favorite weapon? favorite level?
What weapon do you enjoy using most?
What levels (worlds) do you like?
I am not actually sure that it is my favorite, but I really enjoyed 5-2 last night, slicing and dicing with the kiji+7 and fireballing the heck out of those giant creepy beasts. The 5-2 boss was a little easy, but maybe that is a good thing, given the hard to find door of the boss.
I typically use a dragon sword but found that despite what the info says, the kiji is pretty good on armor, not just flesh. Maybe that is because I soften many enemies up with fireballs on the approach. The kiji looks cool too.
Spice is never an issue, as I can always go to 1-4 between levels and reverse at the archstone to kill the three red eyes for 7500 souls with the ring that allows for more souls per kill. Then it is back to the Nexus to buy more fresh spice and I always enter a level with a supply of 99 spice.
On another non related note, I really enjoyed grinding away at the redeyes during the Halloween event to the tune of 11,000+ souls per entry into 1-4 and back out again (in just 2 minutes or so). Now it is back down to 7,500 souls per run with my white world. Taking about 50% longer to level up!
Awesome game.

The kilij is my favorite sword, as well (even though I only use it in world 3 and 5). It looks great and it's actually based on a real sword (kilij means "sword" in Turkish). If you find another one, make it sharp +5 and increase your dexterity for massive bonus. My favorite world is number 1, but they're all great in their own way. 5-3 boss makes me feel bad for killing her. :.(

I haven't played much (around 5h and Lvl 23) and I haven't got any "special" weapon. I really like my starting weapon, the halberd. In Halberd/Shield configuration, it's slow but deliver a good quantity of damage. It's awsome when using it with 2 hands, it's has a good three hit combo and deliver a great amount of damage. The drawback is, when using one hand or powerfull attack, the attack fallow an arc path, so in corridor or small space, you can't do something good. That's why I also use a scimitar for fast attack and use in tight space.
But the ultimate weapon, IMO, is the Winged Spear (or any spear), good attack speed, "reach" weapon, can be use while the shield is up and most of all ... THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Level 23 after 5 hours isn't bad. I think I played for 4 hours before I even figured out where the monumental was and then how to level up. I'm now at about 160 hours in, haven't yet finished my first run through (I take my time compared to some) and have ground out a level 130+. My goal actually is to get each skill at 40 except luck, which I'll not push beyond 25. I looked at a chart and the gains beyond that on any of them are too skimpy for the work you would have to put into grinding out souls and leveling up. I'm sure I could beat the game at any time but I really enjoy the buildup and savoring the game. I may or may not do a new game+ afterwords. There are a lot of other good games coming out soon. But this one, I do love.
Heck, even if I don't start a new game right away I'm sure I will go back and play DS from time to time for short week or two stretches. It is surely in my top five or ten games (others include Fallout 3, Mass Effect, and Sacred 2 for example). I'm looking forward to starting Dragon Age and Borderlands when I tire of DS.

Actually, have you every heard of "Laconism" or "Spartan Simplicity"? Spartans (or "Λακεδαιμόνιοι" in Hellenic/Greek) practiced a very simple and austere way of life in which all kinds of ornamentation or decoration was considered slander. So the Winged Spear, with its delicate lines and over the top design would not fit in spartan society. If you want to go Leonidas on those dreglings you would be better off using a Short Spear.
Of course, all the above is simply trivia.
My most used weapon was a Quality Winged Spear + 5 paired with a Spiked Shield. Unlike what some people think, a Spear in DS is a very versatile weapon, mainly because it gives you a ton of defensive options. An extra plus is their usefulness in PvP. Under the effects of the lag we tend to experience it is very difficult to dodge a Spear-user's jabs, which makes these long armaments an ideal choice.

I like the winged spear, too: it makes PvE (at least until you get to the boss), a much more relaxed experience. I've been using the scraping spear in PvE, because of its A Dex bonus (I'm too busy IRL to farm and only now am I getting the weapon upgrade trophies.) Based on pvp youtube videos I've watched, pole weapons are even better in pvp because they give you greater range and have more damage power. With lag, I get hit by swords a mile away, so I would like a good pole weapon.

Loved the creepy atmosphere of 3-1...not entirely thrilled with 3-2 though.
Favorite weapon to mess around with at the moment are the daggers, just plain fun to cut those octopus guys down with a bunch of slashes with the dagger while they are trying to get a spell off.
Also enjoying the look of the katanas...just look cool 2-handing them. Too bad their durability sucks and its a pain to pay the repair costs.

