View Full Version : Demon's Souls 2 Ideas

I'll be focusing on 2 things mainly.
1) New Play Through Diversity.
2) CO-OP and PVP Suggestions.
New Play Through Diversity
Demon's Souls has great re playability. Unfortunately, the only thing that separates play through 1 from play through 2 is how much HP the NPC's have and how much damage they do. Everything else is the same. Perhaps they can expand on this idea and change the face of play through 2+ without actually adding new models and textures.
Take world 1-1 for example. In play through 1 there are slave soldiers and dreglings. In play through 2 these enemies could be swapped for blue eyed knights. Where Blue eyed knights used to be in play through 1 could be swapped for red eyed knights in play through 2. In other words, not only do the enemies do more damage and have more HP but, the world would become more challenging based on the type of enemies that you're facing. This I believe will add much greater replay value to a game with multiple play through.
CO-OP and PVP Suggestions
In addition to the current PVP system in Demon's Souls, perhaps a new innovative multi-player system could be implemented for the less hardcore players out there. Players would have the ability to invade another player's world without the host knowing that he got invaded. The player that invaded would be running around the invaded world as an invisible phantom that can take control of any NPC at will. It would be similar to a Demon that can possess and control another soul. Even if the host kills the invader controlled NPC, the invader can still run around and find another NPC to possess. The invader controlling the NPC would be limited to what the NPC can do.
I think there are so many ideas out there to make an amazing game with great replay value. Demon's Souls is one of the few games out there that doesn't hold your hand and challenges their player base. The question is, how can you keep the player base challenged enough in multiple play through?
One shot 1 kill might be challenging for awhile but, diversity is the key I think.

How about something that allows the host to turn off whether or not he/she can be invaded.
That way noobs can pvp when they feel they are ready, or avoid it entirely.
This setting could also work for co-op, but the two would function separately.

I think allowing a host to summon 2 red soul signs would be great. Also the ability to make your soul signs only visible to certain players if you choose. Getting summoned by someone else when your trying to play with your friend is annoying.

You'd have to play against two terrible people, be really good, or expect to die.
lol
The specific summoning thing sounds great, but would that make it like a invite?
Choice chat is awesome, I guess.

That'd be good, and I'll add that in addition to that, you shouldn't be able to summon from a Blue sign if you have summoned from a red (unless you actually did summon TWO reds, to make it 2vs2). Something to prevent the red sign ambushers, at least.

There's a lot of ideas in that topic that From Software could use.

I think it's pretty clear that From didn't expect people to take one character through a dozen playthroughs. The option is there because it was easy to implement in its current form, but it's really little more than a small added bonus. I wonder how many people really ever go beyond NG+. Let's not forget we're a small minority of hardcore fans here.
I still think it's mostly things like the poorly thought out inventory that need fixin'. Other than that, if the sequel does happen, I'll be happy if Sony doesn't take control of it and pull its teeth to make it more "accessible" or whatever buzzword is fashionable that week among the idiots who apparently suggested turning God of War III into an FPS... because that's the level of dumbnuttery we're talking about here.

There seem to be people at Sony whose idea of game design is basically to make everything more like whatever happens to be popular on any given week. So they'll literally look at something like GoW and ask if it can be turned into Call of Duty. And if these monkeys don't even understand something as straightforward as God of War, I shudder to think what they'll do if they get their hands on Demon's Souls...

.....OMG.....maybe it means Kratos will be reincarnated as Master Chief in Halo 4 for PS3 and xbox:surprise: :p

Yeah and they live in the accounting and marketing departments at Sony
Ontopic:
I think they should add a "Soul Anchor" spell or a "Blood Essence" stone to the game. The "Soul Anchor" or "Blood Essence" stone would warp you back to your bloodstain. The "Soul Anchor" would be used like the "2nd chance" miracle. I would like the stone to be a drop on special spawning BPs, certain enemies or on large Double Winged Hawks that now attack you in Demon's Souls 2:devil:
I'd like a "predator" ring too(visual stealth);)
I also wouldn't mind the option to import my Demon's Souls one character(s). I'm not sure that'd be possible though since I don't know if Demon's Souls 2 is going to pick up right after the first game in an opened up nexus or a prequel that takes place before the first game!:frown:

hmmmm maby giving black phantoms that invade the option to summon more bp from red soul signs.
add a jump feature to the game (i like jumping lol)
maby the story could allow you to join the old one and the game changes from killing demon's servants to hunting regular humans and spreading the fog.
needs voice chat soo bad.
thinking of call of duty i would like a killcam when you kill a bp or person you invaded
a first person mode would be cool (and really hard)
as for replay value maby just giving the enemies auras to make them look more powerful. or having traps that can be placed at random locations in the game to keep you on your toes.
maby adding an npc that you can hire and he/she will fight with you for a level for the people who don't have internet.
but i think more of the same would work with demon's souls 2. don't fix what ain't broke.

oh and the story could follow if you choose the bad ending. i don't know if a preqil would work cuz it would force you to save the world at the end cuz the monumentals beat the old one.

