Time to lock in your vote. What do you think is the best demons/persona/summons from the SMT multiverse?

It can be for any reason, be it sheer raw power, cool looks, killer versatility or personal taste.

And for those with a firm grasp of the mythology and lore of the games, what do you think is the best and worst arcana's of the 22 in the game(s)?

:seesaw:

(Footnote- I am collecting people's opinions for a project I am working on, so any help giving me feedback means directly having an effect on my work, and so the more you give me, the more the finished product will likely be fun to play by you!)

Abel (http://www.atlus.com/forum/showpost.php?p=152948&postcount=61). No really, Abel. Did I mention Abel?
But seriously, Abel rocks your socks off. The color, the design, the symbolism (a lone knight, removed from service, with part of his cape torn), his mask (especially), I'm all crazy about him! He's a Special-A Persona in Trinity Soul, which means it will kick anyone's ass. He even thought and pwned a whole group of 8-9 Personas all at once. He can move and fight even while his owner is being penetrated by another Persona's tentacles (that try to steal someone's consciousness and Persona). The worst they can do is immobilize him for a little while (he doesn't even begin to be reversed), while others are completely taken and absorbed. It also seems to have a mind and will of his own, in the best interests of his owner, and can be summoned quite easily while others find it hard to summon or even control theirs.

His special powers include the ability to dispel (destroy) any Persona with one single slash of his sword or (slash-like) energy wave (without killing the owner, though, as is usual for a Persona that's obliterated), fast regeneration, energy spikes, seemingly infinite power and indestructibility.
Oh yeah, and he seems to be able to absorb/duplicate other Personas' power, adapting it to his own style, without killing the owners (or the Personas in question).

Come to think about it, all Personas in Trinity Soul are marvelous. Ever since playing Persona 3, even if I didn't know about the SMT universe before, the Personas seemed lame and badly designed. Naturally, when I found out they were just re-used models of monsters from previous games, I was disappointed. I mean, seriously, how can a giant cow (Nandi) be your Persona? And it shakes it's ass when casting a spell? Bleah!

But Trinity Soul goes in the right direction, IMO. Personas that are fresh, that have no name (mentioned in the anime) and that aren't based on mythology (just think, what would Orpheus's Persona be when he lived? and what Persona did that Persona have? and what if you're the first human on Earth? Personas should not be based on mythology and instead should be unique, based on the characters personality alone).

thank you Cloud. Though most of the Persona's I am looking to put into this project is from the games themselves, if there is a way to add Abel, I am certain it will happen.

Just an fyi I am still working on this so anyone who hasn't chimed in with their vote/opinion, feel free to do so. I check this regularly. :)

There are a vast number of demons in "SMT" that meet the criteria to be considered a top demon. My top demons are based on the way I played "Nocturne" and "Persona". They are as follows: Metatron,Beezlebub (True form), White Rider, Red Rider, Black Rider, Pale Rider, The Harlot, Daisoujou, Trumpeteer, Ongyo-ki, ("Nocturne versions). There are others that I could write about but these are the ones that standout and posse the greatest abilities. The next set of demons are from my playthrough of "Persona 3" (as brief as it was) they are as follows: Thanatos, Masakados, Messiah, Metatron, Sandaphalon, Ceaser (2nd form,*[I know we as "players" couldn't play as him, but his apparance was sick!!], the same for Nyx Avatar whose apparance was even sicker,(when I first got "Persona 3" I thought she?? was playable from seeing her?? in the back of the art book w/game,*hah not a chance!!). It's really not alot of demons from "Persona 3" that really demonstrated a level of power that would put them at the top!!

thank you Nocturne. Your input is greatly appreciated, for this and your contributions tot he other thread.

I am still hoping others will chime in and offer their own opinions, as this project is still very much alive and growing. :)

Undine, because it's sexy.

And Tam Lin, he's cool.

This is sort of a no brainer.

The standouts are as follows....

