View Full Version : Wierd delevelling

So about a day ago I made a new char. It was going to be a warding dex build so the best build to start off as was a temple knight.

With 6 mag i planned on levelling it up to 10 learning warding, then deleveling back to 6 and then raising my int and remebering the spell from yuria.

So i acciddentally screwed up and put some 30 points into end without realising. So seeing as there was no1 to soul suck me i had to invade in 4-2 and suicide. Anyway whilst I was doing it I noticed that at one point my stats didn't delevel according to the rule.

I'd levelled up vit a bit and thats the only stat that won't de level no matter what, all others can be deleveld to base. Anyway when i got down to 15 end (2 away from base) I carried on then after a while saw it not changing and for some reason my magic had gone to 7 (1 away from base). Any reason why it had just gone to delevelling magic?

A bit random I know but I was just wondering if there was some other rule. Then after it delevelled end again to 13 then the last point from magic.

Maybe it's based on how many points you are away from base stats? I'm not really sure how it works, I always assumed it was just the highest stat went down.

Vitality can go down.

If you've ever been soul sucked you'll see vitality, magic, and endurance slowly diminishing.

Vitality will never go down...Never. It is the only stat that won't delevel, as far as the rule, it is random and not based purly on the highest stat.

I've deleveled to base (SL 1 + Vit Inc for royal, etc.) many times. Vit never goes down. Its not random. The rule seems to be the level that goes down is the one that is furthest above the base stat for your class. So if your base stats are:

End 8
Int 15

And your current stats:

End 20
Int 20

Then End will have to go to 13 (possibly 12, since the 2 are equal...don't know what wins ties) before Int will drop.

I somewhat have this going on with a mag build.

Vit is 45, Mag is 42, End is 40. Each time I delevel, it subtracts from the END for some reason.

I can confirm there is no chance that it will not go down. EVER!

Not with the North American version anyways. Maybe if you bought the 1st version of the asian DS and didnt upgrade the software then it might work, but probably not.

yeah it might have been a glitch. Ive soul sucked a few friends and regardless of how many times i tried to soul suck past their base levels, vit would never go down. not even after ive killed them a few times after using red stone either.

Correct me if im wrong but this seems like boarder line trolling does it not? And if its not you should stop telling people what you saw because no one will believe you, and you might waste some noobs time trying to delevel it.

PS. Any noobs reading this trying to de level VIT dont waste your time it does not work. I have tried because one of my characters has a higher vit than I want.

Ok now I can confirm that this is absolutely trolling. There is no need to try and waste peoples time by giving them false information. Im here to help I always give the best advice I can and I dont lie to people who dont know how this game works well yet. Im sure I can get some back up on this as well.

i delevel'd vit it was the only stat i raised i can vouch that you can delevel vit

But since it was the only stat that you leveled up, it would be the only one that could go down. Unless the game would de-level below your base stats. Which i'm guess that it would not.

HarbingerOfChaos

I suppose it could, but in only that instance. In your case, you leveled up, or whoever leveled up, more than just Vitality. Has it happend more than just that one time? If it has, then I guess there is something different about the way you leveled your stats up, or something else.

lol your giving information you "think" is right. Well maybe you should do some homework and give information that you know is correct. Leave the information your not sure about to the people that do know what they're talking about. Like me and Decay and any other player that knows what there talking about from experience not someone who just .... thinks they saw it go down.

@Decay I think some video evidence would be nice too  as if that will ever happen

03-20-2010, 11:41 PM
More vitality means more item burden capacity. I think that's the reason why vitality will never be deleveled, as the game has no mechanism of automatically throwing away stuff when item burden goes down.

Lightning_Count-
03-21-2010, 01:02 AM
That, and also this fact:

You lose a level when soulsucked. If VITALITY never goes down and your only stat is VIT, you could go back down to your base and still have the same HP and item burden...

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't happen.

I saw vitality decrease for about 10-15 and I did the soul suck at least four times.

The game didn't glitch up four times.

I even remember saying "Damn, I thought Vitality couldn't go down. Oh, well."

okay so can we stop the attacks on each others judgement? I want people to keep in mind that the wiki's information is USER MADE, thus is prone to errors or inaccuracies. Now, with that said i would like to state my opinion, I believe along with harbingerofchaos that VITALITY stat CAN decrease BUT it must be a very very LOW chance of this happening (below or equal to 5% chance in one try) but once again this is just an assumption because we have no real accountable way to record this data IF it is indeed a statistical process instead of predetermined measures SUCH AS a stat being the farthest away from the characters base stats decreasing, or other theories onto how stats are deleved. But Yes slegan i agree that this would be much more believable if we had some video evidence. SO as it stands unless we get more information EITHER from the developers of the game or video evidence this strange occurance if true will remain unexplained for now.

I've been deleveled to base quite a few times. I've never had a single level from vit drop. Even if you are down to base (of your starting class) your vit won't go done.

For example the character I had ss'd the last two times has 48 vit. Both times all my stats were at base with vit still at 48 and I got ss'd again but no stats dropped. Clearly this isn't going to convince the people that think they've seen vit drop, but I figured it might help. Probably not tho.

I have done this many a time, over 600hours into this game half of was pvp. even i thought i saw Vit go down once or twice before, but as i mentioned Decay " it must be a very very LOW chance of this happening"

And to reiterate my main point we simply cannot know for sure, so unless we get more evidence either from the developers of the game or video evidence this strange occurance if *TRUE* will remain unexplained for now. Its easy to be so trusting decay, but like i said we simply cannot know for sure.

This is the same reason I say it wont go down exactly. I have done this about 6 times as well each time trying to lower my VIT I even soul sucked my character an extra 5 times or so each time. I have spent some time trying to find ways to get more stats like lowering my magic to 15 and only having 2 magic slots but never changing curse. So in other words I had curse on before I deleveled and even though I only had 2 magic slots I could still cast curse. However when I lowered it more down to 1 magic slot it was not possible to cast curse anymore. Im not sure why it worked out like that. Anyways I was not able to really figure anything too helpful, the NA version of DS was polished fairly well.