Going off of what others have said in this thread, here's my Red Soul Sign re-work idea. Make it so that a host who has summoned one or two Phantoms can lay a Red Soul Sign. Using it will then summon the host, and both his Phantoms, as Black Phantoms.
To use a Red Soul Sign, you must have the same player count as the person who placed it. So, for example, if somebody summoned a Phantom and then placed a Red Soul Sign, only somebody who had one Phantom could activate the Red Soul Sign.
Also, similar to how Phantoms are banished if they host dies, if the Black Phantom who placed the Red Soul Sign dies, the Black Phantoms who were regular Phantoms in his world are also banished instantly. However, in this form of PvP, if a Black Phantom dies, they are sent back to the host Black Phantom's world. Also, to even out the HP advantage of the host, all Black Phantom's look the same, so you don't know which one is the host Black Phantom.
Also, custom classes. They'd be so easy. You start with 10 in every attribute, and 10 points to spend. You can lower any stat down to 6, or raise it up to 15. Then you choose your starting armor set, and three weapons, and can choose to either have a starting miracle or spell if you want one.

I say lets not make any ideas for this, we can fantasize but in reality if you take demons souls as a whole for the average gamer this game is simply amazing, trying to specialize it to a small fan base might just deter future players, I say let From Software make a sequel the way they want, and give their hardcore fanbase a free demo!!! >:D Oh and dont let Sony put their grimy little money mongering fingers on the development of this game, because if they do this game will just become a complete bore fest of epic failness. And sure some of these ideas would be okay, but ONLY as an add on for the people who want it (namely Demons souls hardcore player fanbase ^__^)

video games now a days are getting too mainstream, just like music. This is why I LOVE DS, this is in no way "original" per se, but, it does have a certain feel to it that I have not felt in years. and not that it's hard anymore but when I first got it, it kicked my @$$, I love that in a game. but another thing.... I don't want DS2 to get worked over by deadlines, budget, corporate opinion, or "money making potential" DS is fine the way it is, but minor improvements should be done to multiplayer. also, harder bosses would be nice, specialized class movements i.e if you're a thief you move like a ninja, warrior your movements are more robust, and mage is more evasive, just to mix it up a bit. and spells that send enemies spiraling through the air!!!

I'd like to be able to level up armor and customize them with special attributes. I'd also like to see visual changes to the weapons and armor that you level up. More elemental spells like ice, water, wind, telekinesis, etc.
An improved graphics engine that allows for blood to show on your armor and weapon, allow you to pick up arrows off of corpses, and the ability to decapitate your standard enemies and black phantoms.
And it would be cool if the game had some community feature that kept track of who you kill and who you've teamed up with, among other things.
Maybe some horde/survival mode or arena for an extra challenge. For replay value change the location of traps and I like pointchiz's ideas too.
There are so many ways to expand on this game, I just hope they keep the difficulty at the forefront.

Personally I'd like to be able to chat inside the game via VOIP. (something that Microsoft's 360 nailed beautifully, but for some reason, Sony can't figure it out. . . The option to create a game room and invite friends, password the rooms, broadcast game with support for hotseat "jump in and out joins", the ability to open a trade window with people and swap gear with an autosave that takes place the moment the window is open to the moment it is closed. Dropping items is a bit scarey, when and if you should lose connection, those items are gone. LAN support too, rather than run on a server, why not be able to system link and or have your friends over for a LAN party and just all plug into a switch. Aside from that, the game was creepy, spooky, visually and musically. I loved every single second I spent playing the game. Aside from Resident Evil games, this is the only game outside that genre/ series where I actually feared for my characters life because I was so into the game. I loved how vast the game world was visually (World 4 for example), looking out in the distance to see mountains, other structures, etc. It all made the game world feel larger than what it was based on confinement to playable area. Don't change the look, sound, music and feel of the next game, should one be released for sure. Demon's Souls had it all. What a beautiful game and refreshing break from the same ol' RPG style crud that chokes the market today.

