Why'd they have to make Chie so terrible?
She's an awesome character, but practically useless in combat, I'd like to use her, but it's annoying to know pretty much every character is better than her.
That is all.

What?I mostly used Chie in my party and she kicked ass

W--what?
Well, yeah. For the first time, she was practically useless. But once she get to high leveled skill, you'll be surprised. She learned many strong phys. skill, like Agneyastra and God's Hand.

I see that completely differently.
She starts out great, but then becomes less and less attractive as she starts to lose spells. I'm not too bothered over the lack of Ice spells, but in early levels she supplies Tarukaja, I don't get why she couldn't have learned Matarukaja, it would make her so much better.
While she can deal a lot of damage, the lack of party wide buff really annoys me more than anything.
I admit I was a little harsh saying she's useless, she's not. I guess I was a little mad realizing she'll never learn Matarukaja.

Huh, well Chie's usually the one who finishes the bosses off for me with her Power Charge+Physical Attack Skills. And I keep her Ice skills even though they're weak since all that matters to me is her knocking down enemies weak against Ice. The All-Out Attacks usually finishes the Shadows off anyway.

This.
Was pretty funny having a level 75ish character with Mabufu though

Yeah, my second playthrough is pretty much going to abandon Chie's magic in favor of a generally physical spread. After all, Teddie covers the Bufu line very well and has better stats for that role.
All that said, Chie is always useful because Galactic Punt is an instant kill.

No one's mentioned her agility. In random battles, her agi stat usually lets her attack before the enemy, which is nice since she has a good attack stat and target-all phys attacks. If you get the ambush on enemies, she's got 2 free turns before the enemy attacks. Power charge + single target attacks means she's good in boss battles, too. That's why I like her more than Kanji, who's too slow in random battles and has no phys target-all attacks, or Naoto, who's pretty lousy against bosses.
By the way, Raptorg, what boss was it that you hit for 2546 damage? I rarely see more than 1000...

Umm, it wasn't a boss.. But it might as well have been, it's some mob with ~4000 hp. It's one of the robots from the laboratory. But it has very low defense.
I wasn't overleveled against it, though.
With the MC I managed to hit it for ~4.6k with Tempest Slash at level 53.
I didn't screenshot that, though..
The attack I used with Chie was Heat Wave.
Eh, I was leveling to get a Tam Lin(it just happened to be the day it receives Amrite + bonus XP, so I went to level just to get it) so I got bored and decided to see how hard I could hit against it.
Chie single target attacks are pretty awful before you get Rainy Death or God's Hand. Rampage has the potential to be your strongest hitter until you get either(Though it can just as easily hit for less.) it's multi-hit nature makes it very good. I still use it very often.
One thing I don't get though, why Yosuke, mainly a caster, has more strength than Chie. Sure, Yosuke learns Brave Blade eventually.. But still, he's supposed to be a hybrid, it makes little sense.
I wonder if her strength will eventually increase.. If I had to guess, Kanji probably has way more strength than Chie, though at the cost of agility and magic. Sure, it's nice that Chie could potentially hit a target where Kanji might not hit it.. But still..

Yosuke's overall stats are actually really high. If you add them up, I believe his stats are higher than the stat totals of any other character. Still, like you said he lacks a physical attack skill, but at least his high strength means his normal attack does decent damage assuming he's got a good weapon equipped, until he gets Brave Blade.
Forgot about Chie's lack of good single target attacks between Black Spot and God's Hand - most recent gaming was at the final dungeon. Yeah, normally I stuck with Rampage or normal attacks until God's Hand and Agneyastra. Auto-matakuraja and Auto-masukukaja on the MC really helps too in random battles.
Chie's strength isn't that much lower than Yosuke's, at least not enough to make that much of a difference. She's also got multi-target attacks that are stronger than Naoto's. Kanji's is definitely the hardest hitter of the bunch, but only for single targets.
BTW, does anybody else besides me keep Chie's Skull Cracker throughout the game? It seems like there's a neat hidden mechanic in the game where certain types of enemies are "weak" to a certain status effect. For example, if you try to confuse a Jotun of Power in the laboratory, they'll get confused nearly 100% of the time even from a Skull Cracker (or Tentarafoo). Wild Drives and Furious Gigas I think also get confused 100% by Skull Crackers or Tentarafoo. Has anyone else noticed or tried this?
I've tested this out a bit on the final floor of Yomotsu Hirasaka, so a few more enemies that I've seen always be confused 100% are El Dorado Beasts and Brilliant Kings.
Enemies that are silenced 100% with Foolish Whisper are El Dorado Beasts, Brilliant Kings and Heartless Machines.
Enemies that are berserked 100% with Balzac or Valiant Dance are Void Giants (who cast Balzac on themselves). Trying to inflict silence, confuse or other status affects on Void Giants seems far less successful.
I'd like to know if someone else gets these results too, so I know I'm not nuts or my game's giving me very implausible results.

I personally kept Skull Cracker for a long time. But I gave it up since I have Yosuke in my party with Tentarafoo, which hits all targets where Skull Cracker would hit 1 target. I felt it'd be more efficient that way. It still served me really well against some really strong shadows.
There are definitely some shadows that are weak against certain status effects. Most of the time, though, I don't really bother, I just attempt to kick the crap out of them as fast as possible with multitarget spells..
I recently got myself a Tam Lin with Blade of Fury which really hits most enemies hard, easily doing 50-75% damage or simply one shotting them. I think it's actually better than Deathbound(Which Tam Lin has as an innate skill) I still haven't figured out whether Tempest Slash or Blade of Fury hits harder in the long run..
Still, it's one amazing Persona..
It resists fire and physical, blocks thunder and light.
Mine knows the skills Tempest Slash, Blade of Fury, High Counter, Evade Physical, Power Charge, Enduring Soul and Auto-Mataru.
In addition to that, its strength and agility are really high.
As far as I'm concerned, that's the perfect Persona to me, I can't think of anything wrong with it. Except that it doesn't learn "Severe" damage skills.. But it's not a high end Persona, either so that's fine. The best thing about it is that it has no weaknesses, has a way to prevent death if it would ever occur.

Chie's attack power makes her a pretty handy character.
That being said, I can't comprehend why she doesn't learn better spells. Sure, she's a physically-minded character, but so is Kanji. In fact, Chie's MA is better than Kanji's. Why does Kanji learn decent spells, but Chie doesn't?

Finally maxed out Chie, gotta say.. God's Hand + Power Charge does not disappoint.
And I also noticed the Power Charge tooltip is wrong, it doesn't double damage, it increases damage to 250%, so 150% extra damage..

It wouldn't make sense for it to be double anyways, because if it did then you could just do god hand twice.
But yeah, Chie is pretty sweet in the long run.

Yeah, of course..
But if I'm not mistaken, the P3 tooltip of Power Charge does say it increases damage by x2.5.
2 people doing god's hand on Adachi and Ameno-sagiri was pretty insane..
