mail. I'm scanning through it and all of a sudden "Hey, that looks like my costume from last. . . AH! That *is* me!" Ugh, now I've been exposed to the whole Atlus Faithful mailing list. >.>
lol, and yet, I'll do it again this year! Woo-hoo!
I'm really excited about finally entering one of my costumes into a contest. I've been too shy in the past to do contests at conventions. I submitted photos of myself as Velvet from Odin Sphere. I'm a huge Urushihara fan, so I'm crossing my fingers, hoping I get a signed book! That is an excellent prize. I almost fainted when I seen it.
