Talking Jessicat's SMT Merch & Discussion Thread!

...Because I honestly have no idea what else to call this thread, didn't want to clog the "upcoming merch" thread, and I've had a few requests from others about my random SMT stuff and wanting to see/know more about them, so I'll do my best to not be lazy too often and share some pics of my collection :3 [I really wish there was an active SMT fan forum though...GameFAQs doesnt count...The image limit is kinda brutal for this sort of thing, had to go as far as disabling the smilies for this XD]

And before anyone asks:
Yes I'm that one who uploaded the "Nocturne Making of" Documentary DVD clips on veoh/viddler, then my accounts asploded or something ^^; My comp is mostly busted right now so don't ask for that, I'll post them later if/when I can XD

For today I have a bunch of pics from one of my Comic Anthology books featuring Devil Summoner Raidou. For those that don't know, these are basically manga-sized books with small stories/chapters and/or 4-koma [4 panel/one-liner comic strips] each illustrated by a different artist. More cost effective and compact than buying doujinshi :p Here they are:

Front Cover:

The first few pages of the book have full colour illustrations like these:

These two pages show the chaos that can happen summoning all your demons at once XD

Predictable reactions are predictable [poor Gouto]:

This chapter featured Jack Frost going on his own adventures:

I like the epic build up in these pages...

Then suddenly booze ftw XD

Not sure what's going on here, but Gouto sure is pissed [I like Cerberus' expressions, too cute~]

Back Cover:

And that's about it for now~ Not sure what kind of interest there would be for other series/stuff? Just know that I barely have any Persona merch and probably have more Devil Children cards than I know what to do with heh ^^; I have an old post here on livejournal that shows most of the stuff I have, though I've gotten a few more things recently too]. But anyways, enjoy! :3 [And I hope this is in the right subforum ;>>]

Default So funny >.<

Now that was funny!
Even though i don't understand what is being said i still got a few laughs out of that!XD
I'd have to say Raidou and his demon having a pervert nosebleed was the funniest for me.
If only cerberus was that cute in game! ^_^

Cool thread I've been looking for the SMT Kahn Manga volumes, which were translated and the Japanese novel adaptations(I think?) of Digital Devil Saga, also have the Drama CD for Strange Journey, I think P3 and P4 have the most Drama CDs of the whole franchise.

Edit: Ah!, and I also been looking for the original trilogy of novels that spawned the whole MegaTen series. The original printings are pretty rare, though I prefer the updated covers of the newer print run. The manga based on the first persona also looks cool, I have a couple volumes of the P3 and P4 mangas and they don't dissapoint.

XD I know, some of the art is pretty amusing on it's own. I can only read kana so I don't get too much comprehension out of these unless they're really simple ^^;

I only have the first translated volume of Khan [and wasn't impressed :/], I think Tokyopop only got up to volume 3 or 4 before they stopped; I think the whole series was translated in France or something, and of course you can find them in Japanese too
I don't entirely know what the Digital Devil Saga novels were about, but they were released pretty recently so it makes me wonder if there will be anything in the works for it o.O I hope we're talking about the same DDS? ^^;
Devil Summoner Raidou, P3 and P4 have a few drama CDs. Apparently Gouto has quite the voice [I dunno I always kind of imagined him sounding like Salem |D]
I only have one comic anthology from P3, I never really go into collecting those... Might be a good thing, my shelves are getting full ^^;

Speaking of Devil Summoner, I think I might share a few pics from the compendium books next:

Anyone looking for a particular demon? There's a bunch of neat ones that I don't recall seeing anywhere else before, and old styles of existing demons too~

That's a shame, I still would like those Khan Mangas, for collecting purposes if nothing else.

Yeah the PS2 games(not the Famicom titles or original late 80s novels). I think they are a retelling of DDS1 and 2, but I could very well be mistaken.

I wasn't aware Raidou Kuzunoha had more than 2 drama CDs, I knew both P3 and P4 have like 6-8 each or something among those lines.

That must be the P3 Dengeki Comic Anthology, both P3 and P4 still have ongoing manga series on the Dengeki Persona Magazine(the 1st issue of this magazine is so freaking expensive and rare nowadays).

I've been looking for those compendium books, but haven't found them for a reasonable price, at least not in decent shape.

Some of the books I have recently bought(as in the last months), I have a couple more volumes of both mangas, but those are the first tankoubon:

I think the Udon publisher is translating the artbooks for P3 and P4 like they did with Shigenori Soejima Artworks 2004-2010.

Can you please post some pics of Lucifer?, in whichever form you can find him, human, angel or demon.

Ah, at a convention a couple weeks ago I saw the first 2 volumes of Khan; thought of you, but couldn't bring myself to buy them [sorry XD] I think Tokyopop went out of business so they might start getting tough to find. Fun fact: the mangas are shrink-wrapped so you can't accidentally read them XD

Oh, I have that Digital Devil Apocalypse book too, it's nice.

