It's an action RPG from Monolithsoft that was published by Nintendo in Japan last year. From the looks of it NoA is ignoring the game and it fits pretty well with Atlus USA's line-up. It has a story by Soraya Saga and a score done entirely by Yasunori Mitsuda.

Without a doubt this is the best action/RPG that I have ever played and not just on the NDS. The game is very streamlined and fun to play. You can transfer your extra items on the fly and can even sell them without having to go back into town. The graphics are superb with 3D characters upon beautifully drawn 2D backgrounds. It is also the only top-down game on the platform that offers real-time zooming. The music was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda known for Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Shadow Hearts, Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Xenogears, Xenosaga Episode I, and Mario Party and it is a delight to listen to.
Unfortunately, Monolith Soft is a Subsidiary of Nintendo and I have no idea how the licensing process works. I would love to have a localized version of this game:)

I would fully support this if I hadn't already beaten the game countless times using the 99.75% complete fan translation patch available.

I'd support this game coming over here as well. It looks fun!

Character design, graphic style (esp. the cell-shaded look), gameplay style -- I'm loving what I'm seeing.
I definitely support this. *thumbs up*

Nice suggestion. First time I saw this game, I fell in love. It looks brilliant and sounds pretty fun too. I support.

Yes, but will it bring me Somas?
Surprised I've not heard anything about it, wonder why Nintendo hasn't thought of bringing it over. Wasn't Monolith with Namco, though?

Yes, but it lacks the Atlus flair and that other 0,25% which remains untranslated represents the library info on the characters and locations. It is like reading a book and skipping the parts where the author is describing certain things.

Nintendo acquired Monolith Soft in 2007.

The Atlus flair is nice and all but I'd much prefer to see it in something that isn't available in English in any form. With a bunch of other equally good or even better titles which remain untranslated out there, it would seem like a huge waste to me if they decided to bring this one over.
And the 0.25% is absolutely worthless to anyone but the most hardcore fan of this game. It makes no difference at all, really. Besides, it's not like it won't ever be complete. A translator seems to have begun working on it just a few days ago.

I would definitely want this. It seems like everything about this game has great potential.

Not a fan of the DS, I still liked what I saw and always wanted to try this. I suspect Atlus already has given it a look since it's been out for a year.

You're rationalizing this based on fan-translations? Seriously?
So we just just all import it and glance back-and-forth between that and a PC? Yeah, that totally doesn't break suspension of disbelief or anything. Or that other way, which kinda gets into those hot waters of that we should not be discussing, implying and those that use it should set themselves ablaze anyway.

That's what a stupid person would do.
Or that other way
And that's what a smart person would. Quick, easy and doesn't involve bugging companies to spend MONTHS working on this game instead of using that precious time and effort into localizing a game that isn't available in english in ANY way.
and those that use it should set themselves ablaze anyway.
They should set themselves ablaze because they wanted to play a game and used the only available method to do it? Yeah, right. Those who DON'T resort to piracy in cases like this (that is, for using fan translations) are the ones who should die in a fire. They don't know how much awesome stuff they're missing just because of their politically correct bull####.

Mmmkay.
Personally, games localized by Nintendo ro Atlus tend to rank pretty high with me, particularly because they're always well-written localizations. Perhaps that's why I'm willing to wait for something that could happen, because when it does it would be done with a flair only they can provide.
And its not like I'm missing much in my "political correctness," as there are plenty of other games to cover while I wait for Nintendo or whomever to decide to bring it over. This is the sort of thing Nintendo will eventually wise up to and bring over, or someone will step up to publish in thier stead. There are much older DS games that eventually got out to the states, after all.
After watching the video, I think this is very worthy of a US release. The gameplay looks smooth and the gameplay system sounds fun. Secret of Mana with the option to go Diabolo in Multiplayer, seems pretty cool to me.

The point is, what if they don't? It could very well become the next ASH, or the next Tales of Hearts (both of which are being fan-translated, and obviously there's not a chance in hell they'll be picked up for localization). This game is almost two years old, after all.
Sure, there have been cases of games being brought to the US as late as three years after their JP release date, but there's no way to be sure if the same will happen with Soma Bringer. If it does, I'll gladly buy it to show my support and enjoy the high-quality localization - assuming it is high-quality, of course -, but while it doesn't happen, I see no problem in doing what I suggested. But I better stop bringing up that subject before something bad happens.

"What if it doesn't come out?"
I'll live, obviously. There are games that I've anticipated playing that have long since been out and I've still not gotten the console on which to play them. I'm the biggest Metroid fan on earth that hasn't played Corruption yet. I haven't died from that, so this not happening over here wouldn't crush my spirit.
The game looks fun and I'd love to play it, but that's not to say I feel like I'm missing out on that much.

Thread Necromancy! HA!
This is exactly what I'm looking for, an action RPG on the DS that can hold a candle to Shining Soul II! Swords, Sorcery, AND FLINTLOCKS!?! Character customization?! Great design and artwork? Oh, hell yes. As long as it's also difficult and of a decent length, I would totally buy this.
Also, the Japanese make better game trailers than we do. American game trailers are eye-candy, but the Japanese do that AND show you how the game is played. That is crucial.
Please Atlus. Give me something to look forward to before we're all wiped out in 2012.

I know there are other ways of playing this game, but I've never cared to play games that way. I've done it and I could never shake the feeling that it would just be so much better to have it in my hands. First off, that way I can take it with me, I don't have to leave it at the house. Second, I want an action RPG on the DS that isn't controlled by the @#$!* stylus! I'll say that the stylus is the best thing to happen to game menus and works well as a supplemental tool for puzzles or game features, but I can't stand it as the sole means of controlling a game. I tried Phantom Hourglass and I just couldn't stand it. This looks exactly like what I want.
Atlus, if you require a sacrifice, it will be done...
It must be a great game if SomethingDiffereent has already played it and would still buy it.
