Banned Spells/Miracles:
- Death Cloud
- Acid Cloud
- Warding
- Light Weapon
- Cloak
- Anti-Magic Field
- Hidden Soul

Weapons:
- No Blessed/Crescent upgrade.
- Most weapons will be no-upgrade (with exceptions, that will be listed here with time, we are running tests.)


Dueling Rules:
- No Pre-Buff
- Start at designed position, marked with a Augite
- Bow Before Fight
- Staying for more than 3 seconds out of Combat Area = Disqualified
- No Consumables at all (Grass, Spice, Lotus, etc)
- No turpentine, black turpentine or Sticky white stuff, and throwing items (unless your npc use it)

You can definitely send me a friend request if you're interested in tournaments, I've deleted everyone last week and required everyone to to send a friend request in order to join tournaments. This way my friend's list isn't full.

However, I prefer to use the Atlus board as a way to answer questions and to send information across. Usually the tournament pages are listed on the first page of a section, and you can always PM me (or Kaijura, hawu, karkarov) your questions.

Just one question; what happened to having tiers in correlation to the amount of grass accessible to them?

Well I think our plan is to make all NPCs in the same tier. The only way I see that being possible is to choose which weapons can be upgraded and which ones can not. I thought it would be a good idea to wait for you to come back before we decided which weapons to do that do(although we came up with quite a few ideas). Also Doran will not be using NR as its completely OP instead we were planning on giving him some other weapon such as a claymore. There is no doubt we have some testing to do before we make all of these decisions. I think if we can successfully do this and balance everything out this will be an extremely fun tournament to take part in as well as watch. Also we need to be very adamant about disqualifying cheaters. That's one reason we will need to do some testing. IMO the JP NPC tournament seemed nearly perfect. The only problem I had with it was Ostrava using clever rats ring. Sense were using cling and avarice that will not be a problem.

We have done some tests and we decided it will be a Moon bastard sword plus 3 for doran. Its range seems identical

I have thought about that before the only problem is someone could very easily just have both a plus 3 and a plus 5 on them. Whoever is in the game with kark while he is recording they should use their best judgment to see if there cheating. Considering the amount of testing we will be doing in the next while it will be easy to see if they are OP or not so im not too worried about it. Im hoping people will just play by the rules and not force us to DQ them though.

Yeah, we have been testing damage between different weapons. It will be easy to discern between a +0 or +3 or +5's damage, especially from Doran type.

We will do our best to make sure no weapons are that weak. When it comes to hitting someone 20 times over the span of 10 minutes I also hate watching them eat 1 new moon grass and be back to full health lol. If a pick axe is really that weak we will end up allowing it to be upgraded until its on par with the other weapons in the tournament.

Yes exactly also your weapon will be faster and have the lock combo. So basically if all goes well every build will be perfectly viable, some may be a little better but not nearly enough to basically guarantee victory. The only curve ball i think were not 100% sure how it will work out would be sage freke because were banning some spells and were not toally sure yet if they need to be banned, although it seems like they do. Also Yuria I believe were allowing all of her spells and maybe we might need to ban some. One thing that concerned me is a build like mine(penetrator) or yours with the pick axe is that its all we have and we deal small amounts of damage(which is good because there is no grass), however Yurias fire storm may kill some people in 1 hit. Just throwing that out there let me know what you guys think.

i dont think it will 1 hit kill, bc its CLing+averice, no monk collar, no kris blade.. but it still make a good dmg... but i dont think yurias build should focus on firestorm.. easily avoidable.. on almost any circumstance

Glad to see feedback has been good so far. The reason primarily for no grass is like Slegan said but also because we all wanted longer fights. If a person needs 10-15 hits to kill their opponent then allowing grass would turn a long fight into a 3 part youtube video called "Hunter's Guild Roleplay Tournament 1 Fight 5 Slegan Vs. Maly part 3!!!" I like editing the vids and all but I don't like it THAT much.

Though.. even with that.. there's no way to tell if they'd use your weapon or not.. Or.. the hosts could even possible prescribe weapons that may not directly relate to the NPC, but just enough to act in the same manner.

we are running tests, with average PvP builds, with main stat around 50, testing and take notes of dmg... so if anyone use another weapon, we can tell... we will ask stats, test dmg.. etc.. this will be no problem, i am sure of it

its hard to give weapons, there are npcs with unique weapons, so.. even the host given than.. it will not be 100% sure of no-cheating...

like, BP penetrator, you can say.. huh, give him a knight sword.. but its not going to happen, bc one of the points in penetrator is the range, and obviously the pierce bonus dmg.. so it will not fit the Role of the npc..

I see, but you still may wanna cap it at like 2 or 3 people using the same NPC, I can see if maybe everyone was gonna say "oh I wanna be Doran!" you don't wanna have 5 elimination rounds just to see who gets to be him.... :/

thats why we changed Doran's Northern Regalia to Moon Bastard Sword +3,

we can do this with this BP too... getting a great axe, same attack sets, range is ok too i think...