My ideas for DS2.
- Server text chat, Chat to all who's online.
- Voice/text Chat during CO-OP.
- Create Clans/Guilds and have ranking matches.
- More Archstones, Demons and bigger levels.
- More Armors and Weapons, and maybe some sort of customize your own.
- Warehouse to put items for trade between your different characters.
- More detailed Pantheon (Leaderboards).
- In-game buddy list, from which you can summon/invade/challenge a selected player.
- New summon function with 6 as limited of summons. If summoning 2 players to help you, you can get invaded by 1 player, If 4 summoned you can get invaded by 2, if summoned 6, you can get invaded by 4. This would make Pvp more intense and more fun.
This is just a few ideas I have

i got it, how about real after release support for the sequel
you know fixing the server, delivering patches to fix bugs and oversights,
listening to the community and responding positively
not just saying "there is nothing we can or care to do about it"
how about some other company gets the i.p. and we can all sigh in relief
that it will be supported beyond tendency events
and published by anyone good and not activision or EA
this is not attacking atlus or From
it is attacking the lack of support from them
it seems like this game was made released and forgotten by its own creators

I think a Demon's Soul's 2 should focus on online interaction first and foremost.
I think the core of the game is solid. There are sufficient weapons (when you include upgrading) armors, etc... of course we'd want new ones for 2, but there doesn't need to be more in 2 than in 1. The amount of worlds is good also because you will die and you will replay them several times each playthrough and learning the world and the enemies, like learning a pinball board, is part of the advancement of this game. Player skill is required which is one of the best if not the best thing about Demon's Soul's.
Online interaction improvements:
PVP: Ladders, Tournaments, Group v Group (not guilds, though, just emergent groups like FPS games have), all with soul level ranges. The server could manage these instead of it being done via some external site or forum.
PVE: Allow players to join each other in the Nexus and choose who they will play with.
This leads me to suggest a shared Nexus for all (or at least a limited number of Nexus' that players can move between like Guild Wars cities). I think making the nexus a place where ghosts don't fade away, they stay visible to all in a particular instance of the nexus of which there would be at least a few to ensure quality performance.
This would enable interaction between people here without having to go through a bunch of trouble. For example if friends want to work together they gotta be sneaky and communicate outside of the game to find each other. If you want to trade you gotta go through even more trouble. This could happen in a shared nexus where people can chat and request to do this area or that area; or for some pvp (a 2 v 2 ladder, or 1 v 1 duel, or whatever).
These slight additions to the online systems would add so much to an already great game. Of course Id expect a new set of 5 worlds in a sequel, but the engine, the combat system, the character progression system are all great. Fix the bugs and glitches that people are abusing and wham, you got yourself a really solid feature rich online RPG. Some might even argue massively multiplayer, though of course it'd still be nothing like any other MMO.

I would love to see visual and ambient diferences in pure black world tendency and pure white world tendency.
For example in pure black the world may be covered by a deep fog where you can barely see, except the glowing eyes of the enemies and horrid demonic sounds where you can say: "Ok, this place is creepy" not just harder enemies and the primeval demon.
More sidequests in pure black world tendency and pure white, not just hunting for some NPC demon to get their weapon.
Visual change in the weapons you upgrade like if you upgrade a weapon with sucker stone the blade turns red and the weapon grows fangs or something, the thing is to make upgrading more interesting not just knowing that your weapon is +5 and makes more damage.
I really think that if theres a Demon's Souls 2 the game shouldnt concentrate in Online mode PvP, it should be balanced, not all the time youre gonna be in the mood for teaming up, sometimes you just want to go solo and enjoy the game, without having to run like crazy next to the guy that summoned you avoiding every enemy on the way, jump through a shortcut to kill the boss and presto!.
And more NPC to get their armor, so there are more possibilites to make your character unique and diferent from the combinations you can come up :).

I want more ways to change World Tendency. Boletaria had it right with the Dragons and Old King in addition to the normal npc BP and invade/aid others.
I want World Tendency to be more obvious, black skies/sunny skies in Boletaria, bubbling swamp/non-poisonous water in world 5, more prisoners/no prisoners in tower of latria.
More side quests. No other level had hidden NPCs like the Witch or Biorr. I loved listening to Ostrava after I saved his ass yet again. These side things were a blast to play through and amazing once you figured them out.
Less grinding. I hate looking for shards or pure stones.
- Allow me to upgrade stone 4 shards> 1 Chunk; 4 Chunks > 1 pure
- Allow me to break stones too. 1 pure > 4 Chunks > 16 shards
Some sort of decision in each world that can lower or raise the WT, similar to how the decisions in Mass Effect altered your paragon/renegade.

