It would be a DLC, like a secret character... like the fourth hokage in Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3... and we all know his status. Making Hamuko or Minato a secret character doesn't really makes them come back from the dead... take it more as a fanbase... I think it was called like that XD. But yeah, the DLC doesn't make those two part of the main game.

The name still kinda bothers me though... I get that with the title only being Arena, it feels as a fighting game... but it doesn't sounds as a sequel to P4... it sounds more like a fighting version of Persona 4... sigh... why do I keep thinking about it? I seriously don't like changes you know... or at least changes that keeps the feel of the game, like ''The Ultimate Arena''... I'm acting very immature, sorry.

It's not really a sequel, though. It' is more a spin off. I mean this takes place AFTER p4 but.. I don't really see it as being Persona 4-2 or P4.5 or something.. I doubt the whole of the story for this is going to continue much of what was done in P4 beyond superficial stuff.
The new character droid girl is.. interesting. I almost think they wanted to add Aigis' sister Metis from P3's FES chapters... but they don't really look alike at all...

She's a new character named Labrys, and she's the Yasogami Student Council President. Her weapon of course is that giant axe and she strangely doesn't have a Persona. Whether this means she doesn't have one or Atlus JP and ArcSys don't want to reveal it yet is unknown at this point.
Her reason for fighting Teddie is to stop the tournament as president.

That's what i thought at first as well. Maybe she'll pop up later as DLC or something.
As for the new droid girl, i just hope she has a real story in this, and not just some joke character to make the roster bigger.
EDIT: Ah, well you answered my question right before i posted. Don't see how fighting in the tournament would make it stop, but whatever. Doesn't sound so bad.

Now that you mention it... I don't see the plot very complex... but that's the classic ''judging the book by the cover''.

lol wut? O.O What's the Kirijo group's motivation for creating a robot and instructing her to become president of the student council at some hick highschool?
Or... Even if she's not related to the Kirijo group... Why is a robot going to school in the first place? Might have a hard time hiding those metal kneecaps in that uniform XD (at least Aigis could pass as a student in the Gekkoukan uniform) Oh, I forgot, this wasn't supposed to make sense >.< haha
They could have added Junpei, Yukari, Koromaru, Ken, even Shinji, but instead they need to throw in some filler character instead of a character we're familiar with? >.>

I wouldn't be shocked if they ended up as DLC characters or something. Except maybe Shinji, since he's sort of dead.
Seeing as this is a Persona-related game, I'd expect that to be explained...but seeing as it's a fighting game, I'm not really expecting it to.

Arc and Atlus JP stated that there will be an original character unique to P4A. And it seems like Labrys is it. However, is she the big baddie? Or is it another character? Only time will tell

Well BlazBlue had pretty good story modes. Hopefully this game will have something too. Though I suppose this character's kind of out there, not sure how they could explain her back story. Either way I imagine she looks more like a person when attending school.

I read an article on Destructoid that said Labrys was in some Drama CD for Persona 3, so she isn't technically new?

I'm really excited for this release. I've been playing Persona 4 again since I started watching the anime on Hulu.

I absolutely love Labrys's design. It looks like a combination of Persona 3 (Anti-Shadow robots) and Persona 4 (Yasogami High School uniform) design elements. I do hope we eventually see how she looks underneath her uniform though. I mean, Aigis and Metis are technically naked half of the time too!
This is how Atlus makes robot fetishes out of us, people.

Is Famitsu sure? Because from this video, Labrys is using something. And even if the Labrys in the video is just her Shadow (or whatever this version of Labrys is) and a boss character, it still sounds possible to use her with that thing when she eventually becomes playable in the console versions of the game.
And I just realized that Teddie is using Kintoki-Douji in this game, even though his Persona should've transfigured into Kamui regardless if the player put any effort into maxing anyone's Social Links.
Also, if the images are really big, can you guys please provide a link instead? I only have a tiny netbook to work with here, and it's cumbersome having to have to scroll left and right in order to read everyone's posts.

Not to mention after the battle Labrys seems to get a Persona the same way the P4 crew did. I guess we'll have to wait until the game comes out to get any solid info on her.

Oh snap Atlus, I read that Playstation Blog post. Don't let me down with those Japanese voices. Please, especially if you can't bring together the entire original English cast.

Japanese voices would be a pain to implement, especially with the localization edits they've done
Teddie = Kuma
Mayonaka TV = Midnight Channel
The announcer calls out Kuma when Teddie wins
Even when the game starts, characters will say "Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena"
Atlus USA'll have to play it smart if they want Japanese audio in P4A. IMO it seems like it would be less of a headache to leave them out. And if people complain, oh well

That's going to be a problem with Persona 4: the Golden as well, then. The opening of the game has the names of the characters flash by in English. One of them is "Kuma"
What are you going to do? Leave out the opening because it's a headache?

Well I don't see P4: the Golden having dual audio, so probably not a problem?
Either way I'm really hoping they include Japanese voices in Arena.

They might edit it. They DID edit the in-game files for the television show titles.

But that's because those were images, we are talking about animation... I think it's a different matter there...

I would say it won't be a problem. On one hand, I could see them having the animation company that did the clips design it twice and substitute the english in as they knew the plan was to release it overseas all along. On the other hand.. editing video is NOT that hard and if they have tech's at Atlus USA with a simple video editor and a photoshop program.. they could do it themselves, run it by Atlus jp for confirmation and have the new video swapped in.
Seems like a non-issue to me.

Its far more serious here. The Japanese voice cast all address Teddie as 'Kuma'. Unless Atlus does a retcon and Teddie is now Kuma, I don't think Japanese voices can be added without dubbing inconsistencies.
And not just Teddie/Kuma The Midnight Channel/Mayonaka TV as well.

I don't really see how it would be a problem with voices. It would hardly be the first game I've played where characters were being addressed as something different in the JP audio track.

Besides, 99% of the audience listening to the Japanese voice tracks won't know what the hell they are saying anyway. They could all call Teddy Alfred instead and almost no one would know the damned difference. Total non-issue.

Animation is just a series of images played quickly together.

While I'm completely fine with them not including Japanese voices because Atlus does localizations instead of strict translations, Teddie/Kuma(Bear) are at least similar, as are The Midnight Channel and Mayonaka TV(Midnight TV). It's not a huge error unless you're expecting things to be exactly the same, in which case you probably don't ever want to listen to a Japanese dub with an English translation because they're often changed to suit English better.

Fair enough guys. And I guess they have changed up animation in the past.
But it would be nice to have it.

To be fair, those that DO want Japanese voice tracks would probably be able to understand whether they called him Teddie, Kuma, Alfred, or whatever.
You may have been joking or whatever there, but it can be hard to tell with some people. Lastly, it's not a non-issue (for me).
