It's more than a little annoying that every time you announce a new game for the PSP (or maybe anything) that people gripe that it's not Growlanser.

So maybe, such comments could be offlimits to such threads?

Quick question.

What's the point of this thread?

Basically JeremyR, you're like this guy on my 1-hour commute back from work, who is so angry at the guy who cut him off, so you tailgate him for a while, then force him to pull over so you can "talk". Then you get beat to death by a baseball bat... and life goes on.

You know I was just starting to move on and accept that we won't be getting Growlanser or Shining Force Feather or many others that I'm interested in. And now you had to reopen my wounds and remind me. Thanks a lot!

Exactly how I felt reading the OP's post. =/

You'll always find people voicing their thoughts about wanting a certain release instead of a particular one. It just happens that us Growlanserians(!?) are very devout. All five of us. :P

There were a lot more but a lot of them offed themselves after Heritage of War came out.

We're not going to enforce the suggestion or anything, but it is a little annoying, whether it's Growlanser or P3P or 7th Dragon or whatever.

It's not that bad, really. It's just mediocre as opposed to amazing(Growlanser 2).

And we got one beautiful artbook out of the deal.

Except for the artbook, I disagree. The developers changed everything I loved about Growlanser. The sprites were changed to ugly polygons, you were forced to fight random battles whenever you went somewhere as opposed to just having an option to, and G-d help me if I ever moved the left analog stick by accident (help, my SRPG just turned into an ARPG!). At least Shining Force Neo had beautiful graphics going for it to compensate for boring gameplay, but I didn't find anything redeeming about Heritage of War. /end rant Sorry :(

I've got your redeeming feature right here.

Er, and Growlanser 3 had random battles too, so it's not that new. But yeah, I vastly preferred strategic battles.

Yes yes, she was the best looker >_> it's a shame the romance though between you and her is more like a completely weird twist and you know what i mean. Your character is never around her, to get her you do a side-quest as her if i remember, which makes her like you 100% >_>?....i'd of liked the game more if the story was more deep, your main character had a mystery sure but the story i believe just got weaker the more and more it went on.

Saishu

Story more deep? What, do you want more 'cultural' insight on each of the countries?

AlexDM
01-17-2010, 09:29 AM
Actually yes i would.

Plus i would of liked more information on your 'mother' in the game & the voice at the beginning the moment you start to play as the actual main hero. The one in the tutorial. I figured they could of just made a tutorial with no voice telling you what to do, i don't know maybe they just did that just because >.>?

Still though you got to admit they could of went deeper in the regards of making a relationship with a few of the characters.

Sherris
Rufus
Gaerik

All 3 you build a relationship of 100, doing just 1 side-quest for each. This is where i felt they just went. "O...yeah we forgot about those three. . .uh-----O side quest" so i felt like they could of done more in that regard as well.

Other then that it was okay.

Saishu

Gaerik really didn't have much of a presence. Rufus was kinda off too. He became my friend without any interaction.

I chose the Melvina route. It is awkward for the main character to have much care for anyone outside the PMB.

AlexDM
01-17-2010, 01:44 PM
Which is why i wanted them to go deeper in the story behind those three, so at least it made sense if the character ended up with Sherris.

Lol and i kind of could tell you went with Melvina xD; based on your picture.

Well, i do plan to buy the II and III Growlanser, those seem to have a good story.

Thirded. They're classics for a reason.

And if this gets on the mods' nerves, I can make a proper Growlanser discussion thread in Off Topic or something.

Fourthed.

Or you can do as I am. Give up on them being localized and start importing them. Not against Atlus picking them up but if mentioing them is an issue, I'd rather just buy them and move on. Not intending to insult or annoy. If more Growlanser games ever get released, great, if not I'll have the games anyways.

A bit out there, but let's say I purchased a Japanese PS2 for said import games. Would I need an electric outlet converter?

I've always wanted to know the answer to that.

I believe the Japanese power supply and N/A have the same voltage. I could be mistaken but I think the Japanese PS2 works on a 220volt power supply. Not sure what the N/A runs. Think it's only the European version you'd need to be worried over.

Growlanser: Generations

You do realize you could just buy this one for 50$ or something lower and you get Growlanser II and III

The only Growlanser(on the PS2) worth importing is IV: Wayfarer of Time.

The PSP's region free, so if Atlus USA still don't localize Growlanser 1 PSP, you can just import it.

It might even be cheap? I doubt it was exactly a huge success in Japan(otherwise we might have gotten it by now, but who knows).

And I can confirm that the JPS2 uses the same power supply, as I have one.

Let's positive thinking, Growlanserians.

Importing the games is not the problem. It's the whole learning Japanese that's a little tough.

Well it look like P3P is getting localized. I'm still waiting for them to announce Growlanswer for the psp