I think allowing a host to summon 2 red soul signs would be great.
3 times the game has glitched on me two where there would be 1 host, 1 blue phantom and 2 black phantoms in one game
the 1st time i summoned 1 rss and it said summoning failed then i summoned another rss and while that rss was summoning a bp, the 1st bp got summoned
i let my blue fight it and then, the second black phantom got summoned and i faught it. there was 2 1v1s going on at once and it was completely unorganized. by natural dodging, the person i was fighting rolled behind my friend and it got to where it was the black phantom, my friend, me, the other bp in a line and my friend got backstabbed and i killed the person he was fighting and died by the person i was fighting because he lagged all over the place.
another time where 2 bps were in one game was when i summoned someone and someone invaded
i faught the person who invaded 1v1 while the bp that got summoned stood on the rock and watched. i killed both bps in 1v1 fights
the 3rd time there was 2 bps in the room i actually got summoned. when i got summoned, i heard the buffing noice and i thought i was going to get jumped but i saw another bp fighting the host. the bp lagged out and i dont remember how my fight went but those are my 3 times where 2 bps have been in one room.

heres what i think should happen
if you have pure black tendency then each world should turn into something like world 5
im not saying they should look exactly alike but im saying they should look gloomy, dark, full of death and despair
world 1 should not look the way it does if you have pure black
a giant fog surrounding the place would look amazing and eyes glowing in the background or even a giant shadow would be perfect
also i was really disappointed in the way the upgraded weapons all looked the same
crushing weapons should get bigger too provide a more powerful hit, sticky weapons should be cover in webs, stuff like that, not just a basic weapon
also, i will comment on other posts
the game shouldnt be just stronger enemies with more hp
the game should add more variety to it like different and more enemies as you increase in playthroughs
they could have easily added something more deadly than a red eye knight
and with pure black tendency, all the enemies should be black phantoms
as for an on or off option for pvp, it should be an on or off option for getting invaded
some ppl like to have friends to help them so an on or off option for getting invaded would allow them to not have to play in soul form and it would allow them to not have to play offline
something i would really like to see in ds2 is a giant arena where there is nothing but blue phantoms and black phantoms
with most online games there is about 16 ppl, 8 vs 8
a giant arena with 8 blues vs 8 blacks would be amazing in a fight to the death
or, u could have the option to fight free for all (it would b about 8 ppl vs each other) to see who is truly the king of ds
it would king of be like gladiators fighting to the death
also something i would like is that if a host has 2 blues and you invade them, the black phantom and the host get sent to a completely different world so they can fight 1v1 instead of the bp getting jumped

I think Demon's Souls 2 should have:
1. a better single player story (more npc interactions and back stories)
2. easier way to tell world tendency
3. more ways to change world tendency
4. more customizable/upgrade options (character and weapons)
5. dedicated pvp areas or arenas
6. a little better hit detection
7. include more very rare drops and create random encounters
8. have more "events" (tendency, tournaments, higher soul or drop rate?)
9. have a auto matching system for co-op play and maybe for pvp
10. voice chat
I will admit I am not a big pvp'er but MMO pvp slaughters Demon's Souls in almost every way. It makes me wonder why people play don't try MMO's instead of spending so much time complaining and waiting to pvp in Demon's Souls?

and what about hidden random pvp invasions from npc's that drop unique weapons/armor
i always thought it would be cool to have a group of npc's that invade randomly
sorta giving that multi player feel of being invaded when u least expect it
they could be different levels so as you progress the stronger the invaders get
sorta like the side arena in armored core games
and mix their levels up when moving to ng+ so its different each time

taking them out 1 by 1 is easy but fighting uria, sege freke, saint urbain, patches the hyena, ostrava, biorr and everybody else all at once would be hard and u wouldnt really be able to escape the fight because u always end up in the nexus