And it will be completely fair im pretty sure. The only ones that we should not have use quality would be people with weapons that deal magic dmg or unique weapons

Quality is probably the best pick for this yeah. It will provide the easiest to control damage with a fairly easy to figure line of upgrading.

I mentioned a little after the postponement yesterday that the tournament may be pushed back even further in order for Karkarov to record some quality videos. Since the Administration is still in the process of testing, yesterday's tournament no longer exists.

Karkarov can post the recording of the failed tournament 3, in order illustrate why Slegan, Hawuvajo and Kaijura- are testing the weapon selection, and enforcing rigid guidelines. However, I will continue to keep people updated, PM'd and have announced the cancellation on PSN.

I think Doran guy should be looked better holding Demonbrand than other kind of sword. How about Doran guy using Demonbrand with limited character tendency (e.g. neutral)? Or even go some black CT for some damage reduction to be comparable to other weapons. Could you mention of how much damage is allowable for holding Demonbrand?

How about Doran guy using NR or Demonbrand with limited character tendency (e.g. neutral)?

Im not sure how well that would work. It seems like it could slow things down a lot though. Tournaments always take longer than everyone wants as is.

Anyways from the tests we have done so far this is what I have come up with.

First of all the hiltless with no upgrades already has a B added param in dex. So there is no way it needs to be upgraded. The dual uchi BP should use hiltless in right and sharp uchi plus 1 in left.

If your NPC uses a pick axe it should be plus 3 quality.
Most other weapons will need to be plus 2 quality I believe.
Shotel will more than likely be plus 4.
Makoto should probably be plus 3or higher... I know thats high but the life drain is BRUTAL with no grass.

Also we will need to test some unique weapons. Hopefully wont take that long. Anyways if u guys still want to test some of the ones I have posted here let me know or if u see any problems with it.

you should also consider other equipment when determining weapon dmg.

Like patches's spear should be weaker cause he gets regen even if it is just 1hp/sec

Also the naked NPCs should probably get slightly more dmging weapons to offset minimal def.

side note: every NPC listed there are "named" npc's, even the MC BP which i dont have the name is in the "named" npc class

Yeah those three dudes in 1-4 are the three knights of Boletaria. Namely Metas the Penetrator, Alfred the Tower Knight, and Oolan who is apparently a chief of some weird tribe. The going theory is their demon forms are the bosses of world 1, oolan being Phalanx. The other two are pretty obvious....

the 3-1 boss, is the ex-queen of the tower... she was the commander of this prison, when demon's took her place, she become fool's idol, and the old monk is her husband.. he slave black phantoms with the collar...

the assassin must be some high class guard of the tower.. dont know

i think if you chose to be an NPC like Yuria, that doesnt have any attacks other than firestorm and fireball that you should be able to use (only) spices becaucse a simple dodge roll can avoid a fireball and thats 20MP already gone...

(2 ignites is enough to kill almost every npc build... only some heavily armored like biorr, doran wouldn't die in 2 ignites

short sword, for tournament i think you can use a quality short sword +2
scirvir uses, Firespray, Fireball, Ignite and Regeneration(miracle)

yes candoa, you must not only dress, but you are restricted to your NPC itens

example: if you choose Biorr
you must use Brushwood Set, a Great Sword and a Heavy Crossbow

Like a Garl Vinland with a clever rats ring or a Freke with a ring of magical sharpness. We don't want 1-2 hit kills. Also you have to obey your NPC as I recall. Most people on this forum are level headed and dont complain all the time. Im assuming your complaints came from people you messaged on youtube like you messaged me Slegan87. I think most people on this forum understand that were all trying to make this a different kind of tournament and that were doing our best to make it fair. Karkarov has hosted a few tournaments himself already and Midipour also hosted a few. So im sure most people trust them and dont mind obeying there rules.

Its possible some people will get away with using something maybe plus 1 higher than we allow but anything maxed out will be very very easy to detect.

Thats one of the pending of tests to run yet.. but i think it will be fine +3 (not sure)

head: nothing
armor: Black Leather
arms: Chain arms
legs: Chain set (hard leather)
and for left hand, you must be using an Iron Knuckle (no need to actually attack with it, you can use only 2H your pole, but still have to equip it)

- exact range of NR
- Physical + Magical Dmg
- Making more competitive the duels.. (NR could end any NPC in 3-4 hits... while using the moon bastard sword +3, your dmg will be high, but not as high as the NR ^^)

After testing I would suggest the Uchi be a plus 2 quality. That will be the most likely build to win the tournament. Come to think of it I might even suggest it be a plus 1 because of how dangerous it is with shove combo. What do you guys think?

Yes you can push with Spear's, Knuckles and Short strait swords. Well those are the ones I have done it with. The reason I think the left hand uchi should be lower is because its exclusively whats dealing damage with the shove combo. From my experience the only difference with different weapons for the shove combo is the set up, once you get the combo going its the same old trick and it works just as well. Also I dont believe there is a NPC that uses an uchi in left and a different style in right so I dont think we will run into that problem. Anyways my suggestion is plus 1 quality for left hand uchi I hope everyone can understand where im coming from and agree with it.

