Wow that is too bad, I was hoping that Atlus would handle the two Super Robot Taisen games. But maybe NBGI doesnt have these games. Or at least I dont think they have it cuz then that means I am going to have to ask them to localize it.
I'd totally rather Namdai kept their underqualified, unsynched, terrible voice acting staff away from this and handed it to Atlus.

While I do agree with u Sei, that I would rather have Atlus localize these games. There is nothing we can do if Atlus decides that they dont want to localize these games and they decide to let Namco Bandai take charge of it.
I, too really hoped that Atlus would have localize these games. But as it stands now we may never know if Atlus is going to even bother to localize these games. Seeing as how we have not gotten a single word for them if they are going to localize it or not.
All I want to know is if this game is going to get localized, (No offense to Atlus) but if they dont localize and another company does I will still buy the game. As long as the game is in English I am going to buy it.

It seems that Atlus is still interested in localizing the titles, but unfortunately the Japanese aren't.

True, that it seems that they're not ready to fully give the franchise to U.S (yet). As compared to Namco Bandai, which they're willing to throw various Tales games to the U.S

You love to joke don't you?
They're giving us VERY LITTLE tales games, and most of the time, only spin-offs, and also missing quite a few things from the original versions. They give us incomplete games, missing most of the voice overs. So you get voiceless Skits.
Where's the Tales of Destiny for PSP?
Tales of Eternia?? (Europe got it, but published by Ubisoft, no US version because of Namco USA blocking it)
Tales of Rebirth? (Not coming, confirmed by Namco themselves)
Tales of Phantasia: Full Voice Edition (PSP)
Tales of Destiny 1 & 2 (PS2)
Tales of the Tempest (DS) confirmed NOT coming in the US
Tales of Innocense(DS) confirmed NOT coming in the US
no, seriously, Namco Bandai are pretty idiotic on the releases like most japanese publishers these days.
I think the only ones that actually are getting better are quite few, like Atlus and NIS.

My personal opinion is that game developers in Japan are like gods lounging around on a cloud far above the earth. Once in a while they'll throw lightning bolts at us, either for sport, or out of sheer boredom, or curiosity, or because someone's building lots of lightning rods and they can't resist a target. The problem is that they're impervious to our logic and don't listen to why we want (or DON'T want) a particular lightning bolt.Wait, aren't lightning bolts painful?

I love it when people are desperate enough to see a game get localized, yet they come up with a list of demands.
^ Well, they want to see the game be localized well.
I'd love to play this in english, but if say, they replaced the mechs with piles of #### and the pilots with potatomen, I think I'd pass no matter how much I asked for it.
I think there is a certain expectation of quality that comes with the localization request.

I love it more when they haven't read any of the 985309834098309 explanations of why Atlus can't just leave voice-overs undubbed and translate the text.

Honestly, they shouldn't give a ####. If they're so hell bent on getting this game, they should be happy to get it no matter how bad the translation is. Asking Atlus to release it, then demanding they leave the voices in Japanese is absurd.
And we're not talking about the actual content of the game, we're talking about the voices. Something that just, you know, don't really matter.
It matters to them!.
Personally, I'd take Dual Audio over single Audio and no Audio over Baten Kaitos, but Atlus has had (imho) a decent track record, so I am not too concerned.
It is however a game that would lose A LOT from a lack of voiceover during battle, as a lot of the point of the combat scenes is the kinetic intensity/feeling/over the topness of them.
I also don't think its fair or reasonable to assume that everyone that posts in the forums has read every other thread on them, especially when a lot of those threads on voice overs tend to be in completely unrelated forums in completely unrelated genres of games (like the Arcana Heart stuff right now).
Maybe it should be added to the faq!.
Some of the attacks in the game are in the following video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7kpMhvXAX0&feature=related.
And at any rate, if Atlus did this game I doubt it would be treated as a budget release in the same way Arcana was, so a lot of the justifications for removing audio from that one kind of vanish. Hell, Baroque has voices and I don't see that selling nearly as well as this would.

