Axis Mundi
Anyone here attempted it on 360 yet? I have. Something like 200 times. Probably less; who's counting? My best is 47 steps in 4 minutes before the stage falls out from under me. The guy at the top of the leaderboard only got to 48 steps and he took a whole extra minute! what's up with that...?
Surely someone in xbox live can get higher than 50 steps... More importantly, if I cleared the Obelisk, why can't I? This is... humbling.

Some guy made it to 52. I'm guessing the map fell out from under his feet too.

I started replaying the level again and noticed that the blocks fall at random times instead of a specific one. If the blocks didn't fall so fast, it'd be much easier to actually get past fifty steps.

The stage starts rapid-fall at 28-30 steps. After that, If you can't climb a few steps per second, you'll fall within the next minute or so, depending on how quickly you were climbing before that (i.e. how much fodder you gave the stage to drop before it gets to you).
Edit: Have you seen the clear videos on Youtube? Block order is apparently reversed on the PS3 version.

So I caved and ended up finishing Axis on pair mode by myself with 2 controllers. I don't have the skill to go it alone. Frankly, with those blocks, I don't see how it's possible.

I hope the stage gets patched or something. I really want to beat it on single player and get that nice winning feeling or at least get past 100 steps, but I have a feeling they won't fix it. I'm wondering why it looks near impossible for US american version but actually passable in other versions.

From what I've come to understand...
If you beat the game on normal to unlock babel it is easier (or so one person with the ps3 version claims.) and the Japanese trophy wiki says theres an easy build out there. All of the youtube videos show you the "easy" build... now I played for hours on my ps3 version averaging 40 steps. In all that time I never once saw another build.
Most likely it is similar to the pure bladestone (Demon Souls) which had a rate of something like 0.03.

If that's the case, I give up.
According to Raptr, I've sunk more than 24 hours of playtime into just attempting this stage. That puts me somewhere in the neighborhood of 280+ attempts, averaging 5 minutes per attempt. I have never seen this "easy build." Nor have I seen any variation of it. So if rarity is an issue, it would seem that its rate of occurrence is less than 1%. If its rate of occurrence is 0.03% I could try this 3000 more times without seeing it once and that would take something like ten actual days of playtime if I'm actually running the attempts and not just selecting retry until I see something I don't recognize.
I could theoretically clear the game on Normal and gold-prize everything on a different profile in a matter of hours to test this hypothesis, but having different versions of a stage that does not have a scale-able difficulty makes no sense to me and I can't justify the time expense to investigate it.
TL;DR
Basically, I'm just not gonna do it, man =/

I unlocked Axis Mundi by getting all gold on normal. It's not any easier.

On a side note, I don't know how you did that Altar climb in just over 5 minutes but good work. Wish I could have seen that.

My best Altar climb comes in at just under 8 minutes so there I things I could do better for sure. Technically speaking, Altar is a pretty simple climb. The challenge seems to be choosing the best path and more often than not, it seems like it's right there if you just take a second to look for it. Try taking a minimalist approach; it feels like I'm always more successful when I'm able to do it in less moves. It gets messy after 100 steps though, so at that point you've just gotta have good climbing sense. Still nothing terribly mind-bending... like Obelisk... Obelisk... I don't want to climb that again. The music's lovely though.

Thanks. Also, Kira's right. Try taking the quickest path like a spot where you only have to pull one block to get up or a spot where you don't have to move any blocks to get up. I always have a great time until I get to a specific point in the map. It's near the end where you have little to work with a whole lot of cracked blocks. Now if only there was an option to turn off "New Record" so the climbing would feel more badass.

On the PS3 version, I was only able to get to 50-55. The stage starts with shapes that look like bombs with babel blocks in the center of them. It is a pretty BS stage....however, on Pair, you have the advantage in practically every way possible.... deterioration speed is 10x slower, the blocks come out better, there are no babel blocks until the end, and obviously, the quicker goal. Playing it on 1P is what one would say, that person is a glutton for punishment.

For those of you who don't yet know, Axis Mundi is currently broken in both the PS3 and Xbox 360 US version of the game and cannot be completed in Single Mode.
You can read more about the problem here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/60530...erine/60025552
So if you're in a hurry to get the Platinum Trophy for the game, you'll have to play through Axis Mundi using 2 Controllers in "Pair Mode" instead. At least until Atlus releases a patch to fix the problem.

well it's not exactly impossible to beat it's just really really hard to do so.
The current 4th place record holder on the Ps3 leaderboards was someone who beat Axis Mundi solo on the NA version.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but PS3's aren't region locked, right? Do JP and US versions of games have unique trophy sets or something? I mean how can you tell it was done on a US version of the game? That sounds confrontational--I don't mean it that way; I just don't have a PS3 so I can't confirm or investigate. At any rate, even if that's the case, the XB360 leaderboard still looks abysmal. I'm number 7 with 51 steps. Number 1 has 57.

Trophies carry over. So you could platinum the game by using both versions.

The US version of Axis Mundi is glitched on solo from what I understand and has more complex block patters earlier on and falls faster, Iggy is putting together a video and maybe if enough people ask for it we can get a patch.

Axis mundi us tips and tricks
According to the ps3 leader boards, axis mundi solo can be beaten, in twelve minutes, even, on the us game. However, it is clearly difficult because there are many incomplete scores on the top 1000.
I've gotten to 62 steps myself. Here are some tips:
-watch playthroughs of the Japanese version on YouTube, and fast forward to 260 steps in. The patterns that drop then are the patterns that drop at the start of the us version.
-listen to the ost on your computer and mute your game so that you don't have to hear NEW RECORD all the freaking time oh my god
Anyone have other tips? How far have you gotten on axis mundi us solo?
