What do you like most about SRT OGs?

I'm of course asking about the GBA games (and hopefully the future PS2 ones)

My favorite part is the battle animations. Rarely would I turn them off... only if I knew I only had a couple minutes and wanted to get as far as possible.

I also liked the challenge of the second game especially.

For me, it's the mech's.

My personal favorite is the Alt Eisen, and it's upgraded form, the Alt Eisen Riese. I personally think that Riese could take down any gundam, hand's down.

Definitely the mechs. Giant walking death machines = totally awesome. They're such a refreshing change compared to the typical sword&sorcery-stuff that games like these usually got going for them. As an old fan of Mechwarrior and Heavy Gear I get the most kicks out of Alt Eisen and other "militarystyle" mechs. The super robots are kind of meh, though DyGenGuard is so ridiculous that it punches through to field of awesome.

The characters are great too. Even though strategy-RPGs usually sport a large cast of characters, the spotlight almost always remains squarely on the main characters and the others just stay silent after their introduction (think Fire Emblem) or are just completely random generated and without personalities. Not so with the OGs, where everybody talks talks talks all the time. And just how often is the main character also the coolest guy in the game, pilots the coolest mech and gets the hottest (and funniest) chick?

The best thing remains the character themes everyone knows they get pumped when they hear specific themes. When I heard Time To Come in OG1 i was automatically taken back to the days of the SNES titles.

This one is a hard choice to nail down for me, considering I love almost every aspect of the games. From the storyline, to the customization of pilots and units, to the battle system, the animations, the pilot themes, yadda yadda...

I think I'll have to settle with the character development, and how all of the characters are continuously woven into the storyline. Even if it's just Excellen randomly teasing Bullet and making him blush, all of the characters stay involved in the story somehow... which is something that similar games seem to have a harder time pulling off.

I totally agree with Hellfire. Great points and the nail got hit on in the head on that post. The game is sooooo good, it's hard to limit just "one" great aspect! :D

What I like most of this series. Is of course, the mechs. Like when you see the character's face cut-in anime scenes briefly then you see their attacks commence, and that they give the enemies no quarter to attack. Which's totally awesome. And I wish to see more.

Like with PS2's rendition of SRT OG. When you have the 9 person attack. Talk about intense.

My fav would have to be the battle animations. Especially the bigger ones like when Kyosuke and Excellen do their team attack......So Badass!!!!!

Then I started checking out videos of the other SRW games out there in the world and began to really drool over the PS2 battle animations. Damn licensing issues though will make it so i never get to play with the neon genesis eva. mechs.

The battle animations, the story.. the sheer customization options. SRT is just a pleasure to play. It's extremely long too! (Especially for the already released GBA titles.) Great bang for your buck.

The mechs are awesome. I'm also a huge RPG fanatic and since Gundam games either have crappy battle systems or mechs, this series provided exactly what I was looking for. I thought the storyline in OG1 was better than OG2.. o_O; OG2 was like.. one wild fantasy roadtrip.
