The first game they will be releasing as part of this partnership is Master Blaster on the VC. Vic has also mentioned the possibility of these games coming to psn and xbla (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=18748129&postcount=29) in a neo gaf thread as well as some unique extras for buying the VC release of Master Blaster. I love/hate that man. He said next week, eh? He better deliver.

I see someone is not a fan of Blaster Master. Shame...

^Or they are but realize it is relatively easy to play on its original hardware. ;) Of course, the extras are intriguing. I do find this announcement a little humorous. Seems pretty minor after years of build up.

Kaki hit the nail on the head.

I'm supposed to get excited that a game that I could easily play for the past 20 years is coming to the VC?

Try again.

Well, there's quite a few people who didn't own or can't play Blaster Master anymore(like me), so this is bigger news for them(me).

Vic apparently also mentioned that there would be another upcoming announcement for Working Designs fans, which leads me to believe we might get to see either Albert Odyssey for the Saturn show up again, or get a VC release of the original 2 on the SNES. Which would be pretty cool; Albert Odyssey was one of those games I always -wanted- to play but couldn't because I didn't have a Saturn.

I really like the graphics and music of AO on Saturn. The sprites' animation during battle is quite nice, but I have had a hard time getting into it for whatever reason. I have tried several times now. It may be the story or it may be some of the dialog. It is a game I would really like to enjoy, but over the years, I just haven't been able to. Of the English language rpgs on Saturn that I own, it is the only one that I haven't completed.

Where is this other announcement you mentioned? Maybe I missed it or maybe you are confusing the statement regarding extra stuff and Working Design fans would be familiar with the 'extra stuff' as in pack-ins? I saw that a fan mentioned AO on the board at Sunsoft but that is about it.

As for BM, yeah people may have not played it but you can find it and a NES for dirt cheap. Although, you could say that about many VC, PSN, and XBL releases. I more or less find it a little lackluster (despite loving BM as a kid) considering the build up to see Gaijinworks actually amount to anything - especially with the comments from Vic on Neogaf over the past couple of years.

Well, this is the quote I got. It's form the Sunsoft boards and it's from Vic.

"I'm really excited about the work we're doing with Sunsoft. The President of Sunsoft is really open to doing some very gamer-friendly things for the US market, especially. The next press release should definitely make some gamers very, very happy - especially old-school Working Designs fans."

The only Sunsoft game I'm aware of that WD worked on was AO, so...that's my guess. I'll admit it's possible he's just talking about the extras that might come with Blaster Master though.

^Yeah, I guess did see that quote. In another thread he did mention that the next announcement concerns a series of games, not a single title, so maybe you are correct about AO.

Yawn all you want DamageCity, but this time they've hooked the big fish (http://www.siliconera.com/2009/12/10/sunsoft-acquires-telenets-entire-catalog).

VALIS HELLS YEAH!

I so remember that ad. I think the small print describes that kid as a professional gamer and I want to say his name is something like Jamie. I also seem to remember thinking he had a total hair lip - like a baby mustache.

Anyway, this news concerning Telenet is a little more interesting to me. I had wondered if the "oldschool WD" fan comment would mean something a little further back than what others were guessing.

This has actually got me pretty psyched.

...I just hope we get something more than a bunch of virtual console releases. A PSP compilation would be nice.

I would also like to play the Cosmic Fantasy games. Always interested, but never had the system to play them on. And at the rate they go these days, I doubt I ever will.

I thought "soft 'stache" was common knowledge?