I would like to see:
Soul Pouches or Empty Soul Orbs - What these would do would act like a purse of sorts. Say you spend 50k souls to buy a pouch or orb that can store up to 20-30k souls. Make it kind of similar to the storied/legendary heroes soul goodies in the game right now, except you can fill it with an XX amount of souls. Just so if you've collected 20-30k souls clearing your way to the boss, if you die for some reason such as the boss blocking your only way of avoiding his unblockable attack or something, you don't lose all those souls you just got to something stupid. First time through could hold a max of 20k, second time through, 60k so on so forth maybe.
Also make it to where if the player happens to be carrying one on him at the time he is invaded by a black phantom, and the black phantom kills him, there is a period of about 10 seconds where you can run over to the slain hosts body and loot the soul pouch/orb.
Also I would like to know what garl vinland is talking about when you fight him. Remember when you fight him and he goes on a rant about how your character and Garl Vinland used to be almost like brothers back in the day? I would kind of like to know what that is all about.
This one might be a little nonsense but something I have been thinking about is:
What if there was another type of eye stone that instead of letting you invade somebodies world, you could invade their body. Like something you can get if you choose the "bad ending". Instead of like taking control of the hosts body when you invade, your black phantom soul and his phantom(which could be say white seens how hes not dead) is transported to a "battle ground" of sorts. Like if you invaded someone who chose to be a soldier when they started, that world would look like a bloodied battle ground, or if you invaded a mage the world would look like just a floating patch of earth with runes and random magic stuff flying around in the air and so on and so forth. If the Black Phantom wins the fight he gets control over the hosts body for like 10 seconds or so. He wont be able to mess around with his invantory so he can't win then just drop all his gear on the ground but he could like suicide him off a staircase or something. Kind of like possession.

This is just a few ideas I have
These are most of the ideas i had and came on here to post >.> looks like you beat me to it :D especially the bit about customising your own weapons and armor, also i would like the ability to jump, in many situations i have been thinking how better the game would be to jump. I feel to static to the ground.
Also the lock on system is rather wierd, should have made it so it doesnt turn you whatever way you are facing too, thats just stupid...

1 making it posible to use a headset in coop becouse its annoing te play a online game whitout a headset.
2 make coop better like host can rezz ,or summen the bleu phantoms to him when they die
3 give the posibilty so that a bleu phantom can heal a other player (so we can use as coop strategy a tank, healer, and dps) whit these things demons souls would be perfect. And the perfect online game.To be honnesd atm there are nog good online games on ps3 specialy no online rpg
How about something that allows the host to turn off whether or not he/she can be invaded.
Unplug your ethernet cord, that would change the design too much IMO. I love the way it is now and giving them the option in the clear would alienate a lot of online play IMO, yes it's a hassle to pull that cord :D
voice chat maybe?
Yes, I use xbox live party chat with a buddy while we play DS, it's way more fun.
You'd have to play against two terrible people, be really good, or expect to die.
lol
The specific summoning thing sounds great, but would that make it like a invite?
Choice chat is awesome, I guess.
Invites would be awesome but also invasion based off ratings. Aka if someone has several C grades he'll likely invade someone with a C rating.
That way your S players invade other S rated folk etc.
I think allowing a host to summon 2 red soul signs would be great. Also the ability to make your soul signs only visible to certain players if you choose. Getting summoned by someone else when your trying to play with your friend is annoying.
Team battles would be amazing 3 vs 3 etc. They really need a capture the SOUL lol.
I hope they really fine tune co op into the next game, it really is way more fun playing with friends.

I would really like to see the nexus turned into somekind of home hub area where all the online players in your level range would physically be.
With some kind of board where you can make posts or requests for help maybe.
I like the idea of a large trading center where you can buy or trade gear and souls with people in the nexus with you.
And the idea of more npcs is a really good one.
Customizing armor is a really good idea.
I would enjoy voice chat but only with people you are enteracting with.
If the upgraded weapons could somehow show that they were epgraded would be cool like fire on dragon swords and the fire gets bigger when it's upgraded more.
I would love to see what's inside the giants archstone.
If there were to be a second game I would like to see a prequel that goes back to before the nexus was created.

Trivial, really, but it would nice to hotkey an action to one button. For example, mapping the 'bow' command to L3, so you can perform it instantly instead of having to hold X.

you dont have to hold X but the character will still do the pull back animation so it won't fire any faster just by pressing X.

