What's the quickest way to farm marrowstone and/or cloudstone *chunks*? (These are the two upgrade trophies I'm missing.) I have two pure marrowstones and two pure cloudstones, but I'm missing chunks. There are cloudstone chunk treasures, but unfortunately no marrowstone treasure as far as I know. So I'm especially interested in reasonably fast marrowstone farming. I tried going back from 5-2 and frying the giant depraved one with firestorm to backtrack towards three giant ticks, but their drop rate sucks.

Well, the marrowstone can only be found on the giant ticks and giant mosquitos in 5-1 and 5-2, while the best place to farm chunk of cloudstone is the beginning area of 4-2, but you have to lure the stingrays over land.

BTW, I got a chunk of cloudstone to drop in the final boss area in 4...and a million shards (I have 99 with the stockpile guy and I've thrown out many). I was farming with the storm ruler in one hand and LSoS in the other (and clever rat's ring since I'm NG+). I'm not too eager to continue farming, since it's for a stupid shield I'll never use. Maybe, I'll just keep picking up the treasure in future playthroughs...

Farming marrowstone and cloudstone chunks very tedious. :(

For the marrowstones I would suggest to start at the 5-3 archstone. Run back, then to the right, run past all the goblins until you can see the island with the two giant goblins. There you have to turn right where the primeval demon is (the giant gobilns should not notice you) to reach 5 mosquitoes. Now you can run up the path to the slug nest, jump down and again run towards the 5-2 archstone. Near the next small island there are another 5 mosquitoes. It took me quite some time to get all the chunks. :( Of course you have to use LSoS in PBWT. :)

Farming the flying mantas in 4-3 for chunks of cloudstone is even more tedious. :( I would suggest to just pick up the treasure each playthrough and by NG+++ you should have all the chunks you need. :)

I'd actually suggest the opposite.

When I farm for marrowstone chunks, I start from the leechmonger archstone. Once you get past the first island with a giant goblin and the three goblins, you'll start running along the plank that leads you past where Selen is located. While moving along the plank you will encounter 5 mosquitoes there in two groups iirc, and I usually get a chunk from one of these every other run.

Once you dispose of them, drop down into the swamp and head in the direction of the slug nest. Before you get there (near the first island as you get out of the swamp) you will run into a nice group of mosquitoes. This group is the one I usually find having the best chance for a chunk dropping, almost every run. After taking them out, make your way to where the primeval demon's spawn point is and take out the last group of mosquitoes as you head to the little island there. Kill them all, use evacuate, rinse and repeat.

Firespray will easily one shot the mosquitoes and it only costs 2 MP to use.

Good luck.

I'm with Tomo012. I'll add one thing: use the thief's ring so you can sneak past the giant depraved ones in the swamp.

The funny thing is that I think the ticks have a much better drop rate than the mosquitoes, but I do not recommend trying to fight backwards from the Leechmonger archstone as you have to fight two of those huge depraved ones essentially blind (you have to go up stairs right where they are waiting). If you've got wrath of god, though, I hear you can deal with them easier.

Running 5-2 with Tomo012's suggested route takes you right past the slug's nest too so you can get suckerstone at the same time. Suckerstone has a much better droprate so it keeps marrowstone from demoralizing you. You also run by a shaman so you can get shards of faintstone this way, too.

Good luck, I got about 6-7 shards for every chunk of marrowstone at about 30% to drop an ore from the skeeters with LSoS and PBWT.

The cloudstone farming is actually better b/c you actually gain a good chunk of souls with every runthrough. It took me about an hour once I figured out what I needed to do in dedicated farming to get the cloudstone.

Thanks for the tips, everybody. I found my last 5 chunks of marrowstone, farming the mosquitoes near the primeval demon in 5-2. It wasn't that bad, after I increased my luck to ~15. Each run, I started at 5-3 archstone and ran towards the camp, jumped into the swamp and bypassed the camp. I would get on average one drop of *a* stone (either shard or chunk) per run, with luck ~15 and LSoS on the belt and PBWT.

Farming Marrowstone chunks:

Begin at Leechmonger's archstone. Run backwards through 5-1. Firestorm the giant troll above you in the house; kill the other two flame sword enemies nearby. Kill the first three ticks, then Evacuate. There is no faster way to farm these drops.

Farming Cloudstone chunks:

Start at the Old Hero's archstone. Enter Storm King's arena, armed with a powerful bow. At most, two arrows will kill each manta, so fire away as you lure them over the central strip of land. Don't wear a Thief's Ring, which brings them to you at a much faster rate. (You'll also farm give or take 75,000 souls here every 3-4 minutes while doing this.)

Simple as that, but horribly time consuming.

I don't know if it's been said or not, but for marrowstones I found it much faster to go from the Dirty Collosus archstone and run back through the level without fighting anything along the way and just after you pass the merchent woman, turn right and range the 5 (I think) mosquito's then use evacuation miracle to get out. Doing that seemed much faster for getting chunks then killing the giant ticks in 5-1. As for cloundstone chunks, all I did was equip the LSoS on my left hand and then 2-handed the Stormruler sword, then let two of the manta's hit me so I had below 30% hp and used the Clever Rats ring so I could 1 hit them, went slow but I got the chunks eventually
