I have a Royal with 60 points invested in magic. What is the best melee weapon? I'm finding Crescent Weapons perform worse than Demonbrandt. But, that weapon is a beast to handle -- very slow. I like the Uchigatana which is currently in use. However, for a weapon (crescent uchigatana +3) that is suppose to have an A in Magic stat, the damage is low.

Mine does around 380 damage with only 35 magic. But I heard Moon weapons perform better, don't ask me for a source though ;)

yh moon weapons are better till you get really high magic then crescent is better by a few points. If i were u tho id delevel magic to 50 and put those 10 points in a better place.

That's it. Nobody else has anything to offer. Well, I'm keeping my magic high. I may take it to 70. The whole point was to see how it effects the crescent weapon and magic damage.

Crescent only has an A rating in magic, which causes the damage increase to drop off pretty sharply after about 50 magic. Crescent weapons generally do a little bit more damage with high magic stats, and have the mana regeneration. Moon weapons are better for builds that don't have high magic. You'd do better with a Crescent weapon since you're going to have such a high magic stat. A Crescent Uchi/Kilij +5 can do some great damage, and they're pretty fast.

I increased my magic stat from 65 to 66 and gained only one point on my Crescent Uchigatana +3. It seems like magic users get crap for melee weapons.

This happens to all builds when they increase there main stat above 40. After 40 you start to get less bang for your buck, and after 50 even less.(good god man 65 you are luck to get 1 pt)
This is one of the main reasons the majority of the player base hangs around 120. More Blood ...I mean bang for your buck.

Yeah, if everybody got to SL 180 for PvP, it would just be Quality pre-fix with Light Weapon everywhere. 35 magic/strength/dex, and enough points left over for 40 vit/endurance? If you think cookie-cutter Mirdan Hammer/Dual Uchi's/DBS is bad, think again.
Also, 40 luck/40 magic BBS would ruin lives.
However, I am curious. I heard that the higher scaling a weapon has, the longer it takes for the soft cap to kick in, with S never capping until about 80/90. Is this true, or was somebody talking out their ass?

You need to get to +5 moon or crescent if you want to get the most from them. At 60 magic, a +5 moon uchi is doing 414 damage for me, +5 crescent is about 7 points lower. I've gone to +5 moon on: uchi, mace, scythe, mirdan and crescent axe. The pole wepaons give about 415 and the axe gives 500.

I'm sitting at 25 endurance and sometimes when I can't suck down a mana potion I will attempt to use my +5 moon guillotine axe. It doesn't have the greatest range but it hits pretty hard and has a nasty combo and knock people into 2nd chance or kills them. I'm no hardcore DS player but I've swung it on people holding up a shield and it broke their guard pretty quick.
