chunk of cloudstone

Did any of you ever get a chunk of cloudstone from a stingray?
Im trying to get the cloudstone trophy, I am in a NG+++ and still the only chunks I got are from the corpse in the 4-3 area, which I just found so I got only 2 of them.
So far, after killing many of them in the battles with the Storm King in the previous cycles theres hasnt been a single one dropped. I spent 3 hours last night farming them and all I got is 99 shards..

no, never got a chunk dropped from those stingrays, just get the 2 from each game cycle.

Yes they do drop from the rays. When I farmed it was like 1 to 50 and I had 32 luck and the LSoS.

I thought you also got one from the corpse in Leechmonger's area? I was thinking you could get 3 per playthrough without any random enemy drops (i.e. just as loot).

That's faintstone. Cloudstone are from shrine 4-x.

I gave up on Cloudstones a long time ago...
At least you can get 2 or 3 per playthrough, unlike Pure Bladestone...

Farming Mantas is the easiest thing to do in this game as long as your bow/soul ray kills in one hit (easy to achieve with mag/dex builds). I leveled my mage there from 50-165 during pure black. i got a ton of those chunks. the difficulty is to not kill them while they fly over places you cannot reach. if you have enough vit/end/skill, it's an erxtremely simple task starting from the storm king archstone. Make sure you farm the Geckos first though, if you hope for pure Darkmoon.

Like i said, you gotta make sure they land on the ground where you can reach them. Having LsoS equipped helps a lot here btw. And also Pure Black is a must. I think i got at least one chunk per 3 runs, which is roughly like ~10 min max...

Making a +10 Dark PFS might be kinda annyoing though :devil:

I have a Luck based character and all, and even in Pure black tendency those Flying rays don't drop chunks... (yes, I kill 'em when they're flying over land)

I have a couple of gargoyle bows, I got them from the same gargoyle in 3-2 at bridge near the bottom of the tower(where you get the ring of averice). I mite of been in PBWT, I don't remember.

I got mine from farming them. Raised my luck until I would average 5 drops per cycle with the LSoS (I think it was about 20 Luck). Once I got there I would get a Chunk of Cloudstone every 5 cycles or so. You have to be in Pure Black World Tendency or forget it. I found these to be the most frustrating of all the Ores to farm. It takes a long time.

I've only gotten about four cloudstone chunks from farming the burial grounds. I needed them for a 'dark' shield I was making. I ended up just playing through enough games to get the two chunks as treasure in that area enough times to make the shield. I had a worse time getting the mantas to drop chunks than I did getting a pure bladestone (got that completely unintentionally in about ten minutes of farming the BP black skeleton in 4-2 for souls). :p

Currently cross-eyed with the amount of times I have gone through 5-4. Still need 8 chunks..but, atleast I know have plenty of grass, sticky, spices, and souls to last me forever...

I hope you're not trying to get cloud-stone chunks in 5-4. Nothing in the Plague Swamp drops them. :p

Also, someone above me mentioned the Gargoyle Crossbow. At one point I seriously started doubting if this item even existed. I just cannot find one. I don't plan on using it, but I need two of them to finish my perfect collection, two of every weapon, one of every armor/clothing set and at least one of every ring. All I lack are my two Gargoyle Bows.

I must be counting the giant world for some reason...Speaking of which anyone think that the world where the Old One is..would be the giant world? I saw a huge sword there and thought "huh".(Sorry to hijack thread)

Nah, the Old one is trapped below the Nexus

World of the Giants is the DEADLIEST/EVILEST of them all*
Basically from what I've gathered and from what others have said here, the monumental(s) destroyed the archstone because that world was too unstable

It was too disastrous (there are actually images showing the giants and hordes of heroes clashing with each other while thousands of wizards watch all hell break loose)

We need that world as DLC :D

Farming the Chunks of Cloudstone is a Hell of a Job. I only got ONE from the flying Mantas. The Chunks are even harder to get, then the Pure Bladestone. I got my Trophy by farming the dead Body in 4-3 going to NG+++++++. ( i stopped counting my Playthroughs. But I got several Pure Darkmoonstones from the Geckos in 4-3.

Everyone here will disagree due to their agreed upon level cap of 120. If you will raise your Luck, you'll have a better chance at getting chunks of cloudstone. Luck doesn't improve quality. It improves opportunity. Let's say there are 20 Mantas at the Storm King Archstone. With a luck of 10, you might get 3 or 4 to drop something. With a luck of 30, and using the Large Sword of Searching, you might get 8 or 10 to drop something. Luck does have its place in the game and is a valuable stat when farming for materials.

Doesn't need to be PBWT, I got 1 with a luck of 10 my first run thru and I was either white or neutral.

On my NG++ character, I am still missing FIVE damn chunks to complete the dark shield +5. Screw this trophy.

Also I can't get the missing 2 or 3 (I forget) chunks of marrowstone to finish a fatal dagger +5 (still at +4). Farming the mosquitos and/or red bugs is just way too slow and annoying. Good thing I don't care about trophies or I'd go crazy.

I have 12 chunks that I got while farming souls.

I have four words for you: Pure Black World Tendency.

ANY time you are farming chunks/pures, you want this.

ixtilton, I got a sharp +5 after about 2 hours of farming the Red Eyes in 4-2 behind the secret passage. Whatever you do, don't try farming in 4-1. I don't know if it's even possible for chunks to drop there. I've never seen it happen.

Thanks for the info. Started doing this going after the black skelly in the secret passage way..but, Dragon Age has been distracting me lately.