Lucifer, Satan, Metatron, Pale Rider/White Rider, Beelzebub, Susano-oh, Loki, Odin, Melchezedek, Gabriel, Ragnarok/Word Serpent whatever you prefer, Rah, Anubis, Vishnu, Abbadon, Thanatos, Skadi, Michael, Sandalphon, Asura, and Shiva make a decent starter list. Note all of these are considered "powerful" persona and most of them appear in multiple games not one or two. I also tried to steer away from MC only plot Persona. Thanatos for example appears in other games than Persona 3 but he looks different obviously.

My personal favorite by design standards though is Chernobog. Just love the guys look for some reason. Also I think Cu Chulainn is sort of a series standard as well and is also well designed, just be aware that there are other Persona versions of him by his real non bad ass hero name *cough*.

And of course there are the Atlus boys who are fan favorites ;p. Jack Frost, Black Frost, King Frost, Jack o Lantern or whatever name you want to use for him etc etc.

I always expect Chernobog to look like he does in Disney's Fantasia, Night On Bald Mountain. Then when he doesn't, I get disappointed. Still, that short is so awesome I do try to keep a Chernobog on hand while playing SMT and just imagine him crushing lesser demons in his hands and whatnot.

Well when they get around to including him in the next Persona you can always convince Atlus USA to work up some original US only art hehehe. Actually it would sort of be neat to have some difference between versions or some kind of added content sometimes. Like a few extra persona or something. Maybe I wanna summon Ben Franklin and have him cast the ultimate debuff spell "Da Gout" on my enemies?

Come on just a thought..... :(

My favorite demon is Leanan Sidhe, especially in Raidou 1. She floats around by her hair!

Alice is also a mainstay. Heck, any Fiend is.
(Gotta have Nebiros and Belial with her around, too.)

Other fun pairings:

Rangda & Barong
Shiva & Parvati
Titania & Oberno
etc.

Thank you thank you thank you folks. I appreciate the input.

And Karkarvo, that is actually a strange yet fun idea. :) pulling slightly more recent icons from history would be a lot of fun, no matter where they come from.

Alice! And Raiho, of course. Although I have to admit that other than those, my favorite is probably Ardha from Digital Devil Saga 2, and ESPECIALLY the half-transformed version. Which I dearly wish I could find an image of. *Sad*

But anyway, my other advice is to keep your project fairly small for now; focus on getting the core bits done, but design it in such a way as to make adding new demons and stuff fairly easy. It may well go better than trying to create something massive to start with.

Thanks for the input!! Yeah I have the project designed so that it can be implemented fairly small to start, but is scalable so I can grow it into a much bigger monster as time and abilities allow. :) So far it's shaping up nicely.

My favorite was Kohryu. I set him up in P4 to where I had no weaknesses and was immune to all types of instant death. He also had Mediarahan and Samrecarm, along with Agidyne, Garudyne, Bufudyne, and Ziodyne. Kicked major ass with him...especially against the final boss of the True Ending (holding back for those who haven't gotten that ending yet).

@Evilkinggumby: I'm glad to hear that. I have something of an interest in these sorts of projects, and I especially like seeing them finished. How far are you, exactly? Depending on what it is that you're doing, I may be able to help.

*Admits to being partial to DDS' style*

The long and the short of it? A custom adventure/mod built in the Fallout 3 engine/world that should encompass both game worlds and make for one helluva wild ride, offering some of the best aspects of both.

It's still in the earlier stages, as I have a number of software packages to learn and master first, but I have been building a team for some time and gathering input/ideas along the way. The story/plot is mostly build, and a lot of the beginning scenes' scripting is done. My biggest hurtle was getting my pc upgraded so it was decent for this project, which is finally all set so this summer the project goes into overdrive. SO whereas the project stalled for a time while I was upgrading and finishing college, I expect to get back in business pretty fast. There is a DEVblog for it I can post here when there is progress to be had that is more visible. :)

Mostly it's a singular ffort with a handful of folk offering to help, but I still have designed it around the concept that in the end it may just be ME making this, so in a lot of ways I have to be realistic in my goals. :)

and since you said you prefer dds style.. do me a favor if you get bored and elaborate on my other sister thread. I'd love to know exactly WHAT you like or disliked. :)