It matters to them!
Then they don't deserve to play it. Pointe finale.
The fact is that this has no chance of being release, so there's no more pompous way to ask a request, than to make a demand along with it.
I often make suggestions to Atlus. I never tell them how to do their job.
Eh, it doesn't hurt to hope.
Perhaphs my reading comprehension is off, but noone was telling Atlus how to do their job, rather, they were discussing what Bandamco does with the Tales series, and while you may take offense with the merit, or content of a message to Bandai at the Atlus boards, It really wasn't directed at Atlus.
Unless you really meant Bandai when you said Atlus, or he meant the Atlus that does Tales games and removes voices from the skits. In which case it's spot on.
It's a harsh world where what someone deserves or doesn't is determined in a completely unrelated message board belonging to a different company.
Btw, for anyone interested, the Super Robot Taisen Gaiden LE is available now, comes with an LE Personal Trooper

But it was. Namco-Bandai has no intention of releasing Super Robot Wars, and for good reason. It costs too much to localize, and fans of the series get angry at the slightest change or alteration (even if it means the addition of English voices - which is not uncommon here). I mean, honestly, who would want to localize this? It's too much hassle.
And in his original post:
i frankly dont care on who gets it now i like the tales they are pretty good anit to fussed about the voice acting but in og LEAVE IT ALONE!!! doesnt need to be messed with just let it have a japanese voice over and have the game in english text simple
He's posting in the Atlus messageboard, so I find it extremely redundant to be complaining to Namco-Bandai. Unless his IQ is 3, he was talking to Atlus.
but in og LEAVE IT ALONE!!!
And he was talking about OG.
And I find it extremely stupid to complain about the lack of voices in the skits. What should be complained about is the fact that we're missing out on a big chunk of the series, which they don't want to release over here, for some odd reason. I'd gladly take removed skits if it means I can actually play the game in a language I can understand.
And I don't take offence to anything. I'm just really sick and tired of people requesting "Japanese voices". I mean, what's the point? If Atlus can, they'll put them in. If they can't, they won't. Why bitch about it?

IIRC (I don't care enough about this series to dig through this long, stupid thread), I think the impossibility of leaving only JP voices has been addressed in this very thread. If not, it was before the board crashed. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect someone to do a little research, or at the very least, read through the thread before posting suggestions/demands for a game.
^ Yet you care enough about something or another to be present in the thread since page 2 to antagonize/make fun of/ comment on the people that do care about the series.
I checked, such an impossibility has not been discussed on this thread. Peoples preferences in the matter have, but Atlus has said nothing one way or the other as to what would or would not be possible.
It does seem a bit unreasonable to expect people to read through the posts on the previous board, which happens to be dead now, in order to express an opinion . Might be helpfull if you expanded what you mean by research, but if it means "read through every post in every forum of the Atlus message boards until their level of knowledge equals that of me", who by the way, can't be bothered "to dig through this long, stupid thread" either, while posting from the top of the "Holier than thou" stone, does seem a bit unreasonable as well.

I agree with that, still, they should get to voice their opinion on the matter, it doesn't take anything from you, or from the "people who don't care enough about this series" yet care enough to come in and troll.

This thread goes on for nine pages. I think Atlus is fully aware of the game by now. It has served its purpose.
And to those people to voice their opinion (while demeaning the very people who work for this company, I might add), I am also allowed to voice mine. And it is in no way less important than someone who comes in demanding Japanese voice acting.
EDIT: And I just made it ten. Hallelujah!

