Like most fans of Nocturne, I got excited when I learned you could fight good ol' Hitoshura in DDS1. That excitement turned into a new definition of pain & suffering when he killed me in a single turn.
I eventually overcame him using the "RedStar" strategy, but I'm curious to know how many others beat the half demon and how they did it?

Yeah it was awesome how he stopped dead any intelligent conversation happening in this thread.
Can you not tell most people who don't post just don't want to talk to you.

Somehow, deep in my bones, I knew that posting here would draw dear Sayckeone acidic pen.... but, meh...
Question still stands. Did you beat the Demi-fiend? If you did, how? If you don't care, feel free to dance about under vaguely (or openly) communist avatars or just sit and spin. Fine by me either way.

I died on the Demi Fiend a few times but I am hoping that I will kill him eventually. It is a fun yet sometimes frustrating fight :P

I did it the easy way - dodge Gaea Rage with Null Sleep, then use -kaja and -kunda spells until his pixie runs out of MP. They won't use Recarmdora if they have -kaja or -kunda effects on them, and pixie won't be ablet to use Mediarahan when Hitoshura drops below 9000 HP.

I tried him, lost about 15 times, looked up the strat, lost about 15 more times, till I finally got lucky and beat him. Only reason I didnt beat him sooner than that was I could never get lucky long enough on the null sleep strats. Welp, replayed the game 6 months later, took him on again, lost 25 times, never got him down and never went back =p. What sucks is I wanted him dead for the clear save to dds 2. Oh well.

It's easier for Serph to fall asleep if you keep his luck as low as possible. That's one of the most important things. That, the skill setup, and use Cielo as he is weak vs. status ailments.

I also used the RedStar strategy, though it still took a few times of me dying for it to work. I was already level 99 at that point and had levelled Serph's luck up, so there was no way I wanted to try the sleep strategy. ^_^

The real trick to beating him is using Cielo. Basically you *WANT* him to be hit with Dorumina, giving Hitoshura an extra flashing press turn that he'll almost always use to cast Gaea's Rage. As long as Gaea's Rage is used the same turn as Dorumina you should always be able to survive it.
The best way to go about actually beating him though is to lock his partners into casting Dekunda and Dekaja every turn and keeping yourself alive until Pixie runs out of MP.
Though I've only defeated him once, I have a feeling other strategies exist for defeating Hitoshura. For instance, in the Japanese version "Null Sleep," is called "Avoid Sleeper," and the only skills that seem to illicit a casting of Gaea's Rage are the "Destroyer" skill set.

I also used the Red Star plan and here was my skill list:
Serph: Ragnarok, Salvation, Last Word, Deblitate, Phys Resist, Death Resist, Null Critical, and Null Sleep
Gale: Last Word, Salvation, Dekunda, Debilitate, Phys Resist, Death Resist, Null Critical, and Null Sleep
Cielo: Medigolian, Salvation, Sakukuja, Dekunda, Phys Resist, Death Resist, Null Critical, and Null Sleep
Took me around 40 mintues to drain the Pixies MP but it was so worth it.
Also everyone was at level 99 with 99 for every stat (Thank goodness for those noise farming points)

I think I broke a controller on this fight. (damn) But I beat him with that RedStar formation.

I went in with
All--Mediarama, Close Call, Null Sleep, Phys Resist, Crictical Resist
Serph--Sukukaja, Teradyne, Earth Boost, Earth Amp
Heat--Ragnarok, Debilitate
Cielo--Teradyne, Earth Boost, Earth Amp.
Fill in the rest as you like.
It took a lot of luck of course--this fight requires a lot of luck by its very nature. But eventually, this worked. Serph opened with Sukukaja every round--this gave a slight chance to get an enemy missing, decreased the chance of and ally missing, and forced one of the Demi-Fiend's allies to Dekaja each round. Heat followed with Ragnarok--dealing decent damage, boosting the others' damage, and forcing a dekunda as well--or Debilitate. Cielo would primarily be on healing duty, throwing in a Teradyne once in a while. Just outlasted him.

I just beat the Demi Fiend for the first time! Wow it took me over 50 minutes to do it because of a lot of reviving / curing / healing but am so happy to of finally done it. $$$ Next stop Satan hehe ;)
I did not use Red Star strategy it was just me using Ragnarok as much as possible along with power charge.
Party was :
Serph - Ragnarok, Power Charge, Phys Resist, Salvation, Death Resist, Fire Resist, Null Sleep and Null Critical.
Heat - Ragnarok, Ice Resist, Power Charge, Salvation, Death Resist, Null Critical and Null Sleep
Cielo - Last Word, Recarmdra, Dekunda, Salvation, Death Resist, Phys Resist, Null Critical and Null Sleep.
Difficult but very fun :)

i think demi fiend (hitoshura) in DDS 1 is the hardest boss in the RPG game I've ever played if you do not use walkthrough, it'll be frustrating..^^

Ooh, thanks.
I decided to try to beat the Demi-Fiend using this set-up because I got bored using the Red Star strategy 10 times. Anyhoo, on my first attempt, I won.. Took about 40-50 minutes to beat him.
The only thing I did different was that I used Argilla instead of Heat since his stats weren't all that great. Her skills were: Celestial Ray, Mind Charge, Salvation, Force/Death/Phys Resist, Null Critical/Sleep.
Celestial Ray+Mind Charge probably weren't necessary since I used it 5 or 6 times during the fight. However, it helps a bit when the Demi-Fiend is about to use Gaea Rage and Argilla isn't asleep.

I didn't finish him, I only tried for fun. What I don't get though is why people say to get Null sleep and then say that YOU MUST get hit with the Dormina?! I mean what's up with that ? If you want sleep to work, don't get Null sleep ?!
Null Sleep doesn't work like the other null's. It makes the character impervious to most everything while sleeping. It's a must for surviving Gaea's rage.

