People who don't send friend requests for (co-oping?)

You know, those people who beat the game at level 10 and then in NG+ want to beat it with blue phantoms?

Not pointing fingers at anybody, nor am I saying it's wrong (it's probably a lot of fun!)

But are there those who feel that co-op should only be random/situational occurrence?

Maybe I have the "Samurai" mentality in this game, where you only team up if you happen to cross paths with someone*

Anyway, I know there are some who don't summon at all, or don't even care 'bout the summoning system. Not asking for their opinion since they don't summon at all.

Just asking to see if anyone holds the same position that "blue-phantoming" should not be an organized event

I know sophie-ann's gonna kill me for this thread :D
Don't worry though, we'll co-op in White Knight Chronicles soon enough http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d199/DeathKnight9/emoticons/Glomp7.gif

BTW, is it really worth buying WKC?

Well, as for me, you could say Iīm samurai minded too, if I see a blue sign, I SUMMON it, it really doesnīt matters to me who they might be or if theyīll add me, I just have this kinda promise with myself that I will NEVER let a blue phantom pass...
If they add me, fine by me, and if they donīt then I simple donīt care xD

I get people adding me and I don't mind. It's good when they message me and ask if I need help with any other levels. If I know my build isn't strong enuf, (which is 99% of the time), I take the help and get the game done. Some of the one's I've added have started a new game with me and we help each other thru all levels once we get our stones. We do my stage then theirs and I have never completed a game under level 30 b4 up until a couple days ago.

Most of the time when I am playing just to play I do it solo and it is for a number of reasons. Back when I first played I did some random blue invites but I also tried to do some organized team ups as well. If you have a friend you can play with and you can both set aside a time and work together co opping on DS can be alot of fun.

right? all this "i really like japanese culture" and "i think like a samurai"..i dont get it...in a roleplay i do, but on this forum I dont...nor does it apply to most topics..except maybe seppuku...i use that term to see if our samurai master knows it...

It's a metaphor

Samurais don't team up with anyone unless they cross paths (or belong to a contractor together). And even then, they only do it as long as they're in the same situation with the contractor.

It's the same mentality here. I've never found co-oping with strangers fun unless it's random, or as the game intended it to be. It can be done. But if the game truly wanted people to set up pre-planned co-op they would have included a clan/group system like FPSs (MMOs) do. But as I said on my first post, there's nothing wrong with setting up co-op, a lot of people love it

^That's what I already explained
If metaphors escape you then there you go

When it comes to players that have more experience it sucks playing with nooblars I find. But I didint forget how cool it was waaaay back in the day when I 1st started summoning randoms. Now I found the hunters guild and randoms are annoying  especially invaders because they all suck, the best duelists are hunters guild or Knuckle Bros chat  I love that name.

ah, the typical post...you explain yourself and say you did previously...which you didnt, not about samurai mentality which you seem to be really into...then you say something snotty..again typical....and you ignore other gripes people represent and condescend on what you choose...and samurais work with contractors??? and what century would that have happened?? And be careful here...i have a masters in history and have been to japan multiple times...hence why i threw out seppuku...your metaphor floats as well as a cement block..

Glad to see that your intent from the beginning was to troll and be passive aggressive :)

How wasn't this clear in the first post?

Samurai generally don't team up unless they belong to groups/villages or work for someone (getting paid or whatnot). Ok ok, it might be a very small percentage of them that go solo (mostly ronin samurai, but still). I explained it clearly

So before you start "OMG I'm the victim here" again, please tell me how what I quoted wasn't clear lol

it wasnt clear and i wasnt trolling (if i understand this particular e-term correctly), just reading...and id love to be aggressive because everywhere i read your posts you are passive aggresive and condescending and many, many people have told you that...you talk all noble samurai blah blah...it has nothing to do with why random summoning is "samurai"..and you impression of samurai is from movies, not history...the were a ruling military class of elite nobility in feudal Japan...they belonged to families, not towns or villages, if they were not in the family, which could be as loose a relation, they were part of another noble family and owed allegiance to their over-lord..its a class of Fuedal soceity, a caste, and they didnt wander around on their own questing and such...thats fantasy...yes they fought, yes they were beautiful in their ways but they weren't the wanderer class in demon's souls...and yes they "teamed up"...they were part of Clan, owing fealty and service, esp in times (which were most in FEUDal society) when one clan or family fought another...thats where the honor comes in, through fealty, hence Seppuku, which is written form for hari-kari..you think they killed themselves for soley for honor unto themselves?? man, i could go on...

So ronin Samurai didn't exist? And farmers didn't hire them?

Oh right, because all that is fantasy as well

Your "you're condescending" statement is pure BS. It wasn't "everyone" as you claim. As far as I know iceclimber, that "nothing" guy who appeared out of nowhere, and yourself. How is that everyone? To you, you and two other guys equals everyone? wow lol

The point of the thread wasn't the Samurai. It was the pre-planned co-oping (teaming up) that goes on in the game, for some.

The Samurai was used as a metaphor (which I explained in which context I used it)
