is it really necessary to publish such games?
Is there no possibility to make money with your catalog from Japan?
Are times really so bad for RPGs.
Its kind of frustrating.

The Cursed Crusade is a perfect example of the sort of game that’s being squeezed out nowadays: badly produced, cheaply made and full of tired clichés, both in gameplay and in its story. I feel sorry for it in a way, but not sorry enough to recommend it as a pity-purchase. It’s slow-paced, treacley, overly simple, and long-winded enough to bore you to tears.
IGN Ratings for The Cursed Crusade (X360)
Rating Description
out of 10 Click here for ratings guide
4.0 Presentation
A limp medieval setting that is in no way inspiring, and the supernatural daemonic twist adds no flair.
4.0 Graphics
Motion capture is acceptable, but flame and blood effects are desperately sub-standard.
3.0 Sound
So badly compressed in places that it actually jangles.
4.0 Gameplay
Boring, repetitive, far too easy, terrible input lag. Playable, but not enjoyable.
3.0 Lasting Appeal
The campaign is short, and about 60% cutscene - and you will not want to play again with a friend.

Thats what happens when you stop caring about the fanbase that made you relevant in the first place.

Atlus japan still has it. They know. Look at what theyve done this year, devil survivor 2, gungir, radiant historia, gloria union, and more.

What has atlus USA done aside from publish just a few of there parent companies games? Not much

Even king of fighters 13 is getting mediocre to bad reviews. A 7 from ign is the latest

Well, when that supposedly ever-so-important fan base made many of their JRPG efforts fail to turn a profit I think it would be foolish to think they would continue to churn them out. The fan base has no one to blame for what they perceive to be a shift in focus but themselves. Oh, and before anyone thinks to try the old "look at the post count/signatures/etc over here, here, or here" argument: No, a handful to a couple hundred overly vocal Japanophiles does not equate to a profitable or even remotely loyal fan base.

Starting to grow extremely weary of these things coming up time and time again from the same few malcontents...

The game is out at this point, hope some people end up liking this game. Might have gotten for the co-op but my brother's too young to play this with me. I understand people are frustrated that Atlus is publishing fewer games, but who knows? Maybe we'll here something about Gungnir in January-February. I can wait.

Anyway Vampiric, I think you're being a little harsh towards the King of Fighters XIII reviews. A 7.0 from IGN is "good." The main criticisms were about some cheap boss fights and that input lag still remains in the online version, although it's better than the previous entry's lag.

If you want a "mediocre" IGN review, check out their review of Baroque for ps2. Good times. :D

Who says they havent turned profit? Because nisa and xseed, akyss will tell you they do. Square and nintendo will tell you they do.

If atlus cant thats a problem with management. Thats not a problem with bringing the game over.

I'm officially annoyed. AtlusUSA has brought us so many great games and they bring us a few games that some people might enjoy and the people who only pay attention to reviews come to the forums to bash AtlusUSA?

Cursed Crusade is actually fun all faults aside. I wish gamers weren't so critical or payed attention to reviews.

And King Of Fighters XIII? I hope Atlus picks up XIV. The last thing I want to see is SNK go out or stop releasing games in the US. It is a fantastic game BTW. Probably the best fighter out this year.

Just because you don't agree with a few of AtlusUSA's choices in publishing doesn't mean they are forgetting their fans or their origins. If anything they are branching out trying to appease more people and giving attention to more games that never would have seen the light of day in the US beyond imports.

I mean darn them for taking chances! At least they are brave enough to take risks. Most companies are playing it safe and coming out with Marvel vs Street of Halo War Creed 75....

While I am adamant about my stance you are entitled to your opinion and I hope my words can sway your dissatisfaction with Atlus' decision to publish such games.

This may be my first post, but I am a long time fan of what Atlus has accomplished as a company and a publisher. And technically it is only my first post because my old account no longer exists. Did they overhaul the forums in the past few years? haven't been by to check them in awhile.

I hope, they won't forget there roots. If I did not care about one of my favorite publishers,I would not make such threads.

Funny thread is funny. Is the game all that and a bag of chips, no. But it has gotten good scores from other sites and sources. Nothing "great" but so what? My favorite console RPG of all time got a 2 out of 5 from the gaming magazine I subbed back then, it didn't stop me from buying or loving the game. My favorite gaming site of today downright refused to even review Demon's Souls saying they could find no one willing to even play it when it released, again didn't stop me there either.

If you want to communicate with a company here is a tip. They hear one language loud and clear and this language can only be spoken by your wallet.

Atlus USA are a third party to Atlus Japan and all Japanese developers. Remember that.

(also, I don't think an IGN review reinforces anyone's opinion... at all, really)
