Issue #1: OPERATION LOCALIZE!
Our inaugural diary takes a look at Operation Darkness, everyone's favorite WWII-Zombie-Werewolf-Vampire strategy RPG for Xbox 360. Project Coordinator Sammy Matsushima and Editor Jason Ruper detail the process of localizing the game, touching on matters such as bringing as much historical accuracy and depth to the project as possible (in addition to all the occult and supernatural content), not to mention a few allusions and an homage or two you might not know about.
Every 15th and final day of the month, we'll have a new entry posted for your reading pleasure, so please check back often!

I wasn't really too sure about this game at first, but the little tidbits of info have peaked my interest a bit.

The whole production diary concept is pretty interesting. I hope they keep up with it.
I had no clue that OD had such a colorful cast (other than the werewolves). The more I hear about OD the more I want to give it a whirl.

Operation Darkness is the codename for a cosplay orgy?

Very obvious, yes. I'm pretty sure he was inviting someone to do that.

Then that's called entrapment, because when I made the joke someone deleted it.

I really liked the information in the developer log and my only wish is that I had a 360 to play it on because it looks like it rocks! Sigh...

I've convinced two of my 360 owning friends to buy this game. Holla at my skills.

I like the concept of a localization diary. The process is really interesting to me.
Operation Darkness, with its somewhat generic title, never caught my attention. However, after reading that I'm much more interested.

Iiiiinteresting.... Yet another title that makes me wish that I had a 360.
But yeah, the title really could be a bit more catchy. "Operation Darkness" is just too... meh.
Now, if someone came out with a game called "Operation Localize", I'm right there on the pre-order line.

Very awesome. I've always wanted to know stories of how localization is done and just how fun/frustrating it is to those involved.
The small tidbits in the diary really made me want the game even more, but sadly, I don't have a 360 yet I may actually buy the game even before I get my 360, because I know I'll get one eventually...it's just a matter of "when." Besides, the concept is like a nerdgasm...it just rocks.
I really hope this feature lives...

I like the whole he whole production diary idea. I hope it actually stays updated and doesn't fade into obscurity or something.
And I really think Operation Darkness looks cool. If I had a 360, I'd probably be way more interested in it. But if/when i do get a 360, it'll definitely be on top of my must buy list with Ace Combat 6, Ninja Gaiden 2, Dead Rising, and Dead or Alive 4. Regardless of how good OD actually is, that's a nice list to be a part of.

Too bad 360 is one of my Official Enemies.
You should have used another platform. Don't feed the box!

I'd love to hear your reasoning for boycotting a console.

The XBox was pretty boring, but they're doing a lot of things right with the 360 despite what they did with the hardware design.

great to see the Detail and depth in Story thats being put into the game
I'm just kinda ticked because i now have to save up and buy wii,360,ps3
since it looks like Atlus is finally breaking into "next gen" hopefully you will still continue on the current ps2
also I'm wondering since it involves so much Occult History and story
will there be any secret Atlus easter eggs?
i.e. SMT demons (Jack frost? lol) or characters from other games?

I like the production diary.
I find the concept of Operation Darkness intriguing. Unfortunately, I find the camera of Operation Darkness maddening.
So it's a wait-and-see for me.

I finally got around to playing the demo last night, and between the fun I had with that and what' I've read so far in this diary, the game has been moved from a maybe to a definite for me to get.

This idea seems excellent, Atlus. I hope you keep at it and produce many more of these interesting diaries.
