Digital Devil Saga on PSN - PS2 Classics [EU, for now?]
I'm sure we'll get it eventually. Awesome news at any rate.
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/02/16...station-store/ (Come on Lucifer's Call!) |
One more reason why Ghostlight is the savior of the EU for SMT games. Now Atlus, I expect you too to do this sometime in the future for NA...though I suspect you'll screw with us around the time of the announcement.
|
There goes my dream of an HD collection. Ohh well I still have my physical copies of both DDS games here is hoping that Sony plans to make PS2 Classics playable on Vita because if it does then I'll buy them asap.

I've always wanted a copy of Lucifer's Call for novelty sake. |
I'm just gonna say that if Atlus USA puts Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne on PSN, and it just so happens to be a translation of the Maniax Chronicle Edition, so I can finally gather the Demi-Fiend and Raidou Kuzunoha into a single badass team in English, I will buy it the day it comes out.
Just sayin', y'know, for the sake of it. ;) |
Well, it's only a few new lines... but really, Dante fit the universe way better than Raidou does.
Dante wants Lucifer's head. Raidou's... there because Gotou says 'hey, that guy looks kinda powerful, let's go beat him up'. |
Yeah, well, I maintain that Raidou is cooler than Dante. Because I'm cooler than Dante. ;)
And I was Raidou for two forty-hour games and will take any opportunity to join forces with him again, especially since a third Raidou game just doesn't seem very likely. |

Now that I think of it, wasn't Dante just there because Blonde Old Man paid him to be there? Not that money isn't a great reason to do stuff, but I don't see how it's more compelling than Raidou being there 'cuz Blonde Old Man hired him from 193X.
@Tsuko: I figured. I'm just saying it'd be a wonderful surprise that would actually get me to buy a digital download game -- something that has infinite stock, so I can easily sit back and wait for price drops -- in a hurry. That and it's the last chance this version has of coming here. |
PLEASE, i need all Megaten games from PS2
Well, I was about to create a new topic but thank godz someone already put this subject here. So the question is: is there ANY possibility to DDS and DDS2 enters in PSN so I can download this peal jewelry incredible piece of heaven. I really love this game, not only DDS but Shin Megami Tensei 3 and Devil Summoner Soulless Army and King Abaddon too. So PLEASE Atlus, put all these games for download, don't need anything extra, just put on PSN so we can play in HD.
Desperate here hahaha Thank you :) |

Does Dante even realize that he's working FOR Lucifer? I think he does by the end of True Demon, since he realizes the best way to meet him is to go with the guy who's about to serve him. |
I've never really had any reason to believe Dante was all that bright, so... :P
Now, I could totally believe Raidou and Gouto would investigate their quarry and client at the same time. I mean, they did it in both of their own games. But Dante? Not so much. He could've just as easily have gotten distracted between chasing you around Third Kalpa and flipping that coin. :D |
The chances of this happening in the U.S. should be pretty high. I mean the PS2 classics available include Odin Sphere and God Hand, not exactly the highest profile games on the system from a mainstream perspective.
|
Is this a proper HD version or one of those wretched PS2 Classics?
I want to be happy about this for those that didn't get to play it, but PS2 Classics have been very unpleasant to look at. It just isn't right that Sony just takes a game and stretches it to 720p without cleaning it up. I'd pretty much rather have an HD remaster if that's what we're looking at. It was fun while I played it, but I doubt I'd ever play through it again as that the second game picked up where the first left off in terms of encounter rate and pretty much stayed here. |
I'm sure it'll be available in the US soon. Just gotta have some patience :J
|
I'd rather see Nocturne, but any SMT news is good news.
|
Licensing's probably a bit trickier on Nocturne's US version with Dante being in it and all.
Largely why I'd rather see an HD version or a 3DS or Vita version of Nocturne, it would be easier to dump Dante for Raidou... Plus it would give them an excuse to put a proper Raidou Vs. Demi Fiend battle theme mix in there, like something close to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEBxe...eature=related Its still not close to the version that's been swimming in my head for years, but I don't have the kind of musical talent needed to mix it :P |

I also have retail copies of both, but I wouldn't mind it all having them on my PS3 HDD. Quote:
It would be more likely to see a straight digital localization of the version with Raidou, since there is no voice acting needed, than an enhanced port(like Persona 4: The Golden for the Vita). However the 3DS does not support HD graphics and even if they made it for say, Vita/PS3/WiiU/360/Whatever, Nocturne is somewhat of an obscure title that from a financial standpoint wouldn't make sense to port, specially if that would mean a translation of a version that never made it to western shores(as mentioned before Capcom's Dante would complicate things) and therefore spending development time and resources. Now, please don't get me wrong SMT3:Nocturne is my favorite JRPG of all time, I like it better than SMT2, Digital Devil Saga, Persona, P3:FES, Strange Journey, Every non-online Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Grandia, etc, etc. I have more than 240 hours in it(TDE with every sidequest done, everything maxed out) and I would love to play it again on my PS3, I just don't think it will happen and honestly after Atlus is done with the Vita port of P4 I would rather have them develop(and announce) some brand new current or next gen console game, be it Persona 5, SMT4(yes I know Strange Journey is technically SMT4) or something along those lines. Sorry about the rant, back to the topic at hand, Ghoslight just posted on their official blog that, and I quote: "the code and metadata are currently with Sony and we’re very hopeful that both these classic JRPGs will be released on the PSN Store before the end of the month, but if not some time during April. Expect an official release date and price very soon. It shouldn’t be too long now before these devils are available digitally." I hope that means Atlus will have no problem also releasing these fine games eventually on the US PS Store, since the necessary coding is already underway. |

All the same we're in agreement. There should be nothing holding Atlus back from re-releasing Nocturne with Dante. |
So they didn't come out in March nor April, and no release date yet. I'm getting so impatient xD
|
Have the games officially come out on the Europe PS2 Classics? I was wondering and also I believe that the games will come out here maybe in the fall.
|
Not yet and there's no release date.
|
I wish Nocturne/Digital Devil Saga would get announced for US PSN already. :)
