Got my copy and it's fantastic
Thanks to Atlus for publishing this. It's such a nice collection with the art book and OST.
The game itself is excellent. The framerate is vastly improved over Ego Draconis vanilla.
This'll be in my disc drive for a very long time.
Can't recommend The Dragon Knight Saga enough to people that are on the fence.

Okay I just got home with my copy but I have a major issue here, that is right a MAJOR ISSUE.
After Mr. Jabbari himself made it clear in his own comments during the Ustream shows, and actual footage to boot, that our main villain was a hated bald man named Damian (all bald men are bad guys except for Jean Luc Picard he says!) I find no bald pictures of Damian in the art book. This is unacceptable as he just doesn't look evil enough with hair.
In other news the sound track is excellent and I am already greatly looking forward to the game itself. I also love the manual, dual language, full color, thick, even has a story section. Why did people other than Atlus stop making manuals right? I also really liked the intro by Larian, it shows how seriously they take this release and how much they care about the game.

That is blatant stereotyping. For shame, Mr. Jabari. For shame. I will no longer support you or your anti-bald company. Good day, sir.

Not to mention that both Telly Savalas and Kojak were bald, good guys, and AWESOME.

I enjoyed the intro as well. Swen also wrote a different intro for Ego Draconis vanilla.

Stop trying to dissuade us from the obvious with your bald person propaganda!!! For every Kojak there is a dozen Lex Luthor's to stand as testament.
That said about 10 hours into the game and really digging it!

There should be more activity in this thread!
The game is quite good and you're practically stealing from Atlex/Indlus at that price! Come on people, show some more love here!

Well since you asked Atlus has also started posting links to the Ustream shows they did on youtube. Why they aren't advertising this on this site is sort of weird but hey whatever....
here is a link to the first one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRmVH...&feature=feedu
I missed this show but some of my questions/comments actually got fielded by Aram in the next two parts.

Thanks for doing the work for us, Kark!
But uh, really, I've been reading this forum for quite some time now, and I've discovered some evidence that may shock you... Our forum audience kinda turns its collective nose at anything that doesn't come from Japan! As a general observation, of course. Not saying you all do by any stretch of the imagination, nor that just because they don't like THIS game that we can't find something they would like that isn't from the east.

Yeah I concur with what you are saying, you are obviously right. But at the same time you gotta push for some change!!! This game for example is actually sorta similar to alot of games that have come from Japan, like Demon's Souls, and to a much lesser extent even Monster Hunter. Heck this game even makes fun of the Power Rangers at one point ;p.
I just feel like there is plenty in this game a typical Atlus fan might enjoy. They just have to be convinced to broaden their horizons a bit. That doesn't just go for Atlus fans either but gamers in general. Anyone who has ever enjoyed a action/rpg (even a diablo or fable) will find something to like in this game. In my opinion anyway.
EDIT: You also need to cater to your fanboi a little Red. Fanboi love to watch video's of the object of their fanboism doing things like talking, dancing around, acting stupid, and or playing video games. Sites like Giant Bomb prove that ;p. I mean really you should check some comments you see on other forums about Aram's unboxing vids. There are people who (to hear them tell it) only watch to see him sniff the manual.

Yeah, I've noticed the lack of interest in anything non-Japanese as well and, as Kark says, it's quite a shame. The console offerings from Japan have been, in my opinion, lackluster lately and I'm thrilled that Atlex/Indlus is willing to look outside that area to keep us stocked with quality games.
I've also seen a decided bias towards the PS3 which may be part of what's at play here. I'm not trying to start any console issues, it's just something I've noticed.
Anyway, I really hope this does well enough to keep the eyes of localizers looking world wide instead of only focusing on a tiny little island that is rapidly losing market share by the day.

