IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- JANUARY 25, 2010 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today revealed a GameStop-exclusive mini-poster promotion for Shin Megami Tensei®: Strange Journey™, its upcoming first-person sci-fi RPG for Nintendo DS™. The game, which already comes with a soundtrack CD packed in a collectible outer box (launch copies only), can now offer décor-concerned gamers who pre-order a copy of the game at GameStop (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=76262) with a nice mini-poster (available online and in stores while supplies last) with which to add class to their living area.

"Some of the best bonus items are the kind you can listen to, hence the soundtrack CD we're including with launch copies of the game," commented Aram Jabbari, Manager of Public Relations and Sales at Atlus. "Still, sometimes you want a bonus item that you can feel, something you can caress gently and hold against your face, something you can take a big whiff of and enjoy. That's what the mini-poster is all about. With its gorgeous aesthetic, courtesy of master artist Kazuma Kaneko, Strange Journey stands out as a unique science fiction RPG experience, and this collectible mini-poster is the perfect way to show your friends that you are onboard for the adventure (and also, that you're better than them)."

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is now scheduled to release on March 23rd, 2010. Check out the official website, at http://www.atlus.com/strangejourney.

About SMT: Strange Journey
When the black spot appeared in the Antarctic, mankind became nervous; when it began to spread, that anxiety turned to panic. The Joint Project, convened to discuss how to deal with the expanding anomaly, decided to send in four ships carrying humanity's finest soldiers and most cutting-edge technology. The mission: to investigate what lay on the other side of what had been dubbed the Schwarzwelt and find out if there was a way to stop it from eventually covering the Earth.

You are an elite soldier hand-picked for the Strike Team, outfitted with a Demonica environment suit and posted to the Red Sprite under Commander Gore. Upon entering the Schwarzwelt, the crew finds itself forced to deal with harsh conditions, supernatural interference, and throngs of demons populating the bewildering world. What exactly is the Schwarzwelt? What awaits at the end of this strange journey? It is entirely in your hands to find out...

Key Features
Shin Megami Tensei goes beyond—Strange Journey's game mechanics represent a return to the proud tradition of the all-time dungeon-crawling classic SMT: Nocturne, while its story takes players into the near future on a mission to save Earth and to understand humanity's position within the larger universe.
A dark turn into science fiction—Who or what is causing the black hole that is engulfing the Earth? A mission to investigate the cause uncovers a whole world of demons that humans knew nothing about. Do they seek your destruction or will you seek theirs? Will you decide to save Earth or choose another path for humanity?
Team up with demons—Demons may be friends or foes depending on your ability to negotiate, bribe, and coerce them to join your party. With more than 300 types of demons, you'll have a huge variety of battlefield encounters and an equally large base of options on which to build your party strategy.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey has been rated "M" for Mature with Blood, Fantasy Violence, Language, Partial Nudity, and Sexual Themes by the ESRB.

Erm, according to the post it is just a Gamestop thing. I'm confused by that comment.

With this announcement I'm almost happy I haven't had the money to preorder it yet.

BOOOOOOOH Gamestop

haven't you guys (Atlus) had many problems with gamestop refusing to stock some of your niche DS titles in the past? Why would you give them the poster exclusivity, and not Amazon?

I guess I just answered my own question, haven't I?

Huh, I guess i'll have to do my first GameStop pre-order since Growlanser: Heritage of War.

I am not fond of online only preorder bonuses unless its from the publisher, but Gamestop has caused alot of people problems around here (I've never had a problem, but thats probably because ours is in a small town). I like having the garuntee Ill get it, and if not, at least I get a good game ;p

Same here.

Not that I care much. I barely have any room on my walls to put up any posters. And posters are pain to keep in pristine shape.

The soundtrack CD we're getting is good enough for me.

This. I don't care much for a mini-sized poster. I just hope that the soundtrack would be like the full soundtrack we got for P1 PSP.

Gamestop exclusive, eh? Which mean I won't get this poster (it looks good). I pre-ordered mine from Play-Asia.

Is this available to EB Games as well? I know Gamestop has bought them and most EB Games use Gamestop on their bags so I'm hoping the deal will work too.

The thing is when I check their website it doesn't list it.
http://www.gamestop.ca/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=253363

While if I check gamestop.com I will see the bonus listed there.

I came here to ask this as well, since I've decided to switch my preorder to gamestop.ca (they handled my Lunar LE preorder with class, for once).

Note that the gamestop.ca doesn't even have the standard bonus items listed. ALL COPIES OF SMT:SJ will come with the "spoils", right?

Yeah. This seems to happen all the time with games, the product descriptions not being updated to reflect the actual bonuses we're offering, so when in doubt, trust what our site says.

This is crap!

I have always bought my atlus stuff from amazon, where all the stuff goes first... and to find a gamestop only promotion, what the hell?

Well, it's not exactly a bonus item, but Amazon's offering ship date delivery, and it's even cheaper (for me at least) than next day shipping. Gamestop may be offering that too, but if they aren't, they aren't mentioning it when you peek at the game on their website.

Maybe I'm an impatient psycho, but getting it a day earlier's worth more to me than a poster anyway. :D

I got the call from Gamestop, but mom Mom can't pick it up until 7 PM. I've never has bad luck with Gamestop before, but with us coming so late, I hope I still get the poster...

I preordered. Then today when I bounced merrily into my local Gamestop, they never even got any posters, nor did they know what I was talking about. I withdrew my preorder and went to the other Gamestop. They never got any and had no record of ever even offering that promotion. So now I get to order it from Amazon, which is $5 cheaper. I really appreciate this massive waste of my time and patience. I really want to play this game. Amazon often offers release date shipping, which I just BET I'm too late for since it is now...the release date. Hopefully my OST works, since that is a possible problem as well. Surely there wouldn't be that many defective copies.

Burn, Gamestop, burn. Hopefully Atlus won't chance anymore spoils on this company. As a collector it really sucks balls that I missed this piece.

My understanding is the poster is like the Izuna and Steal Princess ones and is in the case behind the cover. Unfortunately like those there's no way to tell if you've got the poster in your copy until you open it.

Really? So they have specially packaged ones for Gamestop stores or can I get it elsewhere?

Went to store, guy looks around for it, then checks computer, he says:
-I don't see anything in the computer about a poster, maybe online offer.

At least he was nice and said sorry. I'd be angry if I really wanted to poster but I just wanted to get the game early instead of waiting for Amazon.

I should've probably checked this thread before I went back to ask for my poster. I insisted in GameStop that they didn't hand me one of those thinking it was rather sizable. As fate would turn out, I think the general manager was there, and called every store on the district about it. He checked my copy, box and everything to see if it was there with no such luck. They told me I should be contacted once they got the poster, and gave me $10 off my next store purchase.

Then the higher-ups came! Luckily the manager was over the phone when he asked for my copy, then he was told over the phone to check behind the cover art. It was there.

I felt bad about myself. I didn't mean to cause such a comotion over a piece of pre-order bonus.

(Next time Atlus, maybe a little something folded? I would hardly call it poster from its size.)