I usually browse the board while I'm procrastinating or waiting between classes. I check all of the threads that have the "unread" icon next to them, and read for two seconds. If it's interesting, I keep going. If not, I click back. That's kind of the norm for an internet message board. If someone says something stupid, I will comment on it, as many members (both regs and newbies) are wont to do.
Either way, I'm not really sure why I have to justify my involvement in a thread to you.
Many of these guys have returned from the earlier iteration of the board to post about this game, so some of them, yes, have read the old thread. Admittedly, one of the more vocal ones got banhammered.
As for the new ones, the mods have made comments about the unlikelihood of this game being localized at least once (Onion's post about Japanese developers), which they almost NEVER do unless the game is pretty much not going to happen. The news about Banpresto and Bandai-Namco means that there probably won't be any movement on this game for a while. However, this thread keeps growing. This is evidence that many of these guys probably have not read through this thread, and they obviously have not done any research about what goes into localization (or else they would know about the English VA thing), the Japanese developer(s?) of SRW/SRT, or Atlus's practices.
Last I checked, It was against the rules to troll. Which is, you know, basically what you do.
If you don't respect the people that like these games, that is awesome and your prerrogative, if you are bored and have nothing better to do, that is truly a shame.
But you come in and troll every so often, making amusing/ironic comments to entertain yourself at the expense of the people that do want to contribute something. That is a very rude thing to do irregardless of how intelligent you may perceive them to be or in what contempt you may hold them.
You may think that it's pointless, but so what. Atlus has not said no, and honestly, until they do, it might not be, and if it makes those people happy to post about it to keep the topic alive, it is still no skin off your nose. Especially when you can't be bothered to put the same research that you demand of others into what you say.
At least you provided your definition of "research": "what goes into localization (or else they would know about the English VA thing), the Japanese developer(s?) of SRW/SRT, or Atlus's practices." Which comes down to being in your head, and agreeing with you. As obviously someone may have the same factual base and disagree with your attempts at being the class clown.
Just in case you didn't care enough to stumble upon this:
The #1 cardinal rule of this forum is don't be hostile. Don't be rude, don't be a troll, don't take arguments into the realm of personal insults. Well, I guess if the chance of these games being localize still exist. No matter how small the chance, I guess the only thing to do is wait and see how things are going to turn out in the future.
Having said that, of course, it would be awesome if these games did get localized in the near future. Of course, this is all just wishful thinking and may happen.

In all honesty, I'm happy with my imported copies of OGs and OGG. It's not THAT hard to follow with a). various FAQs on GameFAQs and elsewhere and b.) having a basic enough understanding of the written language to get the gist of most conversations. Especially since I've enjoyed the localized GBA versions.
Having a version with english text and voices would just be a nice bonus for me, personally, so I'll still support a localized release if it should ever happen.
Well I'd love to see them come stateside (OG's and OG Gaiden) even if it's a slim possiblity it is rather impressive that 10 pages worth of discussion has gone on for the one game.

To save Atlus the trouble, if they decide to publish the game maybe they should just keep the Jap dub but translate the text. I'd rather they publish OG/ OG gaiden before Banpresto gets absorbed by Namco Bandai tho.
Plus, I'm sure Atlus wouldn't have to worry about the sales. The visuals are stunning! It'll prolly be more pupular than Persona 3 imo. 8)

It's a similar situation to Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Atlus is fully aware of the game by now, and fully aware that lots of people (or should I say lots of accounts) want it, but it's out of their hands. I don't see what's so hard to understand.
EDIT: Oh, and according to the sticky of this section:
As an addendum to Onion's notes: the Suggestion forum is a place to suggest games, not lobby for them. We read all suggestions and take them into account, but posting "call to arms" and trying to overwhelm us with sheer numbers (in the hundreds...) will generally never work.

...Back to the topic, as far as I know, it is not common knowledge that this particular game as ZERO chance of being localized. If it were the case, some Atlus representative would leave a "sorry but it will never happen" etc comment and lock the topic. If you don't want this game, simply post a comment on a game you do want, or make a suggestion on a new game. Respect you fellow gamers, and respect Atlus if you're going to remain of the furum.

They can't do that. They can't announce something won't be released by them unless another publisher picks it up.
But if you've read this thread at all, you'd have realized that Atlus doesn't give a #### about the hundreds of "gimme gimme" posts.