I only beat him once, and I pray I never have to again. I just wish I'd made a video of it...
I used the Red Star strategy & recommended skill set, but with one key difference because I can be an ass when it comes to bosses like this. After my 30th (seriously...) attempt I got frustrated, but simultaneously lucky. I had a calculator to keep track of his HP and knowing full well that he was only a scant 110 from defeat, I reverted Serph and finished him with a bullet to the face. Most rewarding victory ever.

Eh, if you think the people are idiots here, go to the steam forums.
I1m not ashamed to admit I belong here, much like how I AM deathly ashamed of being a steam user.
I did unlock him and I wanted to try fighting him, but I got gung-ho with my medium-high level attacks, I'm in a dungeon that is annoying to navigate without mp to heal to fight him :-P...

Many years later, I have finally slain Hito.
After two days of pain, I broke down and used Red Star. First try, L94/92/92.
It's a cinch when you're used to evading six Gaea Rages.

Yes, I beat him. ^o^ On... sixth to eighth try or so (not all were at max level, by the way); I don't really remember how many times I tried, but it wasn't too many. I followed the Red Star strategy in general, with this setup:
Gale:
Last Word
Celestial Ray
Salvation
Dekunda
Null Critical
Resist Physical
Resist Death
Null Sleep
Argilla:
Last Word
Debilitate
Dekunda
Salvation
Null Critical
Resist Physical
Resist Death
Null Sleep
Serph:
Last Word
Celestial Ray
Sukukaja
Salvation
Null Critical
Resist Physical
Resist Death
Null Sleep
In that order, I might add. Serph had max Magic and Vitality, so I was keeping him as a character "most likely to survive a Non-Gaea Rage round" in order to heal the others when Gale couldn't. With the first pair of Hitoshura's demons, I had Gale do healing, Argilla use Dekunda, and Serph use Celestial Ray (taking advantage of his powerful magic for that part of the battle...), with a setup that allowed me to twist the order around a bit depending on who was Muted or whatever. Two extra Last Words for Girimehkala so I could finish him in the same turn as Cu Chulainn went along with that. Everyone was Level 99 (I got a lot of Vital Noises from grinding in the Samsara Waterways, which helped), so while it was still tough, my characters died pretty infrequently, mostly right around the single Gaea Rage I had to endure. Then I got to Hitoshura's second set of Summons, got them locked into Dekunda/Dekaja after a few turns recovering from the Gaea Rage, and though there were a few places I was in trouble, I got lucky and managed to recover, while often getting to attack when I wasn't healing; Pass with Gale, do Debilitate (better than any single skill) with Argilla and Sukukaja with Serph (Evade Up = <3), and then use the remaining half-turn for a Last Word so that even if it missed, I wouldn't lose out on the turns (dead useful). And if I wasn't attacking, I could usually heal right away with Gale anyway. Once Pixie's MP was gone and the enemy team was fully Debilitated, I did Last Word with Gale and Argilla for about 950-1000 damage per round while continuing to lock Arabhaki down with Sukukaja. My skillset may not, on reflection, have been *quite* perfect, or maybe the order wasn't, but hey, I won with it. ^^
By the way, for anyone who wants to use this skillset, I suggest grinding for MP Noises, too. They're easy to get from the Isis enemies in Sahasrara (less commonly in the Samsara Waterways, but outside the 2nd Large Karma terminal in the hall right before where you fight Fly Beelzebub you can grind for both MP and Vital Noises, which is seriously nice; just use Death Flies (if you have it) and Cocytus (Boosted/Amped) against the respective enemies), and the MP Noises are very good to get since you'll probably burn quite a lot of MP in this fight. Don't be *too* stingy with the Soma's, either; don't wait until you're unable to use any skills to use one, just use it when you don't need to recover from ailments and you're in the red (or about to be) on someone's MP. You never know when you'll have another good opportunity, and having a lot of MP to start with (over 700, preferably over 900) will at least give you more chances to recover properly, and need to use fewer turns to heal. I only needed three or four Soma's, personally. And it's not like there's going to be any other enemy you need them against if you've gotten this far to start with.
Now for DDS2.

everyone here apparently knows what "Demi-fiend" is..I'm going to look it up -after- I write this..because I'm losing all hope in people I provide for first.
But I guess Demi-fiend isn't Beelzebub(human or demon form). Theres more than one unlockable/secret boss?
Edit: It seems like the fight against Brachioraidos in the extra summoners cave map towards the last two trials in Final Fantasy IV Advance, not the new DS version, but the GBA version with trials, extra story?, and new weapons. The trick there was just to revive faster than he Globe99's the whole party one by one.
There are a bunch of optional bosses in DDS1. Demi-fiend is only fightable on a New Game+, though.

Edit: a bunch of sub-bosses, like a lot? like twenty? or like five...?
I also wanted to ask..about Raksahsa..I asked a moderator by PM..so this should be ok. Its just this demon...it appears next to Sera when she's meeting the endboss of DDS1 in a cutscene in DDS1 if that makes it any easier to know which demon. I asked about this on another forum if there was a reason this enemy was so weak...but all they did was identify the demon by name cause I said I was still looking it up. So Raksahsa or Rakshasa..cause there's two spellings floating around on the net and between Tensei's demon game iterations..why is he so weak? I remember him being very weak compared to all other demons..susceptibility to different elemental/status castings was probably programmed specific for that demon like any other..maybe he just had lower health I don't have the game right now to be more specific. The other forum just identified the demon without saying anything like: "Yeah the creators probably made it that way to..."..nothing.
