Second Chance

Ive been playin a while, but this is the first time ive gotten Second Chance, yet i cant cast it. Ive removed all parameters that i know of..

you need 100 mp to cast it. i think thats 16 intelligence.

yup got over a 100. i read that u have to take protection and recov items off, so i took everything off and it still wouldnt cast. I just restarted game *to see if itll work*. Still nothing*

You need talisman of god/beasts.

Ensure you have no spells active? If you reloaded your game tho it would reset everything so you should be able to cast second chance.

Is second chance grayed out in your spell selector? Is there any way you could take a screenshot of your setup?

I successfully use second chance with blessed weapons and adjudicator shield equipped all of the time.

Get your toon naked, no weapons, no spells/miracles and then try it. If successful, add back items one at a time to see which causes problem.

Even though Second Chance is a miracle you can't have some other status type spell already running if you want to cast it. I mean you can't cast a water veil at Dragon God and expect to cast Second Chance before the veil wears off. Those spells & miracles are either one or the other, meaning just one active at a time.

Also, when I first started using Second Chance I couldn't always tell that it was in fact active. So sometimes I would try to recast it just to see my guy doing the talisman of beasts "shake" because the spell really was on... I just couldn't tell that it was. ;-) Hope this helps.

I've never used it but thought about it because I'm in NG+ and getting attacked by phantoms more than I was before. Do you HAVE to have ToB? If so, how come it's available in first run through of the game? I have never gone pure black, (except Valentine's promo), and not going to get if I can't use my other talisman.

A Talisman is required for the use of any miracle but it does not have to be a ToB.

Let's review...

1st: Check your stats. You will need(minimum) 15 Int. and 16 Faith. The 15 Int gives you the magic points to cast and the 16 faith gives you the 2 miracle slots so you can remember (use) the miracle (we'll get to that later).

2nd: You must have the Talisman of God (Talisman of Beasts will work..but we're talking minimums here) and then obviously have it equipped (doesn't matter which hand).

3rd: You must free Saint Urbain in 4 2 in order for him to appear in the Nexus.

4th: You have to beat Old Hero (4 2 Boss) for Hero Demon's Soul.

5th: If you do steps 3&4 in that order, after defeating Old Hero, return to Nexus and talk to Saint Urbain. There are 2 steps to this...LEARNING and REMEMBERING. First, learn the miracle. It should now be available since you have Hero Demon's Soul. Then select Remember and choose Second Chance. If you have anything else memorized...deselect so you have both miracle slots open or available as Second Chance requires two miracle slots...hence 16 faith.

6th: Any defensive miracle or spell cast will only allow 1 at a time to be cast. For example...Cloak, Warding, Water Veil, Second Chance...only 1..so choose according to your situation. For me, I almost always use Second Chance. Now, make sure your magic is full (eat spice), you followed step 2 and cast it.
