I still admit it's too hard and it makes it not so fun at times (25+- floor dungeon with a trap every other step and a hard boss fight is not fun)

Sorry, but that's my opinion
Some enemies and traps make this game too annoying at times (and floor designs that make you go over traps to get to the next floor are horrible)

Your opinion does not offend me, no need to apologize.
That said Shiren 3 certainly one of the easiest (overall) roguelikes I've played. I'm mostly bummed about some of the boss battles being more like puzzle solving than straight-up fights.
Maybe you should try Chocobo's Dungeon. It's a fine roguelike, don't let the childish overtones convince you otherwise.

Well, it would be pointless to put traps where people aren't going to walk.

Putting traps in a big room is okay
putting a trap that makes your equipment weaker in a hallway isn't

Uhm, what is the point of all of the game's methods of trap removal (wands and scrolls) and digging tools (pick-axe and digging wands) if it was just that simple to avoid?
Traps never start in a hallway but can be LAID there by a few beasties or placed after reading a Scroll of Traps (which lays traps all over the dungeon and you'd best swing your sword ahead of you every step if you don't want to get screwed).

The game can be frustrating to those who are not experienced. But there is a way and a strategy to deal with any situation including the ones you mentioned.
The whole point of rogue likes is to play them over and over and learn from your mistakes each time. And if the dungeon is getting too hard, you can use an escape scroll. Presto, now you can try the dungeon again, with the aid of all the experience and items you got.
Most important, don't hesitate to ask others for strategies in dealing with obstacles you are having trouble with

Yes, it is. You gotta stop being so materialistic and just go with the flow. Everything is expendable in a roguelike.

Exactly. Basically you have to accept that it's not your typical RPG system.

I accepted it hence why I beat it today
Though I still think Baroque was better

Haha, they seriously had "fushigino dungeon" on the western cover?
Your opinion sucks, btw.

This does go to prove at least, that there are many RPGers, that even if they don't really like the game need to follow it through to the end of the story and simply ignore all of the cool post clear features (as I stated in another thread, much like those who rent the movie DVD and then return it without ever checking out the deleted scenes or other DVD extras).

I will say that I love the not losing levels and/or items (easy) every time you die. Thank you to the person who implemented this. It's been a long time in the coming.
On the flip side, it does seem to be balanced for having good items when you go into dungeons so when I've been wiped, I've had to grind to get stuff back to par :(

I'm having a bit of problems with this game too. Mine is primarily that I can't find a stable source of food outside the dungeon. Is there any dependable way for me to aquire riceballs? I have tons of money but can't spend it on anything.

Stores and portal dungeon. Store inventories seem to be randomly generated everytime you exit a dungeon.
Don't worry, soon enough you'll have riceballs coming out the wazoo. that just sounds wrong

Yes it's a hard game but I've never been stuck for too long so far. I think I can beat it eventually.
Action/Adventure games, on the other hand, drive me nuts and there are several I probably won't be able to beat, like Twilight Princess.
