I would be ok with a demon in the party. I don't know how that would work with the current motif for Persona and the fact you fight 'shadows' rather than demons in the games. If it went a bit old school and shifted to fighting stuff from the demon realm it would be possible, and in a way kind of refreshing(unless they add a lot more to the shadow roster, i think fighting those guys has gotten pretty stale) . Add to that a "lite" version of the negotiation system so that you could recruit the demon of your choosing into your ranks and it would hide out at the "landing pad" location where your group enters the dungeon world and I'd be plenty happy. Heck then you could have it as a rare s.link in NG+ if you maxed the demon's lvl in first playthrough! Just have the demon explain they are taking on the form of a normal human to learn more about our world and explore it, have the npc they inhabit be random (so you have to initially "find" them in NG+) and BOOM, I'd be all over a second playthrough in a heartbeat! especially if the s.link unlocked the highest tier persona's or some other ability in fusion you normally didn't get (like alternate 12 way fusions).

It was in Devil Survivor - you had to talk to Midori a lot to get him. Won't say more than that.


I love demons as equal party members - count me in.

Seriously, I really liked the Evokers. They fitted the dark tone and mood of the game.
A side note, I also hope they include the Japanese voices as an option at least. I hate dubbed games.

Apple is not going to be happy. lol. I actually didn't mind the English voice acting in P3 and P4. Well maybe because I played that in English before playing the undub versions.

Hey why didn't anyone discuss my previous post about personalizing your own main character? I really thought it was a good idea but you all discussed about having a demon party member instead.

Sorry didnt see that post, i agree completely with that, i dont want that the next MC have to be an emo like some previous interview with the game director that he says the next MC will resemble Minato.

With the PS3 capabilities this should be no problem and of course a gender option.

I'd say it is because that idea is one that has been discussed, proposed, and brought up so many times before it is a rather complacent topic. Hell, when I first joined a few years ago I proposed it and in reading previous threads I realized at that point it had already been proposed, discussed and overplayed back then.

A lot of people would LOVE that as a feature. Nuff said. lol

Er, I don't really like this idea of being able to COMPLETELY customize the MC like in some sort of MMORG. I always saw the MCs of all the persona games as their own character, but leaving the player to choose how they should express themselves and what choices they should make in the game. Kinda like a puppet. This is how I treat most silent protagonists. I don't see them as player avatars(again, think MMORPGs like WOW).

If I can just change their clothes(ala the armor) of the MC, I'll be fine with that. Plus, you have to remember the general appearance of the MC has to be recognizable for marketing the game.

The only thing I would like different is a female MC. It's seems like a pattern already in the Persona series anyway to go back and forth male and female MCs since P2(Tatsuya->Maya->Minato->Aigis/Femshe->Yu/Souji->Futrue female MC?).

Also, loving the possibility of a demon recruitable character. Yes please.

I don't know if you read my post properly but I also suggested that they will be canon appearances of the main characters. When I say customization of characters, I don't think MMORPGs. I think of normal RPGs with customizable main characters like Bioware's Dragon Age and the ever popular Mass Effect. DA2 and ME has canon appearances of the main characters and it was shown at every marketing event of the game so there won't be a problem.

Its just an option for someone to create their own character look while playing the game but they are fully aware of the canon appearance. If you played Mass Effect you will know what I mean. You get to affect the story with the character you created based on the decisions you make. But I guess this idea won't make it feel like a JRPG and more like a western one. The most that I would want is the ability to choose the character's style of clothes and accessories.

Ah, sorry, I miss read you wrong, than. When I think customization, my mind goes straight to those kinda of rpgs. Not the ones you mentioned, which I've never played.

I second being able to customize my character's clothes. I know there are a few limited option, but I'd really like a default option with some more as well.

The option of character outfit customization is sweet especially if there is a gender option to go with it. Having a cameo character (Persona, P2, P3P, P4, megaten) in the party is even better than a demon like Black Frost!

I would prefer demon enemies rather than the generic shadows. Maybe a combination of both would be good.

Well lets see, P1 and P2's gameplay are the same with having demon enemies and negotiation. And also all the main characters are wild cards.

P3 and P4 broke away from the Megaten pattern of demon negotiation. They are similar with their social links/dating sim, forced persona summoning methods and having only the main character being the wild card.

P5 is going to be a totally different one so there's going to be completely new game mechanics. Of course some of the old ones will be incorporated. I just hope that I'll like it but I trust Atlus won't disappoint.

i dont mind how much they change as long as i can chosse the gender of the chara ^^

yeah, i like the idea of being able to customize the main character (i mean, why not? the dude/chick is already a blank slate.)

and yes, Shepard has a default appearance (both male and female) so they could do the same with this character.

and back when i said demon, i meant a Persona using Demon, not just a random demon.

But demons are used as Personas in the series compared to other SMT titles. So not sure about a persona summoning a persona. Its unlikely to happen.

Wait.. the larger pic looks like snow with Yosuke in it .. and i think it's him from the anime. So then wouldn't they just be hinting at the dvd/Bluray release of P4 the Anime? or.. am I looking in the wrong spot?

No - think thy just have Yosuke in there so it fits with all the other pictures/banners that have characters in them. Notice that all of the other banners in that section are only for the Games? No P3 Trinity Soul or anything, just the main games.

I have a good feeling about both E3 and TGS this year. E3 for the localizations of The Golden and P4 Arena, and TGS for our first showing of P5.

A shadow is not a persona. All I'm saying is that the demons in the SMT series are being used as personas. So I really doubt they'll use a demon that's already in the SMT list as a main character that summons another persona(another demon). If its gonna be a demon, it won't be one that we're familiar with which means it will be a newly created design.

I think it was established that a shadow is a persona.

A persona controlled by a persona would make no sense because a "persona is a shadow controlled by the ego".

A persona would not be able to develop an ego, as long as it is controlled by one.
I reckon that once a persona loses the ego that "controls" it, it ceases to be a persona and likely reverts to a shadow or simply disappears from existence.

And considering a lot of demons are psychologically very similar to humans, I see no reason why a demon couldn't have a persona. Unless there is some supernatural reason that prevents them from having one.

Notice that it has Minako and Yosuke in it, so it might not even be for the DVD/Blu-ray of P4.

Another thing, why is it colored gray? Sort of reminds me of the whole gray/black/white color theme going on from that youtube fan project of Persona 5

Teddie from P4 is a shadow himself, and also developed his own summoned Persona. However, I never even heard of somebody's Persona rebelling against their own master/summoner before...

That might make for an interesting concept down the line, don't you think?
