I like the direction they took with the graphics on this one. I also liked the graphics of Metal Saga DS, but I didn't care for how tanks and vehicles were jagged polygon builds - really clashed with the sprites.

I've never played any of the other games in this series, but between the screenshots and the garbled english translation, this looks like it could be quite interesting.
I like the idea of the 'wasteland' setting, and the sprites looks pretty good, so I'll most likely keep an eye on this thread for more information :)

I'd definitely get this. I was hoping Hagane no Kisetsu would get localized, but it looks like they passed on it. I imported it and it was pretty good, and I'd get this one if they localized it.

There isn't anything on the main website about it (besides the box cover). I'm guessing it's part of the story, but with most Metal Max games, the story is a little open and it's your job to develop it.

The only thing about the plot that i think i have figured out so far is that Red Wolf from the Metal Max 1 game (and MM Returns for SFC) is the same red wolf that has his memory lost in the Metal Max 3 game. The thing is: How the hell did someone so powerful (if you have played MMR fantranslation by AeonGenesis you will know) lose his memory and was found dead, to be revived by doctor mince?


Thats the weird thing about the plot of MM3 that makes me want to play it so bad. (apart from the awesomoe enemies, the cool, old school 2D graphics and the 3D tanks)

I'd love to see this, having adored Metal Max 2 and Metal Saga.

It's a shame that Metal Saga seems to have had a pretty poor reception over here, but I would have thought that MM3 would have a much better chance at success. Being on the DS should help (16-bit RPGs were hardly a recipe for success on the PS2, but seem to go down well on the DS), and it also sounds like it's a much more polished game all-round, without the technical hiccups that plagued Saga, and which were no doubt responsible in part for the mixed reception.

^I agree with your take there. While I supported the localization and release of Metal Saga, and did personally enjoy it, it did have a few factors working against it. At the time, I did wonder if the look and feel of the DS Metal Saga would have been a more logical choice for release here.

Metal Max 3 looks like a much more attractive package than did the PS2 Metal Saga. I really wish anyone would roll the dice and pick it up.

That's fairly accurate, this game is way too new for the serious translators to even take a look at. I think the more ambitious groups are still working their way through quirky Super Famicon titles.

and wow, is it amazing. i dropped pokemon when i got it and i've been playing it non-stop since a few days ago, and i would definitely buy it again day one if it came out in glorious english. the first ds one wasn't so great but the developers went overboard fixing their previous mistakes with this one. it's seriously awesome and it's the only game i'm looking forward to, especially now that zettai zetsumei toshi 4 was canceled =/

i hope the reason there's been no news about it is because atlus has been working furiously on it! but uh...who knows. anyway, here's to hoping more than ever!

Yeah, I played it a ton when it first came out. It's one of the few RPGs in the past 5 or 6 years that gripped me from start to... well, to the point that I stopped playing (around 55 hours). It is phenomenal, and it's even better if you understand the dialogue... it's a non-linear game, so it's not so simple as finding the dungeon, defeating the boss, going to the next town, going to the next dungeon, etc.

I think the chances of MM3 and MM2:Reloaded are equal. Both offer the same experience, and both are relatively unknown in the Western market. I bet there's more than a few people that would say, "Oh man, a more polished version of Metal Saga? Sweet!", but then continue on to complain about how it wasn't made for PS3.