If it'll boost any chances, I'll put my two cents in. I bought both the gba OG games, played the Japanese versions of the PS2 games and would absolutely love a chance to play them in english, especially Gaiden. So I say to you atlus, bring em out, and you've assuredly got my money. Frankly I see it weird that bandai-namco wouldnt bring em out if they did decide to localize em but hey, I dont care who, I just care that they do.

Wow, y'know, as a new member to this forum this thread is distinctly dissapointing. I came here because I like many of the series Atlus has brought over and my large PS2 game collection consists of at least 30 to 50% Atlus games. And, yes, before anyone asks, I do love the SRW games. I got started with a patch for SRW3 on ZSNES and have been following everything I can understand since (and, no, I don't understand Japanese enough to get the storylines out of a game).
Yes, I fully understand the unlikeliness of a localization of any further Original Generation game occuring; from either Atlus or BandaiNamco. However, my original intent was to come in to this thread and share my support of a localization with fellow fans, and maybe have a nice introduction to the message board of a company I highly respect.
What I found, however, was a thread that quickly turned from a few people in support of it and some logical observations on the unlikeliness of it (I truly did not know that Banpresto had been absorbed in to Bandai Namco until tonight, nor did I know several other things) to a series of attacks against the game every time a new person was in support of it. Someone mused as to why so many people joined up to support SRW: OGs' release and then dissapeared after posting in this thread and, frankly, I can understand why. This message board has to be one of the most hostile and hateful I've ever been on, and I've seen my fair share of internet hatemongering.
Frankly, I'm dissapointed that those listed as site admins have tolerated the way members have been talking to each other in this thread at all. There has been clear trolling, from my perspective, from both sides and I'm just dissapointed. Doesn't mean I won't continue to buy Atlus games, or support a possible localization of OGs, OGG or any other future OG game from whoever gets the ability to do so. It just means I figured that as a fan of what Atlus has done over many franchises I was expecting to meet some nice, intelligent people here to have fun with in my spare time. As of this 12th page, I'm thinking I had my hopes too high.
For all it's worth, I'd like to thank anyone who works for Atlus for the enjoyable translations of OG1 and 2, for SMT: Nocturne and many more. Thank you for having a suggestion forum at all. Shame people don't keep a sense of etiquette.

Atlus can't officially state anything until another company announces they are localizing it. Legal reasons, y'know. Strange stuff.

Well, that's tricky. You see, Atlus usually makes two versions of the game. One with English dialogue, and one with Japanese. They only sell the English one, but if you call up their tech support, they'll send you the Japanese one, if you have proof of purchase.

We put it in games when we can. (Yggdra Union PSP will have it, for instance.) Whether or not we can do it depends on a lot of factors, the biggest of which is storage space.

It's just taking them a long time to translate because it's so awesome. They want to announce closer to release!,
It'll probably be announced at this year's Anime Expo. The clue in the
izuna's milkshakes e-mail should be a dead giveaway.
Well, what IS the clue anyway?

At the bottom of the e-mail, atlus aran says "Oh, click here. July 5,2008. 6:30 P.M." The link goes to google maps and shows the LA Convention center. That time probably means they'll hold some type of mini press confrence during anime expo and Atlus will show off what's coming up in the 2nd half of this year. My money's is on OG's being one of those games unveiled.

We all know that's for Eliminage.
og in hex is 6F67
SRT in hex is 535254
5+3+5+2+5+4 = 24
67 - 24 = 43
F is now a colon
og is now 6:43
CONFIRMATION SRT WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT 6:43 - 13 MINUTES AFTER THE START OF THE PRESS CONFERENCE

While it's highly unlikely, I wouldn't mind SE localizing Elminage. don't know how true to the source their localizations are, but they seem to do a pretty good job. They do as good of a job as Atlus ever has, albeit, not as personal.