When it comes to this tournament I hope everyone who plays understands that even though I tested these weapons for damage I still have not tested them in real competitive play(such as a tournament) so there will be a good chance some of them will need to be changed if we have another.

It's quite simple. Everyone will always be a phantom. Chances are, they are most likely going to want to use cling ring since it's a significant boost.

Wearing the Ring of Avarice shows the spectators that the users aren't using another ring like Friend, Foe's, or Clever Rat's. It's better that it's even for everyone rather than one person had an "advantage" in the eyes of another. The only NPC that should be having a glow, I believe is Ostrava due to the equip.

In the earlier posts of this thread or the PVP tournament thread, you'll read the details to why it was decided that there would be no optional ring.

Besides, to be honest certain rings like Eternal Warriors are really insignificant in certain cases. Saving .6 seconds of stamina regeneration from 0 to 100% might not really make it or break it.

no way, sry :~

the NR is Magical+Physical dmg, so it MUST be a weapon with magical and physical dmg... moon bastard sword is the unique weapon with same range, and same set of attacks...

all NPC will do almost same amount of dmg, so you dont need to worry about your dmg, your dmg will be one of the highest, even without high magic stat ^^

in the first match, or depending on how much players have registered will be the "pre-matches" where ppl that have choose same NPC's will fight to see who will be joining the tournament as this NPC.. like.. we have 2 Garl, and 2 Dual katana BP already

On this part though personally i dont think the bramd should be upgraded at all (even though only the plague resistance is increased) due to the fact that if it came to Garl vs. Mephistopholes it'd be an advantage against the baby's nail. Not saying it already wouldnt help but upgrading it would only increase the advantage against it perhaps? Or maybe im wrong?

For some people it might just not show online to other players. Like ive seen a few people and every single time I saw them whenevr they cast warding i never saw it for some reason.

Pretty sure the DSS gives you a magic defense aura. Try it with a normal non upgraded generic shield.

I just tested it. Phosphorescent pole's magic regen is blocking the ponytail from showing. I even tried putting the pole on first, then equipping the ring to see if the most recent one took over. No. Magic regen trumps all other animations. If I'm rydell, the only buff you'll see is that blue haze from the magic regen.

Final winner was Authentic_Demon: Dual Uchi BP from 4-2, runner up was: Whiteraven_XXVI: Ostrava Of Boletaria, and third Place was 1-4 Scraping Spear BP of whom i forget the name (sorry!!!) the matches took place in 3-1 and a few (matches in 4-1). Thank you karkarov for hosting and taking 5 hours out of your day to provide service for the atlus forums community! :D

started 7:50 pm est ended at 10:40 pm est i dont remember how many participated probably 13. there were 2 garls, 2 dual uchi bps, 2 rydells, and 2 ostravas, one was the 1-4 scraping spear bp, and 1 yurt. Final winner was Authentic_Demon: Dual Uchi BP from 4-2, runner up was: Whiteraven_XXVI: Ostrava Of Boletaria, and third Place was 1-4 Scraping Spear BP of whom i forget the name (sorry!!!) the matches took place in 3-1 and a few (matches in 4-1). Thank you karkarov for hosting and taking 5 hours out of your day to provide service for the atlus forums community! :D

Don't forget that Hawuvajo guy there ;p! In total there were 14 participants to be exact and unfortunately one person (Frartel) who no matter what we tried we could not get a connection with. Hopefully we will come up with something and get you in later events man :/

Truth be told I was quite looking forward to going against the Dual Katana BP in the tournament. I'm just happy authentic let me duel him after the matches were over. He is a shoving monster. Lol. He clearly would have owned me if I hadn't been able to brake his weapon in time. It was an awesome match. My hat off to you Authentic. Yes they will be in the vid. If it makes you feel better Raven was beaten incredibly badly at the end. So badly he demanded a rematch later in fact. I will probably post the rematches too but under a different name, like Raven VS Authentic Grudge Match! or something.

i don't believe it was unfair, I mean I guess they do have that certain advantage as a dual katana bp but you guys did awesome job with restrictions and whatnot to make this as fair as possible and I do believe that with the right amount of skill that the DKBP could be beaten haha

I didn't think it was unfair. I might be biased however since the scraping spear is by far the only real advantage against any katana user there is besides out classing them. The skill however of being able to combo a push slice slice push and so on is what makes it so lethal. But then again it requires just that, a skilled person like authentic. I would have loved for you guys to see our match. It was brutal. I lucked out enough to brake his darn katanas before he was able to unleash his flurry of attacks.

Update:

The first vid is being cut as I type. Baring some kind of fluke screw up it will be getting uploaded to youtube within 30 minutes. The first vid contains all the prelim matches. For the record it also is comprised of 24 different sound clips and BGM's, 14 custom made images, and a bunch of little special effects I am rather proud of. Considering it is only about 7 minutes long thats alot crammed in there.

In short I hope you guys like what I did with it. I am going to say I think it is probably the neatest vid I have ever done. So I will leave it to you guys to spam it on all the forums you know that relate to Demon's Souls and get me thousands of hits. K?
