I mean, I guess Ogre Battle 64...
It was produced by quest who had the dude that is better known now for some of the Final Fantasy series. Unfortunately, not only has the game been lost to time but so has its 'Game type' too! Anyhow, it was the best and made the most lasting impression on my gaming personality in my youth.

My first Atlus game was so long ago i don't quite remember.
I stopped playing Atlus games for a while up untill Catherine was released. Soon after that i found out what SMT was, which led me to Persona.
Since then i've started geting back into Atlus games and have been doing research on SMT titles, and other games i missed.

Tail Concerto was my first Atlus game. It was a system seller, I wasn't interested in the PlayStation until I saw this game. It was a no-brainer, and it's one of my prized games.
It's pretty rare nowadays, I've seen it for $120. Undoubtedly a gem.

Brigandine: Legend of Forsena was my first Atlus game years ago. To this day I still go through phases where I play it almost exclusively for a couple months here and there. I tracked down Kartia shortly thereafter. After playing these two the "Atlus" name was enough to pique my interest in any game. Great games!

Digital Devil Saga for the Ps2. I borrowed it from someone and fell in love with it. It took me a while to fully understand, then I bought Persona 3 a few years later, and after i bought that, I just followed ATLUS around like a baby duck. I'll buy ATLUS games before I usually even think about others.

It was the early 00s when I got a game called Snowboard Kids. I was delighted with the game and so were my friends. It wasn't until 2008 when I got a PS2 and some friends recommended me Shin Megami Tensei. I booted Nocturne and was greeted with that familiar logo. After a couple of hours with the game it easily became my favorite RPG of all time. I became a megaten fan, got Persona 4, which is one of the best games available for the allmighty PS2, and joined Megaten Online where many lulz were had.

Haha, mine was Snowboard Kids too! I have so much nostalgia for those games, my best friend and I loved them like no one else did (also Chocobo Racing, which is possibly even less loved).
How funny that we're both big Megaten fans now!

Well, it may have been Samurai Western, can't remember when I first rented/played it...
But Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne was the first game from them that I really payed attention to anything involving the developer/publisher, and the game that got me buying the crap out of all Atlus' games.
And ever since it came out I still continue to ask:
"Atlus, why u no make SMT4 (SMT4 for PS3)?"

I'm hoping that after Persona 5 we'll see either a main series game or another spinoff title on the PS3. It's almost a shame that Persona is so popular, it leaves the rest of the series in the dark as far as possible releases go.

Knowingly, it was Persona on the PS1. It was such a nice contemporary change of pace from all of the sci-fi and fantasy RPGs I'd played up to that point.
However, I only recently found out that Atlus developed Dungeon Explorer for the TG-16, and I had that game as a kid. So apparently that was my fist exposure to Atlus, and I didn't even know it.

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. I think. There may have been another before that, but if so, I don't remember. Although if we're going by games Atlus developed, that would be P3:Fes

My first introduction to Atlus was Trauma Center: Under the Knife.
Never knew in the future I would be a Persona addict.

I actually prefer another main Shin Megami Tensei title... I mean, it has already been 9 years since a decent main SMT (Nocturne of course). I wonder why is Atlus so focused on Persona... I know that those are the main money maker currently, but Shin Megami Tensei was their first success, if it wasn't for Shin Megami Tensei, Persona wouldn't even exist now.
So Atlus Japan... BRING ANOTHER MAIN SMT!!!

I apperently lied originally when I posted on this topic stating I played Persona 2 Eternal Punishment or Thousands Arms first.
My first game from Atlus was apparently Crusader of Centy. I remember renting this game from Video Warehouse as a kid but didn't realize until about a month ago that the game was published by good ol' Atlus!

Hmmm
Brigandine was the first Atlus title I ever owned. To this day I still play it regularly. And also to this day I'm still mad about Grand Edition never being released in the US. I can understand Japanese...the problem lies in I cant read Kanji lol. Actually, I would love to see another entry into this series. Hands down one of the best Strategy games out there, ever.

It was pretty much through a preview of DemiKids I read in the-magicbox during the summer of 2002 (I was nine years old at the time).

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. I remember someone made an awesome signature for it on one of the forums that I went to back then, that I felt like I had to check out what it was all about and I liked what I saw. Then conveniently I randomly saw a copy of it in the store so I picked it up. Best decision ever!

My first introduction to an Atlus title was Persona 4. On a forum I tend to hang out in, there was a big thread about the SMT series. Since a few people whose gaming opinion I value were talking about the series in absolutely glowing terms, I was intrigued. They told me that a good gateway in the series (since I was originally a FF fanboy) was the Persona games.
So I found a copy of Persona 4 at Gamestop. Played the hell out of that game (Kanji is my fav character hands down, in a game filled with absolutely lovable characters). Then from there I moved on to the other 3 Persona titles, Nocturne, Strange Journey, Digital Devil Saga, Devil Survivor 1-2, and Devil Summoner. Then I moved on to other titles that bear the Atlus logo like Catherine and a number of other DS titles I can't recall offhand.
I completely fell in love with the playstyle, writing, and characters in all their titles. They quickly became my favorite game company followed by Bioware and Bethesda, and everything they release has become a day one purchase for me.
Can't wait for P4Arena, I need my Kanji fix.