Someone made a Lucifer appreciation thread here in the fourm, I posted a few more pics/scans there XD but here's the [only] one that's shown in the Compendium books, his Persona form:

His least awesome one imo :/
I heard about the P3 & P4 books getting a translation, but the release date keeps getting pushed back. I was considering grabbing them but I don't even know when they'll be released ;>>

Also I wonder if anyone knows the difference between these two books:

They're near identical inside, but I'm guessing one is a later release. Help? [and yes, it seems I clearly fail in reading book titles else this wouldn't have happened, lol ^^;]

And since I'm here posting, here's a couple of things I haven't shown yet/gotten recently:

Demikids full anime series [Red & Black season]:

The CuChulainn game case and a[nother] Nocturne comic anthology :3

Here's the inside of the case:

And a small preview from the comic anthology [I'll show more later!]

Yep, same book, different cover.

Like the first one much more.

Digital Devil Apocalypse is a GREAT book.

Also, the things I would do for that Chulainn case.
(Shame it's not an Alice one...)

Also also, I picked up the Kaneko Works 1 book and one of those Pandemonium books by accident.

Kaneko Works 1 is gorgeous.

The SMT game cases seem to sell in yahoo auctions for a crazy amount; I saw the Alice one selling for an unfathomably large amount of money XD The CuChulainn one, while not as expensive, wasn't cheap either x.x The weird thing is, when you have a PSP inside it [I figure that's what they were meant for] it will still bounce around inside the case...maybe I need a case on my PSP before I put it in that one [case within a case...okay I won't go there XD]

The Kaneko books are getting rare now too, they do look really awesome. Did your book come with a little poster/pencil board thing? I've seen some that have it and some that don't o.O
Speaking of Atlus-themed artbooks, there was this one I didn't manage to nab that I've never seen before, hope I can find it somewhere again:

I've got this one though:

It's small but thick, and has a profile page for every demon in Nocturne, as well as a big list of demon sprites from former games compared together:

And random chart stuff like this [if you ever needed to know the breakdown of the country-of-origin of demons? XD]:

And I won an auction with these recently too:

Promo stuff from some kind of SMT event back in '03/'04. Totally excited for them to get here in the mail XD These are the pics from the auction.

Those Nocturne/Digital Devil Saga Keyrings are freaking awesome.

I bought some more books these past weeks, mostly Persona stuff; including the first printing of the Persona Tsumi to Batsu mangas(they bridge Persona and Persona 2: Innocent Sin, still looking for volume 3).

The Naoto novel featuring the titular character in a detective role and some Androids(from the same production line as Labrys, Aegis, Metis, etc I think. Kijiro Group TM) and the first Blu-ray of the P4 anime.

The English(translated by Udon Entertainment) Shigenori Soejima Art Works 2004-2010 which contains a pretty lengthy interview, Persona 4 art-works, the SMT: Nocturne OST and the 7th issue of Persona Magazine which has some kick-ass fanart.

Edit: I must have that Akira Kaneda Digital Devil book, was it a promotional thing or something like that?

Ah, so you got these. I had them up on watchlist, I would have gone for it if I hadn't blew my funds for this month

With fees and whatnot they would've come a bit too expensive given my currency exchange rate.

Anyway, enjoy them mate!

And since I'm posting, might as well post the DDS promos I received last week, got them a while ago but only had them shipped recently

I also have received the 7th Limited Edition BD for the P4 Anime, but the pic I took with all 7 BD's released so far are on the pc at home, so I will post sometime later.

Oh yeah, nearly forgot, I also managed to grab a sealed copy of the Devil Summoner port for the PSP and it also had a "Devil Summoner 10th Ann. wristband" which is pretty cool. I think it was given as a pre-order bonus, but no sure. I do have pics of this one, so here you go

I've been meaning to get the books you guys have shown in the thread, but I figure I might as well pick them up whenever I manage to travel to Japan, that way I'll save a lot on fees/shipping.

Whenever I get more stuff, I'll report back

Don't feel too bad, I have a job and don't have the time to play all the games I can now spend money on XD ebay is really terrible for price gouging on stuff like artbooks x.x sometimes its cheaper to buy from japan even after hefty shipping and/or fees :\
There's still the summer job thing to look forward to...? XD

Oooh, one of those artbooks is already out? I'm slow, gotta grab that one XD where do you pick up the Persona Magazine? Online? Maybe I'm not looking hard enough but I don't recall seeing it around. I need to conserve shelf space anyways XD and nice stuff! I think I'll try waiting it out for a blu-ray collection for p4, which reminds me, I haven't gotten around to watching it ^^; is it worth a watch?
The Digital Devil artbook I found on yahoo jp auctions by searching "digital devil" in kana ^^; I don't recall the listing saying it was a promo or anything special, still wish a put a bid on it, I kinda for got about it and it got bought by someone else x.x

Ooh, awesome stuff!
I missed out on something else I was interested in so it's all good XD I think I'm tempted to keep the Nocturne keychain with my keys instead of hoarding it at home XD
Do you know what's on those DDS discs? Or is that something you still need to find out? I can only read the kana ^^; I'm kind of glad I don't really follow p4, there's way too much merch out there now, I'd be broke, lol.