I don't really think the game needs a #2.
Just needs an addon.
Wouldnt effect the game to toss in an NPC in the Nexus that you talk to if you wanna join some larger scale PVP like CTF and TDM or FFA.
I agree with making it easier to trade in the Nexus or some other area added that wont touch the existing game.
Basicly this would be adding more to the end-game which most games dont even have.
I love the fact that this game can be played over and over and think it is the perfect setup to have end game battlegrounds ect...
I disagree on the voice chat, reason being that PS3 voice chat is an epic failure. You cant hear what people say and theres usually people nattering on you cant stand lol ect....
If you want voice chat just use Ventrilo on a PC and a wireless headset.
I have a vent server dedicated to PS3 chat and usually suggest the ASUS TravelLite 1000 wireless headset cuz its so clear and has perfect noise canceling. Cant hear people eating and stuff lol. Its awsome and cheap.
You dont need to buy a vent server to do this either, you can have like 8 or 10 people on the free client if you want.
I just run a server cuz I have a site for people at my office and other friends we have to get together and play so we all know whos playing what and when and make plans to play later on ect...
Kinda got off topic there but just wanted to point that out.
As for the armor and weapons, I dont think they need to be expanded on. The more variety you have for these types of things the more uneven the PVP gets.
I have to point this out, the only game out for PS3 that is a PVP sword and board game ect that isnt a FPS with "GUNS" is Fat Princess. I love the game but not the same as DS, its cartoon flash graphics and not a leveler, just a jump on and kill with tons of others. There was LOTR Conquest but it was a failure instantly because they added an invisible character that kills in 1 shot which like other games on PC that tried to do this failed as well.
Meatheads couldnt understand why their games were only popular for a couple days lol.
So, imo Demon Souls needs:
- An ADDON not another game made.
- NPC's added to the Nexus or wherever that allow you to join larger scale battlegounds or PVP like TDM, CTF, and FFA.
- Easier trade system or vendor added to advertise and sell/buy from others.
- Its obvious the players love the tournaments and ladders so a little more of that.
- TEXT chat (Not Voice) would be cool with that PS3 textpad.
- Impliment clans and or a place to advertise looking for members.
- A place to look for groups or people to help with something.
Everything else STAYS the same cuz for the first time ever, we have a game that has even scaled PVP, just needs more PVP and endgame added.

- The ability to make an invitation to blue phantoms
- Jump feature could add more variety. The difference inbetween light and heavy builds would no longer simply be speed and damage.
- Dismembering. I want to see their heads and arms fly off when I cut them!
- NG+ Variety
- More, more, more and MORE secrets in stages. Especially story related ones.
- A snow and rain setting
- Larger bosses
- Complicated, phase based boss battles. When their HP reaches certain point, they would start using new attacks and/or switch their weakness too. The arena could also change.
- More events instead of simple exploring.
- Alternate routes to the boss.
- More decisions that alter the following events in the game. For example, killing a good npc would make some areas accessable/unaccesable and spawn mini-bosses.
And the list goes on...

Btw what i would like is:
Really HARD (REAAAAALLY HARD) "fake boss" on Each world, if not more than one per world..
Like Vanguard, he is what I call "fake boss" he is not an normal enemy, and not a boss.. but he is easy.. I want each world to have some Demon like vanguard, but extremely HARD, harder than fighting Flamelurker using just Needle of Eternal Agony and No Grass
And, it must be like "Side Quest", not necessary to end the level... just like vanguard :P
While each NG gets X amount harder, this fake boss should get 3x harder without cap...

Vanguard is pretty hard in NG+(++++++++.....) when the manta rays spot you easier and fire those spikes at you, constantly.
Hi there. First I would like to say DS is a great game! I only joined this forum to give my 2 cents on possible improvements for DS2. I'm not very far into the game, but I've beat the first boss and explored and farmed for souls a bit. I have not played online yet.
1. Ability to lock shield into up/active position - so instead of holding the button down, you can click a button or 2 to keep the shield up until you do another action that would require you to put it down. My finger hurts from playing this game all day today (just the left pointer finger from holding the shield up)
2. Ability to turn off/on black phantoms, if you just want the online play to help you with messages & ghost replay.
3. Ability to ride a horse/animal - this could also allow you to jump over small obstacles to get to hidden areas ONLY. No jumping for regular characters.
4. Agree with those above that it would be really cool for world tendency to be more evident (dark - darker sky, thicker fog, etc; light - blue sky, lighter water).
5. Don't change too much!! Don't reinvent the wheel, just improve graphics basicly and add a few small tweaks is the main thing. Thanks for making a fun, difficult game! I normally don't play this type of game but because it won a lot of critical acclaim and reputation for being a challenge I I got it. Thanks!