To some degree, I have been guilty of this in the past. I have tried to rectify this over the past couple of years. My main gripe is the fixation with choosing medieval fantasy titles. I know I am totally in the minority on this, so really it is mainly a problem with me, but I am just burnt out of this theme for rpgs or rpg-like games regardless of if they are Japanese or Western in origin.
I also kind of agree with you O about the quality of some recent Japanese titles. Unfortunately I do see the occasional Japanese title I really, really want, but no one is wanting to pick up these titles anymore (Metal Max 3).
edit - Sorry this was so off topic guys. :/

There are definitely great titles still coming out of Japan, no doubt about it. Their dominance is definitely diminishing, however. There was a time when everything I wanted seemed to come from Japan. Now I doubt it's even 50%. Maybe that's just my taste in things but I can't imagine I'm alone. Also, they seem to develop more titles I would want on portables (like Metal Max 3) rather than on consoles and I just don't have the lifestyle to support extensive portable gaming.

Exactly. I spend too much time staring in a microscope to then squint at a tiny screen while at home.

Actually now that you mention it and I think about it.... I have only bought one or two games developed in Japan in 2010 that weren't handheld myself... I guess they really are moving more to that market what with the dominance of mobile gaming in Asia.
But that is all malarkey because it is off topic. You should try this game out instead Kakizaki you might be surprised. It really is a fun game with lots of content. It also has a fairly similar humor to alot of Japanese games, lots of "wordplay" jokes and bad puns.

I've lost a lot of interest in Japanese games over the last 5 or so years. I just find that the storylines are stereotypical anime stuff, the voice acting is generally offensive, the gameplay mechanics somewhat stale, and I could go on and on. Of course, though, there are some I still enjoy. I found Demon's Souls to be excellent due to its more western aesthetic. I found Lost Odyssey to be excellent due to its superb storytelling and characters. I found Vanquish and Bayonetta to be excellent because they're just totally out there and awesome. Deadly Premonition for its absurdity. And there are more than that. I guess my biggest beef would be with Japanese role-playing games, for the most part. They feel stale, cliche, and often insulting to me. Two of the worst offenders off the top of my head would be White Knight Chronicles and Star Ocean 4.

The cause could also be that this game is old, coming from europe so was in english from the start, did never get any good reviews and is a very generic hack'n'slay RPG without story.
But oh well, I just say you are right, a lot of the people here probably like eastern games more, how else would they know a niche eastern game company like ATLUS.

Yeah, I'm having a major issue too - wish it wasn't as annoying though. Anyone else having trouble with the game freezing periodically? It happens to me usually when I save - totally craps out. I've been a subscriber to the "save often" school of thought for as long as I can remember, but I cringe every time I go to save :^\

I had a problem that happened 2 maybe 3 times where I got a game freeze/crash but it only happened in Broken Valley. It happened when I exited the black boar tavern mostly.

This is definitely true for me, the reason I wasn't interested in div. 2 isn't because I dislike western games, on the contrary, japanese devs have almost collectively moved to portables and if I didn't like me some western games, I wouldn't even own consoles.
.....I just felt the game was a little poor from what I've played. it also just looks bad, and has a very unappealing art style(every character/armor in the game looks SUPER exaggerated ).

That's jusst a question
Divinity II : The Dragon Knight Saga is a fantastic lovely addictive game !
And I can go on and on ... really give this game all my words of glory !
This Game is a Gem, a Masterpiece !
O, and how is the combat ?
Fast combat I must admid. I'm a slow player, so I search for a build that suits me best and I found a really very awesome and big fun to play build:
a Priest, a ranger Priest who used a bow to fire a stunning arrow or help his allies a bit ... because a Priest has so funny skills :
Summon Ghost, Undead or Demon .. Hide in Shadows ... but on top of all : Blind & Charm !
With all this skills, and more, you can slow down the battles & you can change a losing battle in a winning one just via Charming some enemy(ies) ! Fantastic !
Thanks to the open skill tree you can play so many combat styles (if you wish) and even change it via finding yewellery and other equipment with a skill-boost on them or repect all your skill at your Battle Tower !