Thanks for sharing pics everyone :3

Well, my Japanese is not that great (yet), but from what I could make out, they're just promotional videos for exhibition in stores. I was tempted to open them up and check them out, but I'd rather keep them sealed, hehe.

Yup, absurd amount of swagger being released for P4, I'm going nuts. In fact, I only started getting these as I ended up buying the first one thinking it would contain all the episodes, silly me.

After I figured out they would be released in parts, I figured, what the hell, why not? Since they're released in monthly basis, my wallet has managed to survive so far

But I'll probably go broke thanks to the amount of figures being released, haha. I lost count of how many I ordered and pre-ordered already. Good thing they're released in different months, phew.

Nope, no pencil board here.

That demon bible looks amazing. It's not a Kaneko Works, it's something else? Interesting. Looks like a keeper. Love that it has traditional art, too.

Only the Shigenori Soejima Art Works 2004-2010 has been Translated by Udon, the P3 and P4 artbooks are still in the process I think, the ones I show there are the Japanese ones.
I got that issue of the Persona Magazine at book store in Akihabara last week, issues 1-5 are somewhat hard to find, 6-8 are still available in bookstores and Amazon JP.
Will have to look for that book in Yahoo Auc then, thanks for the tip.
I ordered some other stuff I found cheap, will post some pics when it arrives.

Persona 3 artbook was released today to comic book stores.

If you're planning to buy from book stores or Amazon, it's not coming out till next week on the 26th.

The Persona 4 artbook is coming out in July.

If it makes you feel better, I have two tiny shelves/desks in my tiny room in my tiny Japanese apartment, so when I buy something I have to sacrifice space that something else was taking, I sleep in a futon because an actual bed can't be folded to give more space , does wonders for your back though.

Anyway my order finally arrived; it was the Special SMT: Nocturne DVD that shows some sort of retrospective of the franchise with interviews from Kaneko and other developers/PR people from Atlus(that were involved in the development of Nocturne) and the Deluxe Pack of Shin Megami Tensei NINE, which was surprisingly cheaper than the DVD, like 15$ or less and in great condition.

Watching the retrospective(I think all the footage is available on Youtube btw, no subs tho), I noticed something behind Kaneko that I'm pretty sure is a life-size statue of the original Persona for the MC of the first Persona game.

(this dude)

The stuff that came inside the SMT NINE Deluxe Pack(btw I heard this game was supposed to be a console MMO or something among those lines?):

I almost feel compelled to track a Japanese original XBOX to play it, almost.

Oh, maybe it was a limited thing/pre-order bonus/shop incentive o.O

Nope, it's about the size of a manga, but much thicker. It's a great resource, even if I cant read Japanese, I like the art :3

Dood, I can't handle not checking things out when I buy them XD Maybe I'm just not hardcore enough of a collector
At least the P4 releases are in manageable monthly instalments? lol

Yahoo Auctions, gotta pry myself off that place, I found a new proxy/middleman service so of course I had to test them out XD Also nabbed a complete deluxe edition of Nocturne, so I'm excited for that~
And yea, thanks, I figured that part out after I dashed over to Amazon, lol, though does anyone know of other places that sell these books for about the same price? I've usually not too impressed with Amazon's shipping skills :/

If you're planning to buy from book stores or Amazon, it's not coming out till next week on the 26th.

The Persona 4 artbook is coming out in July.
Thanks for the tip! :3

But, but, sharing is caring! D: There's the other thread with upcoming merch too, and not everything is crazy rare and expensive either [though a lot of it is]

You didn't watch far enough into that DVD if you haven't seen Nocturne running on NINEs engine; dear gods its ugly. I don't think you're missing out on much, possibly think of it as the alpha version of SMT Imagine? XD
I never noticed that statue in the background o.O Wow, having that in a room staring at you would be kinda scary D:
And yea, although my other video-sharing accounts exploded, someone managed to reupload most of the viewable content onto youtube.

Maybe Rakuten Global? I know most sellers have international shipping and unlike Yahoo Auc, the global page can be set to English, though the auctions from Rakuten sellers can only be found in the original Japanese website. Kudos on the Nocturne DX, that's the one with the mini metal replica of the teleport/save terminal and different colored incense right?, I've been looking for it for a reasonable price.

