Didn't see a thread of this so did you get the game and how far are you in?
My pops got it at Gamestop this afternoon (after I traded in two games yesterday to pay only 9.99) and I have to say this game is awesome I managed to beat World 1 and I am at World 2 now and it just got a bit harder now but either way this game makes me feel like a kid again.

I really hope one of my friends buy it, so we can get together and play it as a group.
Have you tried coop yet?

Would've liked to see sprite based graphics...

Got to world 3 w/ girlfriend. 2 player mode makes the game so much harder (but hella funnier). Can't imagine 4 player madness!

Don't see the point, really, particularly seeing as the DS version didn't have them either. Sprites or no, its spot-on with how Mario controls in Super Mario World.
Well, except for the controller shaking bits.
The revival of the 2D gameplay style is ultimately what matters here. I've actually see people call this a rent because it wasn't full-on 3D. One guy even said he'd rather have a 3D remake of SMB3. As in, redone totally in 3D, which makes no sense from a gameplay standpoint because everything that made it SMB3 would be eradicated in the process.
This was a joy to play when I tried it out last night. It certainly has no qualms about throwing the book at newcomers. Its not terribly difficult if you're a Mario veteran, but this game was smearing anyone unfamiliar with a 2D Mario game.

I dunno, the levels seem pretty simple early on, like most Mario games. I'm a 2D Mario vet, but I can still tell that it doesn't seem that much harder then the older games.
This is, of course, considering that you don't go for Star Coins and secret exits. Some of those a brutal to get to, even in the early worlds.

You don't have to see the point. It is a personal preference. I personally found the DS version quite bland and plasticy - devoid of personality or charm.
I would hardly call this a revival when it is so close to the DS game.

That's because you are a Mario vet, though. I didn't sweat this stuff, either. But from the standpoint of someone new to 2D Mario, Nintendo didn't hold back at all. This is probably why they felt the need to add the Super Guide feature.

Preferences are cool so long as they have reasons behind them. "Bland and plasticy" don't explain what was good about "flat and pixelated." Had you at least pointed over at Super Paper Mario or Mario and Luigi to extol the virtues of hand-drawn sprites, you might have had something.
I don't deny that there's a certain charm to sprites, but in the context of a 2D Mario, the charm is in how it plays, not how the characters are presented or what the story is. 2D sprite or 3D rendered Mario wouldn't have been a factor in my opinion in of how it plays.
This is also taking the DS version and cranking it up to 11. Throwing everything about SMB3 and SMW in there along with it, changing out old suits for a few new tricks. It resembles the DS version, but as you move along, it shows its much more expansive than the DS version.

Had you at least pointed over at Super Paper Mario or Mario and Luigi to extol the virtues of hand-drawn sprites, you might have had something.I did explain why I personally disliked them. Did I try to criticize others for liking graphics of NSMBWii? No? Did I personally criticize you? No? Then I am not obliged to offer some broad explanation. Anyone that has been here for more than a few years knows how much I have pounded the sprite argument into the ground. At this point I am beating a dead horse.
I am also not sure why you are having such difficulty with personal preference, as opposed to a criticism that would involve questioning the fondness of others for the graphics engine, but you can drop it from here on out.
For being a revival of 2D Mario, you sure mentioned DS NSMB a lot in your own explanation of why the Wii version is original...
the charm is in how it plays,Again, you seem to be confused. You want to criticize my personal preferences, and then make this statement. Is everyone's view of what constitutes a game's charm factor the same? No. Should I ask you to make a more satisfactory explanation?
I certainly wouldn't disagree with you that the game play is very important, but for me, it is just a portion, albeit a large portion, that provides charm - another element would be the graphics. Like I said, unless I call other peoples tastes into question, drop it.

Its not unreasonable to ask the reasons behind a preference. All I'm sayin'.

^No, it isn't unreasonable, but you didn't ask (see your comment about "not seeing the point"). When I offered the rationale* behind my personal preference, you felt the need to discredit it despite the fact it was a personal preference based on aesthetics. Something that is subjective and cannot be blanketed by your opinions or preferences.
*Although my second response was vague because I didn't feel the need to subject people to my opinions regarding 2D and sprites yet again.

I'm tempted to buy this to play with my spouse since 1up said the gameplay is inclusive for anyone to enjoy. Wiimote support only, or does it also work with classic controller (pro)?

No classic support. Needs waggle to do too much.
I'll probably pick this up when they get custom levels working on the Wii itself. I wanna make my own sadistic levels. Y'know something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C1BSbq5aB0

Me and a mate blitzed through this in one night co-op - fun as hell, but the very last section drove us mad.