How about something that allows the host to turn off whether or not he/she can be invaded.
That way noobs can pvp when they feel they are ready, or avoid it entirely.
This setting could also work for co-op, but the two would function separately.
Is called "Invasion" because you CAN'T dodge it.
Otherwise would be a DUEL REQUEST.

Imo black phantoms should have full HP. They die too easily.

- Invaders should spawn into a random spot on the stage.

:agree:
Yup! Its just plain ridiculous that there is the possibility to "wait for an invader to enter" at the exact spot you know hes gonna enter...
Maybe not even random, but let the invader choose where in the level he wants to enter, in a restricted way of course (at least some different spawn points to choose or up to a restricted but mostly free choice system), but after all, I think it could be fun/better/solve that problem. Of course the would have to add something for the Host to equalise it again, but there would be many things...

That'd be good, and I'll add that in addition to that, you shouldn't be able to summon from a Blue sign if you have summoned from a red (unless you actually did summon TWO reds, to make it 2vs2). Something to prevent the red sign ambushers, at least.
I agree fully. Either that or any phantoms that the host has would immediately be sent back to their own games. The programming behind these types of changes would be no small thing to accomplish though.

I think the Northern Land of the Giants would be a good place to start. I was hoping that arcstone gets rebuilt in a DLC but unfortunately I don't see that happening. I wish you could customize your armor(for utility, not looks). The ability to add poison or plague resistance to your armor would be nice. I don't know if Demon's Souls 2 will ever exist. But I want that arcstone. Give me one more level!

Yes, that would be great and would make things more difficult for jumpers.
Some ideas that I'd like:
Your Soul Sign:
It should display your soul level at the time you drop it. It should display your characters name as well as your PSN. It would be great to see the soul level & character name of the player on the red/blue soul signs. Also it would be cool if you could create your own little message/note to attach to your soul sign for a summoner to read, this would allow you to write things like what build you are, how experienced you are, what kind of player you are, if your looking for PvP or PvE and so on....
Weapon Upgrades:
Every regular non unique weapon ( except bows & shields ) should be able to be upgraded with dragon, moonlight, darkmoon, mercury, marrow, sucker, & faint stones. Why not have dragon daggers, mercury great swords or blessed kilij ? Hard, sharp, quality, blade & grey stones should remain the same as now. Cloud stone/dark shields need a lot of improving, they are worthless at the moment.
Pure Stones:
There should be only 1 guaranteed available every playthrough. I have done 3 or 4 playthroughs and not gotten a pure moonlight stone or darkmoon stone, and on others i'll get 2 or 3 on a 1st playthrough. So annoying and pointless. And this also means you get 1 pure bladesone each playthrough. Farming 50-200 hours + for 1 stone is ridiculous.
Clothing & Armour:
It would be great to get a lot more choice. Dresses, skirts, shoes, hats, capes, hats, that sort of thing. Maybe a clothing vendor or 2 would be a great idea.
Character Face & Name:
I'd like the option to edit my characters facial features & name during my game.
These are simple suggestions that would improve players experience and give it some extra role playing elements. I have more ideas, but thats all for now.

The variety of armor was indeed completely underwhelming, I also wish certain armors had value. For instance an armor could of had a low drop rate (by the demons), placed down on a randomly generated space on the worlds' grid. How about certain armor being attained in higher difficulties? I think it would be unique to have variations of designs, despite having the same stats. There's no distinction between players in this sense, but I guess that's what it took to refine the gameplay fluidity..

12. Upgrading with stones would be enough...

A few tweaks are needed to make coop more fun. Coop is fun as is. But it'd be nice to see more variety.
If Brushwood armor negated damage better, someone could serve as a tank of the group. It's easier for your partners to just grass rather than to let you heal them. It'd be fun to be a healer of the group. Backstab is only an animation for humanoids your size. But it'd be cool if someone distracted the boss and major enemies so your dex could get in some nasty backstabs.
So coop should scale in difficulty. Maneater should be as tough to beat with 2 blue phantoms. The reason you'd wanna coop wouldn't be to make the bosses easier with a bunch of people wailing on it, but to make the bosses more fun cause you can use various strategies only possible with multiple players.
So whenever you have blue phantoms, the enemies get harder. Including invading black phantoms to discourage jumping. But you can "jump" a much more powerful black phantom and try and use various strategies against them.
