I hope they'll put dual language on the card. After all it's not PS2 anymore. I've finished P4 with japanese voices and it would be weird to switch to dub now. Don't misunderstand me though, I've got both original copy which lays never opened on the shelf and undub on PS2 HDD for usage.
When I first seen the title "Golden", this song popped up in my mind: http://youtu.be/hEhutIEUq8k
Another thing is I wonder if there will be some handy retailer selling Persona 4 Golden abroad. I'm living in europe and probably will have to buy it off from ebay if there won't be any other choice.

Never tried them before. You've got any experience with them? Are they fast? Just to compare, Amazon sends the games about a day before release, so you receive them on the release date. But probably they won't send it from States to Europe.

I use PlanetAxel or Play-Asia to import US games to the UK, myself.
Both are very reliable; PlanetAxel I generally use more, as they have slightly cheaper prices, much faster shipping (basic shipping usually only takes 4 days from dispatch), and they pay any customs charges. But Play-Asia have a much larger selection (they basically stock every game released), and have good sales on sometimes that makes those particular games cheaper.

|
Sorry, my bad on the phrasing. By default name I mean the one everyone thought it was before the anime came out. I think it was Souji Seta in the manga and perhaps other cannon sources.
|
The manga is not canon; Souji Seta was the only name available at that time. His canon name is Yu Narukami.
|
The fan nickname Banchou would work for me.

Those rumors are because they're not returning for Persona 4 Arena. ATLUS has already stated that those actor changes do not necessarily reflect changes for Golden.
|
I hope you are right.

For a while, I actually was thinking this wasn't going to be localized... but I'm glad it is! I'll probably get a Vita before the end of the summer so I can play Disgaea 3, and this serves as even more motivation.

I'm not surprised this game is getting localized. Still, the announcement was much sooner than expected and I appreciate that. This means we'll probably get it in a decent time frame instead of the few year wait that some companies (*cough*Namco*cough*) put us through.
Like many others here...it looks like it's time for me to save up and get a Vita.

I live in the UK so they do ship to the EU, I usually have to wait 2-3 weeks but I've never had a problem with them & i've used them for a few years now. Hope that helps

According to wikipedia, Yu is gonna have a default name... you know: Yu Narukami.
It said: In Persona 4 The Animation, Persona 4: The Golden and Persona 4 Arena, the protagonist is named Yu Narukami.
Maybe it's a mistake, but who knows. Even if I like that the protagonists have names (like Yu Narukami, Minato Arisato, Naoki Kashima, etc.) I kinda don't like that this time he's gonna get a default name. I didn't have a problem with Tatsuya actually, but Yu is a different matter.

Wikipedia is all user-edited. P4: Golden is the same thing as P4, with added content; there's no reason for them to put a default name in the name entry screen.

I know, that's what I said. So it is a mistake anyway.

aside from dropping the word "The" in "The Golden", ATLUS USA also seem to have dropped the "Shin Megami Tensei" title they added in every US release of megaten game since Nocturne as well

Maybe they are following the JP model? Remember, the Persona series is a spin-off of the main Shin Megami Tensei series and thus is marketed without that label in Japan.
But I don't recall any NA official box art being released, so who knows if it will be added later on...

Yeah it feels like they are trying to disassociate the series from the overall franchise, doesn't make much sense to me.

Exactly. I know that it's just ''Persona'' in Japan, but it just feels weird that the upcoming Persona games (and probably other spin-offs like Digital Devil Saga and Devil Summoner) will be released without the ''Shin Megami Tensei'' title above it in the US. I also know that Atlus USA started with Persona without the ''Shin Megami Tensei'' title, but with ''Revelations'' on the first one and just ''Persona 2: Eternal Punishment'' on the second. I played all spin-offs and Persona games with the ''Shin Megami Tensei'' title... like I said... it just bothers me... a lot now... I wonder if the current titles of P4U and P4G are just placeholders....... probably not.

I think they're doing the right thing...it is a spinoff as an above poster said. I feel like they shouldn't have been associated in the first place. Would be interested to know if it even affects sales.
But honestly, it's not a huge deal. When they start changing box art is where I start to get bothered.

Just a personal preference, it's not like I'm gonna call Atlus employees and yell "Blasphemy!!" at them, I simply think that Persona 4 is still very much a Shin Megami Tensei game, with all the signature creatures, the mature and yet crazy storyline/plot, same spells, etc. Plus, is not like the Shin Megami Tensei brand is frowned upon by gamers or something like that, every new game that has come out within the franchise like the Devil Survivor games or Strange Journey gets praise more often than not.

Keep in mind they're not actually under the SMT label in Japan; it was pretty much done for marketing reasons in the West.

Persona 4 is a Shin Megami Tensei game, yes. A spin-off one, at any rate. But that doesn't mean it needs to have the Shin Megami Tensei label on the front.
I really can't see it making any difference, anyway. Fans of the series will know that it's a Shin Megami Tensei game, and newcomers just won't care (if anything, it may attract a few more new players. I would imagine that a title like 'Shin Megami Tensei' is likely to put off more than a few potential impulse purchases).

I don't really care. Persona is a popular subseries, and Persona 4 is a popular sub-subseries that can hold its own.

Yeah, plus Persona has very much become its own series, to the point it overshadows SMT and people automatically assume SMT is Persona. The link between the two was threadbare to begin with.
SMT games are about summoning demons with computers in an apocalyptic setting with very dark themes. Persona is fairly mature, but it doesn't really do those things. P4 is also the furthest think from dark. It's too happy to dwell on things for long.
Nocturne didn't summon demons with computers, but that was because you were a demon that buddied up with other demons and used a network to get around. Nocturne just turned the idea over.