Don't forget that it was law for those... iron-age nazi's (for lack of better term)... to have a relationship with a young boy, the eugenics practices and the extremely xenophobic cultural mind-set and you've got a perfect warrior...
Personally, I'm a huge fan of my Blind +5. It felt so good when I kicked Selen's butt after finally being able to go toe to toe. But my favorite world has to be the Tower. It's not that I enjoy it, it's just an incredibly engaging map that bothers the s**t out me every time that I play it, and I think that it's well set-up.

I should try beating them with my fists with anti-magic on. R2 is uppercut.

Actually, this is bogus. The Athenians were sometimes criticized about man to man relationships, but this was more due to the fact that Teachers and their Disciples spent most of their time together, giving ground for these rumors to come to fruition. Also bogus was the whole "drop the weak into the Kaiadas River" nonsense. Recent studies have reached results which clarify why such a practice would have left marks (human skeletons or DNA samples on the rocks and ocean bed) and the lack of such evidence proves that the whole thing was probably propaganda against the Spartans at their time (and because they had a very hostile relationship with Athens in general).
If you want any more info about the whole thing send me a pm, we are getting waaaay off-topic here.

There's an uppercut button?! Oh man, I'm gonna try that out as soon as I get home. And From Software, if you're reading this, I would pay a dollar if you created DLC that gave me the ability to kick demons in the face. I might even give you two dollars.

Your character's right hand does an uppercut if it's not holding a weapon and you press R2.

I'd say that 1-3 is my favorite level; has challenging and varied enemies, it's pretty long too. My favorite weapon so far has been the Blessed Mace +5, my character is based on Faith, so the boost in attack power is great and it has gotten me through almost every enemy I've faced. Though, when I get my Strength up high enough I am going to try out the Meat Cleaver.

I agree, the Baletarian castle is great. The only thing I'll had are the skeleton from the Shrine of Storm. They are awsome. Boletaria's Castle overtaken by the evil skeleton ... could be nice.
But I really don't like the "shielded blob" ... and what they do there

If I had to choose a favorite level, I'd have to pick either 1-3 or 1-4. 1-3 because of both its length and diversified crowd of enemies. And 1-4 simply because it ends with fighting Allant, and even though I have difficulty with him, he is pretty damn epic.
I haven't gotten everything I wanted yet, but so far I really enjoy the Demonbrandt. I also pack a Winged Spear of Moonlight +....2 or 3, I forget. My temple knight is an even balance of faith and magic and packs a hell of a punch already, but when I gave him the Winged Spear of Moonlight, it just become so much better. Plus, the range and relative speed of the winged spear make even a hippopotamus rolling monster like my temple knight seem quick

I'm loving the Large Sword of Searching which i was able to get due to a Uchigatana +7 which i recieved as a gift from a fellow board member hear for helping him trade. I also recieved a Dragon Bone Smasher which i really like but sadly, i'm not to good with it. I also love the Purple Shield.
My favorite levels are 1-3, 1-4, and 3-1
1 Question though, is it better to get Death Cloud first or Pure Blood sword first?
Here are my stats to make it easier to respond.
Vitality - 20
Intelligence - 26
Endurance - 22
Strength- 30
Dexterity 20
Majic - 25
Faith - 16
Luck - 12
I'm on NG+ Soul Level 91

I haven't even completed the game once yet so I haven't even gotten a fraction of all the weapons in the game, but I absolutely love my cool little Kris Blade for my mage. It's cool looking, helps out with my spells, and does descent damage when I need to do a bit of melee.
Edit: I'd say my favorite level thus far (haven't even gone to worlds 4 or 5) is 3-1. It's got such great atmosphere. It reminds me a lot of the King's Field games. Oh and I love the Fool's Idol theme, it's the coolest boss theme I've heard so far.

Moon... MOON!! I am in love with moon weapons. I got moon uchigatana +5 (my fav weap of the game), moon kilij +5 and moon winged spear +5 (my second fav weap of the game)
Anyways, my favorite level would probably be either 1-3 or 4-1. 1-3 has lots of enemies and when I'm bored I go rip them all up for the heck of it. 4-1 is also fun cause the skeletons are just fun to kill