Didn't get that far into the DVD, decided to leave it for the weekend and play some Persona3:FES, I did got confirmation than the game was meant to be a gateway title to an XBOX-exclusive SMT MMO, though not quite like Imagine, which I think was outsourced to some other developers.

I don't know about scared, Kaneko and the veterans from Atlus have spent decades developing games about making pacts with demons and defying God, the Devil and everything in between, aside from poor sales, what could they possibly be afraid of.

Now to track all the Nocturne merch I can get my hands on , that game is the best RPG I have ever played, no doubt about it.

Edit: BTW I'm also hella curious about what those DDS DVDs are about, I didn't even know they existed.

Congrats on that DVD mate, I've been meaning to get one as well.

Would you know if this one has the same contents or it's a different one?

Taking from auctions' descriptions, they seem to contain the same stuff, just in different packaging. Perhaps someone else would know.

Sometimes I do feel very curious, yes, but it's not much about being hardcore or anything, it's just that I find it so pleasing to see them untouched, just the way they originally came, intact, hehe. It's just my personal (crazy) preference/satisfaction.

By the way, I managed to take a pic of the Limited Edition BD's, only 3 left to go

These actually come in a resealable bag, I could check them out, but there's no need to do so right now, hehe.

Gonna look gorgeus when all ten are released

I have another pretty cool item coming up soon, I will bring it here

I reckon they are the same, they even have the same name plus I only know of one Nocturne DVD, then again I hadn't heard of the DDS DVDs, so I might have no clue what I'm talking about .

Rakuten is pretty nice, I've used them for buying Digimon stuff Though I've noticed the search works differently now, if I want to buy an item that's to be forwarded to a bypass service because they won't ship directly to Canada (like tenso.com) I need to search on the Japanese side ._.;
However I was implying amazon.ca, to pick up the English versions of those artbooks ^^; I need to invest in another shelf soon though XD
Yup, the Deluxe version of Nocturne comes with the game (non-Maniacs, been wanting to get this to try out too XD), a little save terminal (I think this is used with the incense?), incense (these are based on the in-game ones, wonder what they smell like o.O), a music CD (not sure if OST or not), and the box the terminal is in is patterned like the wall blocks in the Tower of Kagutsuchi XD I'll take pics and such when it gets here (waiting for it to arrive at the proxy place first ._.)
And lol, I'll admit I'm not a fan of the early Persona designs at all ^^; I was pretty horrible at those games too, never got far in them.

In this case, my curiosity overrides my OCD. In most every other case though, my OCD is complimented with laziness (I have a game and movie backlog, I have a bunch of things still sealed XD)
I'm gonna say no, those 2 DVDs do not have the same content; that one there was likely a pre-order bonus or some kind of promo, it has an interview about Nocturne that is different from the ones in the making of DVD. So yes, get both (I have 'em both~ didn't get a chance to rip that disc though).
I think the one Nocturne-related item I'm still striving to get is the pachislot machine. I will find a way to get one, somehow!

Hmm, I was probably gonna end up buying both, so guess now I have more motivation to do so, haha.

Didn't know about the pachi slot machine, that's wicked! Gonna be a tough one though, the machine looks heavy.

I found some pics of the launch event of this machine on dangeki's website

http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000...74796/img.html

I wanted those posters shown in the first pics

Maniacs is so expensive here, not hard to find mind you, but I never see it bellow the rough equivalent of 100$ or more.

I wish I hadn't seen that DVD, now I want to track it down too, even though it's more than likely the very same thing I just bought, this OCD is killing my wallet.

Also I think this item is supposed to be a box for the anime BDs, are you getting it?

On the subject of sealed items I will admit to leave some stuff sealed, like Soundtrack CDs, in which case I just download them after buying the retail product. Also I have kept my copy of Persona 4 sealed since I know I will just play the PSVita version eventually.

Indeed, I've noticed that, for some reason the game is fairly expensive, despite being easily found.

I know how it is, you see it and you wanna have it, unless it's the same thing you just can't give up on it, haha.

Thanks for the link mate, didn't know about it. I will have to dig up a bit more for info, maybe try to find some pics and see if it's worth the price tag. After all, the boxes are pretty neat already, having them displayed on shelf should be cool nonetheless.
Sure, it would be nice to have an official box to house the set, but I'm running out of money, they gotta stop releasing stuff

Soundtracks are awesome, I wish I had bought them already, but with all the releases coming up (P4G, P4A, Soul Hackers) and loads of figures I've got on pre-order, I must take it easy and manage better my expenses

Ah yes, speaking of soundtracks, I believe I got an album last year, a compilation of arranges from different groups, it's stored somewhere at home, I gotta check it out and bring a pic for you guys. If I remember correctly I bought the album because I couldn't find it to download on the interwebs, then I managed to find one in YJ auctions. After I got it, someone uploaded it on the final fantasy shrine forums I'll provide more info later
