Just post how you celebrate the upcoming holiday.

Our family being my siblings and me usually go over to my mom's and step fathers place on Christmas morning and would unwrap gifts and eat breakfast there.

The day after we'll be going to my Mom's side of the family for a get together and a meal, her sister Connie has a Pinball machine at their house, which I usually find myself playing while over there.

With one side of the family we don't do gifts or anything, we all just go to this particular Canadian/Chinese buffet and have a meal there, talk, whatever. We're not very close to that side of the family. This usually happens a week before xmas.

For my other side of the family a few days before xmas we go to my one cousin's and have gift opening and a xmas dinner and hang out for most of the day. Then on xmas day we go to my grandma's and have an xmas dinner there too with some relatives who live fairly far away. There are lots of cousins, uncles and second cousins and the like there. Just lots of family stuff. The boyfriend even comes now. :)

Weird combination you've got there.

For me, we have gift openings with just my direct family in our apartment and go over to my grandmother's house no more than 2 miles away and have a huge, awkward (for me) family gathering with over 30 people.

I ride a makeshift sleigh down into Whoville and steal all their stuff.

All family gathers and eat and drink and party like there's no tomorrow. We also play cards and bet some money. I never won.

Some of the family members gather somewhere at the 24th each year, where we eat some good food and open presents afterwards. After everyone has opened their presents, I hurry to my room (if possible, depending on the location) and play whatever anticipated game I got.

Almost every single buffet around here serves a combination of Chinese and Canadian food. It's like a thing up here.

I like this. Can I celebrate this tradition with you?

For me? It used to be about celebrating with all of the family from both sides of my parents. We would gather at one house, and have this loaded buffet of awesome food! Now? We barely get to say "Merry Christmas" to one another. They all hate each other, it's sickening. Now it's purchasing gifts.

We have a party with a different food theme each year on Xmas Eve with the close-range family and open gifts. Then on Xmas morning we open gifts from our immediate family, like parents, siblings ect. I dunno what food we're doing this year.

Oh, and I go to my "inlaws" basically Xmas day too so my gf can get her gifts from them and we can hang out there.

Thinking about taking a friend to go see Sherlock Holmes with us, too...

Snow storm over the next several days has me pretty much stranded. I don't think we will be able to do anything. :/

I guess I'll be having horrible spidery nightmares for Christmas.

I'm a Buddhist, so I don't really celebrate Xmas. But I do give presents to my friends and family. I usually watch a couple of movies and eat some sushi with my parents.

Normaly once everyone gets off work, we all eat something and try to open the presents as close to midnight as posible. Afterwords, we'd drive around town looking at christmas lights taking pictures of all the best looking displays of holiday cheer we could find. This year, with my father having passed away, we decided to just open the presents when I got home from work. We tried looking for lights and drove for 4 hours but in the end it felt more like we were casing houses then looking at lights as there were only a handfull of houses that had more then one or two strands of lights up. The road had more color then most with just the bland yellow/orange and white markings. It actualy felt quite depresing as so few decreated the outside of their houses this year. Broke tradition this year and visited an old friend to deliver a gift I'd wanted to give her nearly 15 years. Held onto that angel statue so long I'd almost forgot why I wanted to give it to her and was slightly sad to have given it up in the end.
